Reader 5 stars – ‘Gripping book. Intriguing. Obviously written by someone who knows reality game show TV. Very twisty turny... and a true mystery.’ 5 stars – ‘Starts off a bit like Traitors, but bad things and chaos will happen…’ 5 stars – ‘A fast-paced page-turner, hugely entertaining, with many plot twists.’
It was inevitable that an author would come up with a novel based on a reality show. This is one, a mixture of Big Brother and The Traitors. The game is called 'Escapism'. The ten contestants are in a mansion situated on an island off the mainland. They have to win tasks to get keys and the prize money, and also to escape.
Told from the perspectives of most of the contestants, plus Dolly the production assistant. Occasionally, Rhea narrates as she investigates the calamities that happened from six months in the future. Deaths, danger and a crazed fanatic are around.
Twists and turns are everywhere, with unsuspecting events going on. This all could have been a little better, but is still a good read about a nightmarish reality show, where not everything is as it seems, hence the title.
This was an interesting read. It kept my attention for sure. I didn't figure anything out until the last part of the book. The ending was somewhat abrupt, which is the only part I didn't like.
