Pine Ridge Mountain Men #1

Rescued By The Fire Chief

Rate this book
When my van goes up in flames, I don't expect to be rescued by six feet of protective mountain man perfection.

Knox Rivera is everything I'm not - rooted, stable, completely comfortable in his small-town world. He's also fifteen years older than me, with broad shoulders that fill doorways and hazel eyes that see straight through my carefully constructed walls.

"You're staying with me," he growls when I have nowhere else to go. "I'm not letting anything happen to you." He should intimidate me. Instead, he makes me feel safer than I ever have in my life.

I came to Pine Ridge to rebuild my digital nomad business after losing everything. I never expected to find my future in the arms of a fire chief who sees my curves as perfection and treats me like his most precious treasure.

But when my biggest client demands I choose between my independence and financial security, will our instant connection survive? Or will I lose the only man who's ever made me feel like home?

A steamy standalone mountain man romance featuring instalove, age gap attraction, and a possessive alpha who knows exactly how to love a curvy woman. HEA guaranteed, no cliffhangers.

I enjoyed reading the story 'Rescued Fire Chief' by Maya McKenna. It was about a woman named Sage who traveled the countryside in her custom van that was equipped for her giving her podcasts for her business directly from her van on her journeys. She meets a handsome fire chief in a most unexpected way when he saves her from going back to her van when it is being destroyed by a fire. all she can think of is all her back-up drives that contain everything about her business and business contacts that is currently being burned up. Knox, the fire chief, not only thinks that she is beautiful, but he also can empathize with her about losing a chunk of her life and understands that she has been on the road and concentrating only on her business as she lives her solitary life. She admits that she has never stayed in one place for more than two years, so she doesn't make many friends knowing that they will have to part. Knox invites her to stay at the spare room that the fire department has for just these kinds of emergencies. As they spend time together and share a little of their pasts, Knox tries to make Sage realize that it's just as heartbreaking being all alone as it is having to leave people behind. The two soon realize that they have an undeniable attraction to each other and they take a chance on love. They are just getting to know happiness when Sage gets a call from one of her biggest supporting clients stating that she is to give up road life and move to San Francisco if she is to continue doing business with his company. Sage knows the heartache of having to choose between what's good for the business and staying for her own wishes. She thinks the two are not compatible, but Knox is determined to show her that you don't have to choose between one or the other and he is determined to work something out so she can stay with him because she belongs with him.

Compromising for Love -
Sage was happy living her nomadic life when disaster struck and she had to watch the life she had carefully built burn to ashes. From the moment Knox arrived on the scene of the fire and saw Sage in a dazed state, he felt an inexplicable pull towards her, that made him do something he usually wouldn’t do. Even though Sage had sworn to rely on no one but herself, after careful consideration, she realised she had no other choice, other than to accept Knox’s offer of shelter.

The sparks between Sage and Knox led to an explosive night on unbridled pleasures and they begun a relationship. Unfortunately, just as Sage and Knox settled into a semblance of a relationship, disaster struck when she was forced to make a very difficult decision. Knox realised he had made a mistake when he pushed Sage away because of the decision she made, which led him to do everything possible to get her to give them a chance at a future. This was a gem of a story and I really enjoyed reading it. Grab a copy of this book and you won’t regret it.

Maya had her whole life mapped out. She was organized, driven, and always had a plan—until her van literally caught on fire mid-conference call. (Yeah, that kind of day.) Suddenly, all her carefully laid plans go up in smoke—literally.

Enter Chief Knox. Calm, steady, and annoyingly handsome, he’s the first on the scene, helping her through the chaos like it’s just another Tuesday. When he offers her a temporary place to crash at the firehouse, Maya reluctantly agrees—because what other choice does she have when her home is a pile of ash?

But here’s the thing: Knox isn't just offering a bed and a hot meal. He sees something in Maya that she’s forgotten about herself. And while Maya’s still reeling from the unexpected detour her life has taken, Knox is quietly, fiercely falling for her.

He's the kind of man who doesn’t rush, doesn’t pressure—just shows up for her in every possible way. Even though she might be gone in a few days, he’s all in. Because from the moment they met, he knew—she’s it.

This is a story about a fireman and a woman living a nomadic life. That is until her van catches on fire and she is left without a vehicle or her equipment for her webinars. Knox is on the scene and tries to tell her life is more valuable risking it to retrieve her equipment. When he offers her a place to stay, she reluctantly accepts. The attraction builds when he shows her the life she has been missing; the caring, sharing and love of two people, will she open her heart to him? When she is offered a position hard to refuse, will she accept it and move on or stay with Knox who makes her feel loved?

Sage is a very independent woman who likes a nomadic life, but a fire ends it.
Knox is the fire Chief in Pine Ridge and the one who rescues Sage.
The story is very romantic. What Knox did for Sage was awesome. I liked Knox; he is so determined to do whatever it takes (in a good way) to keep Sage staying with him. He is so sweet.

When Sage sees everything go up in smoke, she never expected to be rescued by the fire chief Knox and have her world changed forever. He brings a passion out of her she never thought possible, even with him being 15 years older than her. The romance was off the charts, and even with this being a shorter read, there was still tension and page turning moments that will keep readers enthralled from page 1. I am really enjoying this series and I look into reading more.

I truly adored Sage and Knox's whirlwind story as they faced lasting love. Sage, an Army brat, was used to moving every two years and not loving or getting close to people to guard her heart, but Knox had vowed to never get close to others as he feared getting close to anyone for over eight years, but when he Saved Sage he knew that she was the one for him if she quit her digital nomad lifestyle.

It’s hard to believe that such a short book could have all the romance of a longer one that make it just feel right, but this one did just that! Thoroughly enjoyable read.
