“We’re monsters. We’re liars. We’re everything we taught our children not to be. Would they forgive us if they knew what we’d done?”

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This author is new to me and WOW. This is now hands down one of my favourite thrillers. I will definitely be adding her backlist to my TBR. Dark, twisty, suspenseful. The POV of the kidnapped girls is so well done, you feel like you’re in that basement with them. The tension between the 2 sets of parents is palpable. It was giving ‘IKWYDLS x Prisoners’ vibes. HIGHLY recommend this one for my dark thriller girlies.

Thank you to Robin Mahle and Harp House Publishing for an ARC of All The Lies They Told!

This is for sure a crime/psychological thriller. We follow multiple POVs of 2 sets of parents, and the 2 daughters. One night, Lexi and Skye are getting home late from school, so they choose to take the short cut through the woods, and they go missing. Secrets are abound in this small town, and the 2 sets of parents try and take matters into their own hands at finding their daughters and figuring out what has happened to them. Behind the scenes, there is so much drama unfolding, and you find out that the sets of parents are holding on to a lot of secrets, themselves.

I thought this book was super fast-paced and engaging! The chapters were super short, and it was easy to keep turning the pages. I felt the twists were twisting, especially in the last 20% of the book. My heart was racing, and I never could’ve predicted the ending. It was so fun, and I recommend it! If you loved the film Prisoners, and the grittiness of it, and the dark places it takes you to, I suggest giving this book a try. This book quickly got dark, messy, and I didn’t know who to trust!

Wowwww!! This was a lot to unpack. Such a raw and emotional read, as my heart ached for Lexi and Skye through their entire ordeal. The story started with a bang right from page one and never let up! There were so many layers & twists, and the betrayal cut deep from every direction.

Told through 6 POVs.. Lexi, her parents Ashley & Nate, and Skye, her parents Mara & Garrett we really get to see every side of the story. The perspectives were easy to follow and added so much depth. Hearing the treachery and deception firsthand magnified my reading experience. You’ll definitely find yourself wanting to ask these characters, “What were you thinking?!” & now, you’ll know.

Overall, an amazing read that I highly recommend! I had a feeling I’d enjoy this one just from the author’s notes, and Robin did not disappoint. This is my second read by her, and she’s officially moving to the favorites list!

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of All the Lies They Told by Robin Mahle. Many thanks to NetGalley and HARP House Publishing for this ARC; I can’t wait for everyone else to enjoy it come August 19, 2025!
This was one of the most gripping thrillers I’ve read in ages. Robin Mahle crafts a chilling and twisty narrative inspired by the real-life Delphi murders—something I’ve deliberately steered away from as a mother of young daughters. So fair warning: this story can be deeply unsettling at times, and readers should take note of the potential emotional triggers.
Told through multiple character viewpoints, the novel layers tension and doubt in brilliant ways. Just when I thought I had a handle on what was going on, the story twisted again—and again. There’s a complex, secondary storyline woven into the main plot that adds even more mystery and momentum. The pacing is relentless, and I was so hooked I almost pulled an all-nighter just to reach the finish.
And the ending? Completely jaw-dropping. I gasped.
If you love thrillers that keep you second-guessing everyone and everything, this one absolutely delivers. Not for the faint of heart—but definitely for fans of fast-paced, psychologically rich suspense.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ARC Review

“They were once inseparable. Now they barely speak. And tonight, they vanish.”

This gripping, emotionally charged thriller sank its teeth into me from the very first page—and refused to let go. Lexi and Skye’s disappearance is just the spark that ignites a wildfire of secrets, betrayal, and buried history between two families once bound by friendship… and now fractured by something far darker.

Set against the haunting quiet of a small Idaho town, the story pulses with urgency. As the search for the missing girls intensifies, so does the unraveling of the adults’ long-buried lies. The dual tension of the mystery and the emotional weight of generational trauma is masterfully done—every chapter pulling you deeper into the truth nobody wants to face.

This isn’t just a missing persons story. It’s a haunting exploration of guilt, fractured trust, and the terrifying ways the past can reach into the present—especially when children are caught in the fallout.

Fans of psychological thrillers with layered characters, buried secrets, and sharp emotional hooks: this one is for you.

Don’t walk—run.

Lexi and Skye are neighbor girls and former best friends… but when their parents stopped hanging out together, so did they. Years later they are fifteen and abducted while walking home from school.

The synopsis had me hooked from the jump. The author does start off with trigger warnings as the book has sensitive subject matter and she did handle it tactfully, although it was still tough to read. There are twists and turns throughout the book as you find out just why the girls’ parents are no longer friends - and that is where I struggled a bit. The book kind of dragged after a bit and the twists were almost too much, I wanted to roll my eyes after a while at just how ridiculous the parents were acting. Some of what happened just felt TOO over the top.

Loved the strength of Skye and Lexi and liked how the story wrapped up. I would be willing to read more from Robin Mahle in the future!

Thank you to NetGalley and HARP House publishing for the opportunity to read an early copy.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of this novel. All my thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book instantly hooked me from start to finish. I planned just to read a few chapters, but I ended up reading the whole thing in about 3 hours because I couldn’t put it down.

There’s 3 concurrent plot lines happening in this novel, none of which I’ll say here in fear of spoiling the novel.

Skye and Lexi — These incredibly brave girls that never gave up, always with one determined plan after the next. I was so proud of them and all that they’ve accomplished. They were easily the best part of the whole novel for me. And I feel so bad that they have, quite possibly, the worst parents ever. Parents who are so caught up in their own drama, that they weren’t even willing to put it aside for such a monumental tragedy.

I constantly grew frustrated at both sets of parents’ antics towards one another — Ashley and Nate and Mara and Garrett. They were single-handedly the reason every single time my enjoyment towards the book plummeted. All of their issues and their anger towards one another, though valid, felt incredibly juvenile at the face of the main issue at hand. Both of their daughters were kidnapped, for crying out loud. They’d already been playing nice with one another for 5 whole years for the sake of keeping up appearances around town. But they couldn’t keep that mask on for an additional 5 days, at a time when their daughters needed them most? I get that emotions can run high and people can act irrational during times of crises. However, I think, in many, many ways they were incredibly useless in the grand scheme of it all.

The culprit(s), I can’t really say I’m shocked. It was fairly easy to spot pretty early on. Maybe even /too/ on the nose.

Overall, it was a fairly good and entertaining read.

"All The Lies They Told” by Robin Mahle is a fast-paced, action-packed 5-star thriller! Lexi and Skye walk home together every day after school because their parents believe they are safer that way. One night, they do not make it home. Panic sets in, and their parents will stop at nothing to find them.

I absolutely loved this book! The writing was wonderful, and the plot was well executed. The chapters are short, and the multiple POVs covering each of the girls and all the parents keep the story moving as we see what each character is doing and thinking. There were some questionable actions from the parents, but who knows how anyone would respond in a situation like this. This story does include sensitive subject matter, so I recommend checking the trigger warnings before reading.

This was my first book by Robin Mahle, and I am now an instant fan! I recommend it for fans of psychological thrillers.

Thanks to Robin Mahle for providing me with the opportunity to read this ARC and share my honest review.

Tw: child molestation, kidnapping, car accident,

There were absolutely elements of this I enjoyed. The girls’ reactions to everything happening to them felt painfully real and very grounded. Unfortunately, that made the soap opera going on with the parents that much more eye-roll inducing. I can suspend my disbelief to accept that there’s an affair, an accidental death, a cover-up, etc. but the way that these characters react to their circumstances just fell really flat to me. I’ll also address the twist under the spoilers, because I think it is just broadly socially irresponsible, but I’ll get there.

Pros:
- The girls (Lexi and Skye) read as beautifully and painfully fifteen. They approach problems like teenagers, while still showing the grit and growth that makes a character compelling.

- The adults’ mystery unfolds really well. Each step that gathers just a bit more information is well placed and makes sense.

- The short chapters make this a really quick read.

- The sensory details are unsettling but really well done.

Cons:
- The parents chose the most insane times to dredge up the past. As much as each of their narrations talked about how much they wanted to find their daughter, they put a lot more energy into preventing their own wrongdoing from getting out without it having a clear connection to the kidnapping. I mean, come on, Downey is not that unusual of a name.

- The dynamic between the girls didn’t feel quite as developed as it could have. Where are the recollections of their time as friends before their parents fell out?

- The six different POVs weren’t as distinct as I’d have liked.

- The abuse the girls undergo in the house, because it’s realistic, just made my stomach turn.

- I didn’t get the sense of place I would hope for in a book like this. Parts of Idaho are beautiful and mountainous! Parts are flat and agricultural! I didn’t really get a sense for which part we were in other than the woods where they get kidnapped.

- If the little brother character was going to get sidelined almost immediately and almost never discussed, he didn't need to be there. Which is a bummer, because having an older sister desperate to get back to her baby brother would be super compelling!

- This overall felt underdeveloped. A lot of compelling seeds got planted and just never grew. The family dynamics didn't factor deeply into the characterization in a way I'd think you'd want to explore in a book like this.

- The twist.

Overall, I would read this author again. The writing is great, even if the plot and development aren't quite where I'd like them to be.

I received a free ebook ARC of this in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to HARP House Publishing for letting me read and review this ahead of its release!

All The Lies They Told- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me to read an ARC version of this book.

Pros- I was hooked from the start. I loved the character building and the suspense that was obtain just a few chapters in. I highly enjoyed the shorter chapters and the multiple different character points of view. I liked that I didn’t guess the ending and that it wrapped up all loose ends.

Cons- There were a few scenes that were far fetched and not very believable. I also felt this book was 95% kidnapping story and then the last 5% was a rushed ending (although I do feel the ending answered all the questions).

Overall, I would recommend this book to a friend. This was my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

“A taut, chilling, pulse-pounding thriller. The suspense builds with every page—with more than one twist you DO NOT SEE COMING!”

Robin Mahle (a favorite) bestselling author and screenwriter acclaimed for her compelling cop procedural series starring Detective Rebecca Ellis, FBI Kate Reid, and Trooper Remy Fontaine, along with a remarkable oeuvre of over 40 gripping crime novels and psychological thrillers, is set to captivate readers once again with her latest standalone domestic thriller, ALL THE LIES THEY TOLD.

This powerful narrative draws inspiration from the heart-wrenching case of the two young girls who tragically vanished in Delphia, Indiana, in 2017.

Delving deeply into the complex emotions of trauma, the suffocating weight of secrecy, and the haunting pangs of guilt. With a thoughtful approach, the author offers trigger warnings, ensuring her writing is infused with both compassion and sensitivity, inviting readers to engage with a story that resonates on multiple emotional levels.

About...

In a quiet Idaho town, we meet two families whose lives are intertwined by friendship and marred by a haunting past.

Ashley and Nate Brewer are the loving parents of a spirited daughter named Lexi, while next door, Mara and Garrett Metcalf nurture their creative daughter, Skye, along with their inquisitive son, Milo.

Once the best of friends, the two families now find their relationships strained and frayed. The laughter that once echoed through backyard barbecues has faded, replaced by awkward encounters and stilted conversations.

The parents used to share everything—their hopes, dreams, and even their fears—until a tragic mistake cast a shadow over their lives and pulled them apart. The vibrant playdates that filled their afternoons are now distant memories, leaving a palpable tension hanging in the air.

A chilling secret looms over both families. Deep down, the parents grapple with the weight of their actions. Their teen daughters have no clue what happened THAT NIGHT.

"We're monsters. We're liars. We're everything we taught our children not to be. Would they ever forgive us if they knew what we had done?" Their thoughts echo with regret and fear, threatening to unravel the fragile fabric of their lives.

As the story unfolds, Lexi and Skye decide to venture home through the enchanting, yet foreboding, woods after practice, their backpacks bouncing as they are different now, not the close friends they were as children. The sun dips below the horizon, casting long shadows through the trees, and a sense of adventure fills the air, but quickly turns into a nightmare.

When the girls do not return that evening, an icy grip of panic spreads throughout the town. The once-peaceful community transforms into a hive of frantic energy as search parties gather, combing through the darkening woods. The focus soon turns to those who should know the girls best—their parents—who are thrust into the spotlight of suspicion.

As searchlights flicker in the night and whispers of dread circulate, the parents’ secret begins to unravel, bringing old resentments to the surface. Who has taken their beloved daughters? What sinister events from the past have come to haunt them?

In this harrowing moment, everyone realizes they have something to lose, and deeper still, something to conceal. The past does not remain buried; sometimes, it resurfaces with a vengeance, threatening not just their peace but the safety of their children.

My thoughts...

Dark and unsettling, an engrossing thriller that will grip you from page one!

Mahle is a remarkable author whose writing captivates from the very first page. Every story is a masterfully crafted experience, brimming with intelligent prose, impeccable pacing, and rich characterization that draws you in completely.

ALL THE LIES THEY TOLD is a heart-pounding thriller with small-town secrets that keep you on the edge of your seat. Mahle expertly builds suspense, creating an electrifying tension that compels readers to stay up late, devouring each chapter. This gripping tale—a thrilling blend of survival and psychological terror—is an absolute must-read.

The author skillfully weaves together Six alternating points of view: Lexi, Mara, Ashley, Nate, Skye, and Garrett, effortlessly navigating between past and present timelines as well as intertwining storylines.

Highlights...

~Points of View (POV): Each character's perspective is clearly marked, making it easy to follow their journeys. This thoughtful structure offers deep insights into their motivations, adding layers of complexity and richness to the narrative.

~Pacing: Mahle masterfully orchestrates a rising tension that keeps readers spellbound, skillfully weaving together past revelations and present dangers. Both storylines are equally captivating, ensuring there’s never a dull moment.

~Past: Parents' Mystery: The shadows of the parents' past sins and buried secrets lurk ominously throughout the story, enriching the plot with emotional depth and intrigue.

~Present: Teen Characters: The resilience and tenacity of the kidnapped girls shine through, even as they endure harrowing circumstances. Meanwhile, the portrayal of the unpredictable parents—whose past actions reverberate into the present—adds a chilling complexity. Readers will be left astounded by the shocking twists that unfold, leaving them breathless.

~Setting: The evocative small-town ambiance of Idaho plays a crucial role in heightening the story's intensity and atmosphere. Having worked as the SE Regional VP of a company based in Boise and traveled there monthly (plus McCall), I found the vivid depiction of the landscape and culture deeply resonant.

~Timelines: The precise marking of events occurring five and ten years before the present heightens the intrigue, creating a layered narrative that keeps readers guessing.

~Plot Twists: Prepare for surprises that will leave you reeling. The twisty revelations are expertly crafted, and you won’t see the two major plot twists coming!

~Teasers: Intriguing elements such as Skye’s seemingly innocuous phone, a mysterious driver’s license, an enigmatic auto repair guy, and a telling license plate serve as key pieces of the puzzle, keeping readers enthralled and eager to connect the dots.

~Suspense: The outstanding suspense is palpable, propelling readers through the pages at breakneck speed. The unsettling creepiness of captivity, especially involving a haunting mask, evokes a chilling atmosphere reminiscent of Clémence Michallon’s "The Quiet Tenant."

~Epilogue: The epilogue wraps the story with warmth and resolution, skillfully avoiding a rushed conclusion, leaving readers with a satisfying sense of closure.

~Wink: I appreciated the nod to Stephen King’s "Mr. Mercedes," a delightful reference for fans of the genre, as I am among them.

If you have yet to explore Mahle's work, you are truly missing out on an extraordinary talent! I wholeheartedly recommend her captivating novels and eagerly await her next creation—it’s always a literary delight.

Recs...

ALL THE LIES THEY TOLD is essential reading for devoted fans of Mahle and those who savor the gripping narratives of authors like Chevy Stevens, Karin Slaughter, Lisa Unger, J.T. Ellison, and Noelle Ihli.

Special thanks to the author, Harp House Publishing, and NetGalley for providing an advanced reading copy in exchange for my honest thoughts. I was honored to be an early beta reader.

Myj Thoughts
This was my first book by Robin Mahle. The book was so emotional and I absolutely love Robin’s writing style. This book had me tangled up in secrets, betrayal, and half-truths. Told through 6 POVs.. Lexi, her parents Ashley & Nate, and Skye, her parents Mara & Garrett we really get to see every side of the story. The perspectives were easy to follow and added so much depth. Hearing the treachery and deception firsthand magnified my reading experience. You’ll definitely find yourself wanting to ask these characters,
Note: Check trigger warnings before diving in. Some chapters—especially Lexi’s and Skye’s—are emotionally heavy and can be draining to read.Overall, an amazing read that I highly recommend!

Lies, buried secrets and missing teenage girls in a small town, the synopsis and prologue foreshadowed a story filled with complicated dynamics and surprising revelations. The plot had a lot of potential but the characters and their portrayal was a let down.

The tension and history between the two couples - the Brewers and the Metcalfs - was alluded to constantly and once revealed, mentioned so often that it all became repetative and lost the impact it should have had. The small town where the Brewers and the Metcalfs lived felt empty. Most of the book focused on the two sets of parents and the teenage girls - Skye and Lexi - to the exclusion of everyone else. Even Skye’s younger brother was only mentioned in passing. It felt like they were the only people in that town. This created a sense of isolation in the book that made the story feel artificial.

Skye and Lexi’s characters were well-developed and relatable. In fact, their part of the story was the bit that made me sit up and hold my breath in anticipation of what would happen next. The cycle of hope, dismay, defeat, rebuilding of hope and the refusal to give up, kept me on edge.

But the parents - Ashley and Nate (Lexi’s parents) and Mara and Garrett ( Skye's parents) felt like stock photos. The undercurrents between the four them which finally erupted, would have worked a lot better if these four characters had had more depth.

I liked the boldness of the writing and the fact that there was no shying away from escalating the tension or uncomfortable scenarios. I also did not see the twist coming. When it came, it was satisfying and made some of the plot points fall into place.

Overall, I found that this book didn't quite live up to the expectations set up by the description and prologue. It was an okay read. Anyone expecting a thrilling tale with a slow build of pressure because of a complicated past will not be completely satisfied.

4⭐️ for All The Lies They Told by Robin Mahle. Gritty story with good pacing 📚🔍

I had started three books but just couldn't get my head into them. I discovered Robin Mahle earlier this year on NetGalley and ended up devouring a five book series in days. So was chuffed to see another book on NetGalley and I ended up binging this in one sitting.

Once inseparable, teenage friends Lexi Brewer and Skye Metcalf are now estranged until one night, they both go missing. Their disappearance sends shockwaves through their small Idaho town and sparks a frantic search. As law enforcement investigates, attention turns to the girls’ families, who share a tangled history full of old grudges and unspoken secrets.

As the search intensifies, long-buried betrayals and emotional wounds resurface, threatening to destroy what’s left of the fragile relationships between the two families.

In a story driven by suspense, mystery, and emotional tension, the past refuses to stay buried and the truth may cost everything.

This is a four star as I didn't feel there were many legitimate suspects so I did guess the bad guy very early on - but I still enjoyed the twists and turns along the way.

Available from 19 August.

Holy heck! I could NOT put this book down! All The Lies They Told by Robin Mahle is a very dark and twisty psychological thriller that comes with a trigger warning. The trigger scenes were mild and handled carefully but were an important part of the story.

Two families, once the best of friends, marred by a past tragedy, are once again brought together by the disappearance of their daughters. Putting their disputes aside, they work together as they race against time to find their girls. This endeavor brings their past misdeeds to the surface once again and causes an emotional eruption, resulting in consequences that can't be taken back.

This emotional thriller gripped me from page one and held me tight to the end. Told from multiple perspectives, the chapters are short and easy to fly through. The twists and revelations throughout kept me gasping, and the ending was jaw-dropping. Mahle's ability to keep the characters real is a tribute to her great talent for writing. She has cemented a place on my must read authors list, and I can't wait for her next one. This is a must-read for domestic thriller lovers

“All the Lies They Told” by Robin Mahle is a gripping and intense psychological thriller filled with deception and hidden truths. This narrative is heavy and sorrowful, so be sure to check the trigger warnings before diving in!

The story revolves around two families, each with a dark history, two daughters who have gone missing, and a ruthless hunter on the prowl. This book hits hard and makes you question how much you can trust those around you.

Told from various character perspectives, the novel masterfully builds tension and uncertainty. Just when I thought I had a grasp on the plot, it twisted yet again—and again. There’s a rich, secondary storyline intricately woven into the main narrative that adds even more intrigue and pace.

One late evening, Lexi and Skye are returning from school and decide to take a shortcut through the woods and vanish. Their parents take it upon themselves to search for their daughters and uncover the truth behind their disappearance. Parents who were once close friends can now barely tolerate each other, and we soon learn the reasons behind this rift. However, this is not the time for bitterness, as time is of the essence...

All the Lies They Told by Robin Mahle is a twisty, binge-worthy thriller that kept me on my toes from start to finish. If you love fast-paced mysteries where secrets unravel layer by layer, this one is for you!

Mahle crafts an addictive story full of tension, unexpected turns, and just the right amount of psychological suspense. The plot pulls you in quickly and doesn’t let up, with reveals that made me question every character’s motive. I especially appreciated how the story maintained a sense of unease without relying on over-the-top shocks—just clever, well-paced plotting that kept me guessing.

The characters are flawed, secretive, and complex, making it hard to know who to trust, exactly what I want in a thriller like this. And while the mystery was the main draw, there are emotional layers here, too, that added depth to the story.

If you’re looking for a compulsive, unputdownable read that delivers plenty of twists, All the Lies They Told is definitely worth adding to your list. Can't wait to read more from Robib Mahle!

3.5, a dark and twisted popcorn thriller. Even though I say it was popcorn, the subject matter wasn’t light, but it was very fast paced and I couldn’t put it down.

Two next door neighbors are taken on their way home from school. When the parents realize the girls are gone, they are frantic with worry - but also frantic with the idea that it will dredge up their past misdeeds. It’s told from all six main characters’ POV and the narrative from the girls is not an easy read. The other POVs weren’t as distinct as I would have liked, but they were necessary to keep the fast pace of the reveals. I saw some of the twists coming, but some were truly out of the blue. The other interesting thing the author does is that, as a reader you can see that some of these characters really aren’t great, but you also feel for them because their daughters are missing.

I also very much appreciated the author’s note at the beginning and how respectful she was with her words.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a digital copy and a chance to read this early. All opinions are my own.

OMG!!!! A must read

My heart hasn’t stopped pounding yet, I’m still wrapped up in this incredible thriller and everything that has happened to everyone involved. I almost didn’t read it after I bought it and really learned what it was about. I started reading cautiously and then I couldn’t stop. The author states that the idea was inspired by a true story but that this book was not based on it. So of course I looked it up.. Bad idea. This is a completely original story and I am sorry I had that information in my head when I started reading. I will say that this is a tough subject but, in typical Robin Mahle style, it is written so well and does not go into any graphic details surrounding the events. It is compelling and it keeps you turning pages long into the night. I read it in one day because I was totally immersed in the characters, I never even imagined what they would do and the last part just blew me away. I highly recommend reading this incredible book.

All the Lies They Told was intense and twisty. It started off strong and kept that pace throughout. There are some definite dark moments so make sure and check the trigger warnings before jumping in. The girls in the story are strong and inspirational. The parents, on the other hand, are just messy. They all have their secrets and the fact that there were times when they appeared to put the secrets before finding their children was disgusting. None of the parents were particularly likeable but their viewpoints added a layer to the story. The end caught me by surprise and I always appreciate that!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

This was so bad, im sorry. The writing was so choppy and weird. The dialogue felt forced and not how you’d normally talk with another person, I can‘t pinpoint what exactly felt so off but something for sure did. The characters were insufferable, every single one. Also the things that happened were so incredibly disgusting, creepy and heartbreaking (may this one character rot in the deepest pits of hell for all of eternity), I had to put the book down a few times because some scenes were so hard to read. I‘ll give this two stars because it was fast paced and given everything I disliked I still wanted to know what happened and who the bad guy was.

The families were close and did almost everything together until they were not anymore. The girls, then best friends, now felt obligated to do things together, until they are kidnapped and submitted to an ordeal no one should. The parents are tied by a secret that will be their demise, they are petty, show an ugly behavior, and are no role model. Skye and Lexie are the stars in the story, they discover they are and will continue to be best friends, they'll defend one another, and will fight for their lives till the end. The sad part is that who was supposed to keep them from harm is the one who is harming them. Secrets and lies will only do harm in the short ir long run.
I thank the author, her publisher, and NetGalley for this ARC.

Let me just start by saying that WOW Ms. Mahle really can spin a yarn about lies and how everyone involved is affected by those lies. I recently read He’s Lying About Everything (amazing, go read it) and I thought she could never top that one, but she did!! The story had me in a chokehold and wouldn’t let go til the final page was turned. There were some points in the book that I thought I had correctly predicted who the suspect was, but I was wrong each time. This one left me shocked and questioning everything I thought I had figured out🤯😱 If you are looking for a thriller that keeps you guessing the entire time, this one is for you. I highly recommend adding it to the top of your TBR!
Thank you to Robin Mahle for the ARC. I’m only sorry it took me this long to get to it!

Inspired by real events, this thought-provoking novel is about the disappearance of two teenage girls, formerly best friends, and the repercussions for them and their families.

Written in short chapters from the points of view of the girls themselves and their parents, it engaged me from the start, although the constant changes of narrator did become a little tedious, and I had to keep checking back to remind myself who was currently narrating, and who belonged to who!

This was the first Robin Mahle book that I’ve read. I enjoyed it and will definitely read more.

Two young girls, onetime friends Skye and Lexi, go missing in a small Midwestern town, and all the secrets and lies their parents have been keeping start coming to the surface in the wake of the girls' disappearance.

This is an interesting and relatable story based on true events - and alas, it speaks to a phenomenon that is probably too common in modern day America, where the safety of teenage girls is nothing like it should be in 2025.

I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

Where do I start!?! Tangled web of secrets, lies and betrayals. The story is told from multiple perspectives, which I love by the way, this keeps the tension high and the truth elusive!! The short chapters and rotating view points makes for a fast, binge-worthy read. Lexi and Skye were absolutely bad ass! And the plot twist nearly unpredictable, I wish there was more to read. Not going to lie didn’t expect the ending but all in all I love how accountability was taken. This was a fantastic read. Definitely reading more from this author!!!!

Fast-paced. Twisty. Emotional. I couldn’t put this psychological thriller down. I read it straight through the night.

Two teenage girls, Lexi Brewer and Skye Metcalf suddenly disappear from a small Idaho town. The girls and their families were once close friends, until betrayal and silence tore them apart. Now, forced by tragedy to work together, both families must confront an investigation that will unearth dangerous secrets and change them forever.

What I loved:
• A dark, emotionally intense tone and atmosphere
• Multiple POVs that pull you deep into each character’s thoughts and feelings
• Short, gripping chapters
• A twisted, jaw-dropping ending

What didn’t work for me:
• The parents’ behavior often felt frustrating and irrational

Note: Check trigger warnings before diving in. Some chapters—especially Lexi’s and Skye’s—are emotionally heavy and can be draining to read.

Thank you NetGally and HARP for the digital ARC.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book sent me spiraling through all the feels. Manipulation, suspense, psychological thrilling...the list could go on and on. This author did a wonderful job with the transition between past and present and the different characters perspective of the event that happened. Dark, dark, dark thriller. Highly recommend. Quick read and I promise yo will not be able to turn the pages fast enough.

Thanks NetGalley for the free ARC! This book had definite cringe factor. It went a bit more descriptive and traumatic than most psychological thrillers, but kept it just under the line of truly horrifying. It was a completely engaging read but may be triggering for some readers. It seems that all the characters suffered astoundingly from the aftermath of bad decisions during one event. Everything just goes from bad to worse.
