This guide is certainly for those who wish to take a more serious approach to paranormal investigation. It is filled not only with information, but advice and warnings in regards to edict. This guide is also one of the best on explanation of equipment and even included advice on what to get and not get based on accuracy and need. I also loved there variety of theories at the end, some including experiences
There were a couple of things that bothered me, though. For one, with some of the information on cultures this author obviously is not a part of, there was simplicity or half-truths to them. Not that I am one either, so take what you will, but I have heard and studied from those who are from different cultures than mine and I am sure they would say there is important key info missing.
The other thing that irked me is the author's inclusion of his stance on the Stone Tape theory and residual hauntings. As interesting as it is to find a person who feels differently and challenges the theory as a standard, it felt out of place in this handbook because of how much attention this one theory got over others. Almost like he wrote some of the book around the purpose to have this little essay included. On top of it all, his reasoning is just a solid as the theory itself. In truth, there is no scientific way to really prove or disprove it. I guess what really bothered me is how strongly he wanted the reader to think his opinion is the correct one. In reality, both are potentially true.
