Sojourner: Book I of the Scaleforged Legacy

Rate this book
Sojourner is the first book of The Scaleforged Legacy, an isekai dragon-reincarnation epic blending progression fantasy, classic storytelling, and subtle LitRPG elements. Its world is built with anthropological depth and linguistic realism, creating cultures and histories that feel truly lived-in.

After a life marked by failure and regret, Kel finds himself reborn in a world of danger, magic, and wonders. An unwitting inheritor of tremendous power and in a body alien to his own, he must navigate this strange, fantastical world and the creatures that inhabit it. While exploring ancient ruins, fleeing from indescribable horrors, and battling hordes of monsters, he struggles to keep his identity hidden from those he meets in his journey. Guided by unlikely allies and shouldering the fate of those around him, he walks a path towards a destiny that will reshape his new world.

A Great Fantasy Adventure

A wonderful first entry into what is sure to be a long running series by D. M. Wilkenson. At least, if the amount of world building he has done is any indication.

A very heartfelt, amusing, and serious story from beginning to end.

I loved the usage of modern culture brought in by the protagonist's back story.

It really helped sell what it would actually be like for anyone of us if we woke up in a foreign fantasy world.

The characters were well-written with both heroes and villains being beloved and despised.

The story took me to places I was not expecting and it was all the better for it!

You've got a reader for as long as you keep making these!

A solid fantasy isekai about someone reborn as a dragon.

Kel is reborn as a dragon to a dying mother. She leaves a fragment of her mind to help unlocked powers as he matures. Born in the equivalent of the mines of Moria, Kel must explore his new world to uncover ancient mysterious and meet allies. Overall, very fun, although it answer few of the big questions, so I am very eager for the next book!
