This is a novella that will take you deeper into the world of Nelly and Yadah. It’s a timelapse of their continued journey filled with heartwarming (& hilarious) text threads, juicy social media posts, and key scene snippets for each month leading up to the epilogue. Please keep in mind that this is not a story where you’re going to get every single aspect of this next year together as that is not the purpose.

This novella’s purpose is to bridge the gap between the end of With Kookies on Top and the epilogue. Though it will give the readers who want MORE, more... this novella is NOT necessary to complete their story, nor is it a second part, but it’s a great addition.

NOTE: Do not read this before reading With Kookies on Top as this is meant to be read after (specifically between the end of With Kookies on Top and the epilogue).

About the author

Miami bred, Bella Jay (born Precious Rodgers) has had a love for books since she was a little girl. Getting lost in them was a favorite past time but writing them has become a true love. In 2018, with a little push she stepped out on faith and released her first novel to the world allowing her writer alter ego, Bella Jay, to take flight into the writing industry.

She writes spicy & contemporary Black romance books with unapologetically flawed characters who she loves to fix.

When she’s not wrapped up in her characters, she can be found traveling the world, building her empire, sipping on tea or wine while reading a book, and wishing healthy eats were pancakes or cupcakes.

Kookie Crumb is the perfect cherry on top—or should I say, crumb on top—of With Kookies on Top. This novella is a heartwarming and humorous time-lapse of Nelly and Yadah’s first official year together, bridging the gap between the final chapter and the epilogue of their love story.

While it’s not a second book or a must-read for understanding their story, it’s everything for those of us who fell in love with these characters and craved more. Through hilarious group chats, juicy Instagram posts and comments, and monthly scene snippets, Bella Jay gives us a “day in the life” feel that feels both intimate and satisfying.

I loved seeing their growth, both individually and together, and the little details that made their relationship even more special. And in true Bella Jay fashion, the banter, social media chaos, and friends’ shenanigans had me laughing out loud. Jay’s “crash out” era was hard to watch, but it makes me even more eager for his redemption and love story.

Between the main novel and this novella, Bella really didn’t leave a stone unturned for Nelly and Yadah. The ending was perfect—true to them and done on their terms. While I’m content with where they are now, I’ll never say no to more updates…and I’ll definitely be first in line for Jay’s book.

If you haven’t read With Kookies on Top, read that first—then treat yourself to this sweet and satisfying slice of their happily ever after.

I loved this addition to the story. When you find characters that you love and end up wanting more from them, this novella gives you just that. This was like a day in the life or behind the scenes of With Kookies on Top and allowed us to get into what happened with Nelly and Yadah between the last chapter and the epilogue. It gives you IG posts and comments and more insight into Jay's crash out era. I wouldn't mind if more authors did additions like this for our favorite characters when we want more of them.

Between the main story and this addition, I don't think Bella left any stone unturned with Nelly and Yadah and while I wouldn't mind more updates on them, I'm left ready and excited for Jay's story whenever it comes.

I read this immediately after finishing WKOT, because clearly I can't get enough of Nelly & Yadah 🥹 I'm going to miss them.

Love this time lapse novella of the first official year of their love story. Make sure you read the other books before reading this one.

the love and growth for both of them was so evident.

the group chats, and WSOT comment section in true Bella Jay fashion had me laughing.

I feel so bad for my boy Jay, he was definitely crashing out and going through it but I can't wait to read his journey to healing and love.

The ending was so perfect and glad they did it the way they wanted to.

If With Kookies on Top was the main course, Kookie Crumb is the deliciously decadent dessert. This novella gives us a hilarious, heartwarming peek into Nelly & Yadah’s first year together with group chats, IG chaos, inside jokes, and all the little moments that make their story so special.

Reading this is not required to understand their story, but if you LOVED them like I did, you’ll want every crumb Bella Jay gives us. The ending is perfectly them and I am going to miss them.

I recommend reading With Kookies on Top first—then enjoy this sweet, funny, and satisfying treat. 🍪

I read 'December 31st' in the passenger seat of a car stuck in traffic while Photograph by Ed Sheeran played through the speakers and all I'll say is they were very happy tears🥹. 10 out of 10, would definitely recommend. I love that we get a glimpse of their messy yet perfect lives before we wrap the story up. Miss Bella Jay, girl... I laughed, cried, criticized, and did some healing reading Nelly and Yadah's story. You got me wanting to clone a fictional man, lol.

The Perfect Top to the Kookies!!

If you have not read With Kookies on Top, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE READ THAT BEFORE THIS!!

This is a time-lapse novella that takes us a little further through the year of Nelly & Yadah's whirlwind romance. It takes us on a month-to-month tour of the happenings of the couple. It gives a behind-the-scenes look at the proposal and the idea of the elopement. Despite being able to see the downward spiral of Jay, this was literally the Kookies on top of your favorite dessert. I know one thing, I need a Kristmas on my team bc it is one thing she does not play about is Yadah! She stays in these social media streets with major comebacks when someone steps out of line. 😂🤣 Now I'm ready for Jay's story bc my guy is spiraling BAD!! And I just really need for X & Yadah to tap Mariah just one good time for him!! Ughhhhh!!!
