The biggest threat they confront may not be the building flames around them, but rather the growing emotions and unresolved tensions simmering silently between them.
Cole I swore I'd never jump again after losing my best friend to a fire like this one. But when I hear Jo's voice crackling through the radio— trapped, injured, with flames bearing down on her— I know I'm the only one who can reach her in time. Every instinct screams at me to stay grounded, but I'm already suiting up, pushing down the memories that threaten to paralyze me. Some things are worth facing your worst nightmares for.
Jo I've always prided myself on being the best at what I do, but now I'm hanging from a tree with a dislocated arm and a wildfire racing toward me. When I see Cole's parachute cutting through the smoke, I can hardly believe it— everyone knows he doesn't jump anymore. But here he is, risking everything to save me. Now we're both trapped, fighting our way through hell together, and I'm discovering that sometimes the most dangerous fires aren't the ones you can see.

Each novella promises steamy romance, no cheating, no cliffhangers, and a happily-ever-after amidst the backdrop of wildfires and fierce love.
Some books grab you from page one and refuse to let go—Hemlock Firestorm did exactly that. This isn’t just a wildfire romance; it’s a story about grief, resilience, and two people who discover that the fire inside them might be just as dangerous—and just as necessary—as the blaze they’re fighting to survive.
Together, they battle impossible odds, racing against the inferno while confronting the pain of their shared past. The tension isn’t just physical survival—it’s emotional survival too. The sparks between them are undeniable, but can Cole risk opening himself up when he’s spent years shutting down? Can Jo trust the man who left the fireline… and maybe her too?
What I adored most was the balance—Brenna Barkley doesn’t shy away from the adrenaline of wildfire scenes (my pulse was racing right along with the characters), but she also gives us the quiet, aching moments where love pushes past fear. It’s tender, raw, and beautifully human.
Bottom line: Hemlock Firestorm is more than a romance—it’s a story of second chances, healing, and the courage it takes to leap into the fire for love.

I felt for these two, they had been through a lot, finding out about some of it came as a bit of a shock to me. It took me a bit to warm to them as characters and to see them as a couple, but once I did I liked seeing them learn to work together, to support each other, respect one another, help each other, and open themselves up to what they were feeling.
