No matter how complex the challenge, the human mind tackles it in much the same by breaking the space-time surrounding the problem into smaller parts. These parts are further broken down into subcomponents—even smaller fragments—until they reach a size that can be managed by our cognitive capacity. We then address each piece methodically, one step at a time, until all elements of the problem are resolved—leading to the resolution of the whole. Within the space-time we dedicate to solving a problem, we progress through each step sequentially, in a specific order.
