Since his father died, Dylan has defended New Orleans as the one and only ROGUE SUN. Now, his half-sister Aurie has joined him in her own suit of armor, but a familiar presence lurks at the source of her power, and a new foe threatens to tear the siblings apart-if he doesn't destroy them first. Collects ROGUE SUN #25-29
Twice the Rogue Suns, twice the problems. Dylan and Aurie attempt to make it work, but with clashing ideologies, not to mention both Marcus and Caleb in their ears telling them what to do, it seems like neither of them are going to be able to stop new toxic villain Noxious from murdering some insurance company CEOS - and the question remains...if they even should.
This book is still fun as hell. The writers have managed to hit a sweet spot for Dylan, so he can be a little shit and not be an irritating protagonist to read, and seeing him in the mentor role (sort of) after spending so long learning himself is fun too. His and Aurie's interplay as they try to work their way through combat and morality is compelling stuff, and the final page cliffhanger looks like there's going to be a hell of a lot more problems on their horizon to deal with too.
I do wish Abel could draw the series in full - not that the fill-in/assistant artists he gets aren't good, but I always associate Image books with having one writer/artist, and both Rogue Sun and Radiant Black seem to be struggling with that these days.
