Mabel is an Omega on the run in her dystopian city when she’s hit with a surprise heat. She’s out of surpressant (and luck) when she’s cornered by the two brothers she’s been trying to avoid for years. Mabel finds herself stuck between the men and a brick wall (literally). She doesn’t know that they’ve been looking for her— and have no intention on letting her go.

Whooooooo! This was such a great novella. Quick, spicy, with a genuinely interesting story line. K. S. Odessa was able to fit a compelling story with spice AND a revenge plot in less than 200 pages 🤯 That’s EXACTLY what I’m looking for in a novella.

I got this book based purely on its cover during Dark Romance Team’s Spook Your Kindle Event. The tropes made this the first book I read from this event and I was not disappointed. This will be a new staple in my book rec rotation. (Yes, I bought a paperback for my trophy shelf.) 😁

TLDR: Spicy, dark omegaverse novella with half-brother MMCs rescuing their Omega hit with a surprise heat.

I reeeeaaally wish this was a full-length novel or even just a little longer. I’m so curious about the world they’re in, and the world building in the book is pretty lacking and a little confusing, which is why this got knocked down a star and a half. Had the book been complete with proper world building, this would have easily been a 5-star read.

I’m not sure why Mabel doesn’t reveal the reason she left all those years ago, but it definitely made for a great twist at the end. She finally gets revenge for her parent’s murders, and it was awesome. I quite enjoyed the bit of filth between her and Tobias while Warren took care of business.

It’s pretty obvious that Warren and Tobias have been obsessed with Mabel for a while. I love that they took care of her without her knowledge for so long. It was so cute. I also enjoyed that smidge of taboo at the end. IYKYK. It took me a bit by surprise, but I can get with it.

Overall, this was a super quick and enjoyable read.

Real Rating: 3.5 stars.

This was fast paced, quite literally jumped into the smut. Which was lovely. It was driven by the men for pleasure for their lady. Which had always been the cause she just didn't see how in love they were. I enjoyed their time together.

Now what I didn't enjoy was the addition to world building. Which on the surface doesn't make sense. Let me explain. Tidbits of this greater world were thrown in but not explained. The dome, oxygen masks, why the world was dying before. None of that was explained. It felt they were trying to add too much depth to a story they were writing as a short story. Making it feel scattered. As well as uncomplete.

How i wish this one was longer cause I absolutely enjoyed from start to beginning the fire in Mabel with everything she suffered thanks to Alaric. He is an awful person .

The history between warren, Mabel, and Tobias, then them as adults, the chemistry and tension they still had between each other.

The ending, omg that so hot and loved it so much .

This was such a quick read for me which I loved but also I needed more! I gave it a 3 because I wish I had more background on the characters. I enjoyed how quick into the “action” we got. No wasting time there!

I loved the personalities and I’m hoping to read more with them in the future!

This was an MFM (with a smidge of MM at the very end). I really loved the brothers, and wished we saw more of them and maybe parts told from their POV. The omegaverse bits were exactly what I like to see from this trope. I felt like there were parts of the overall story missing. But for a new to me (and never heard of) author, it was really great.

*I would’ve liked to see the relationship develop between the characters so I could be more invested in them
*There was very little plot. I did feel like the potential was there, though, if this had been a full length novel.
