I was supposed to die by a knife through my heart that night.

But the stars of Verenthia have a different plan for me- -which is to get kidnapped by a snow-white lynx that shouldn't even be real, and held hostage by a sentient building.

Yes, I said building. For real.

Rune is gone. The lifebond with the Seelie Prince is broken. And I’m trapped in a court of frost and silence, hunted by a damn truth that refuses to stay buried.

And it all ties back to a dead queen whose face I just so happen to wear.

Now I have to uncover who she was, what she did both to herself and to me, and why. Because something is stirring in Verenthia, something ancient that I am most definitely not prepared for.

As luck would have it, nobody gives a shit about my feelings, but that's okay. I'm nothing if not stubborn, and I do manage to find my way to Rune eventually. I even ended up meeting his dad.

Not the smartest move I could have made, though.

Because it turns out, the Midnight King doesn’t like surprises. Especially the kind that look like me.

4.5 stars for me.

Author did it again, book 3 in the series full of action, betrayal magic and romance.Nilah is growing and learning her powers, can't wait for her to kick some (you know what).Rune can't seem to have any rest,as a MMC he's great and the romance between him and Nilah is sweet and spicy.

Would recommend this series for fantasy romance with spice fans.

I love this story and series so much! Nilah has grown into herself a lot in this book and I loved that the story really focused on who she is and why she is able to have magic in the first place. One character loss really hit in this though, rip homie even if I'm not sure I can ever trust them based on what we later learn from The Broken Crown. Rune the poor guy seems to never catch a break 😢 That cliffhanger is absolutely brutal, maybe the worst one yet! I hope the story finds a happily ever after since I'm so invested in this imaginary relationship 🤣 I can't wait to see if the final book in this series wraps everything up and how everyone's journey ends...hopefully with a dead prince, 10/10 not a fan and agree with Nilah's choice in men now 🙄 Love me some Rune ❤️ 100% recommend

Nilah, our strong girl. You deserve so much for what you had to go through in book 3. And the ending, I’m crying and screaming with you.

This book is world building, emotional and right when you think they finally won and get some time. It all comes crashing back down.

I know Rune will not stop till he gets her back. Their love is bigger than fae magic. It’s destined by the stars.

I did receive an advance reader copy in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to D.N. Hoxa who has shared these characters with us. This world is truly magic and I can’t wait to jump back into it with book 4.

I love that we got a book where it focused specifically on Nilah and her journey of self discovery but also finding out the truth. Even though we saw less of Rune this time, the moments we did get with him were special. It was really cool to see other courts and witness what was happening to them when it came to the magic left in the land. Vair is probably one of my top favorite animal companions in a fantasy world! He brought a type of comfort to Nilah and to myself as well as I got to witness Nilah overcome some challenges. I don't know how, but this cliffhanger ending frustrated me more than the first two 😂 Can’t wait to see how this series is going to wrap up!! Thank you D.N. Hoxa for this arc opportunity 💙

I really liked the beginning of the series, but for some reason by the 30% mark, I wasn't invested anymore or interested in the main characters. It wasn't the writing as much as the story for me.

I may pick it up in the future but had to shelve it for now.

Aaaahhhhhh!!!

4⭐️/3🔥

Once again, Hoxa has left me on a cliffy! Cue the song, "You Can't Always Get What You Want" because this is the story of Rune and Nilah's friggin life! Sheesh! I do like Vair though & he seems like a constant support for Nilah's journey, so if something happens to him, I quit! Lol. Now to await the arrival of book 4 and the craziness Hoxa is going to throw at me this time! 😅

rcvd an advanced reader copy from the author for giving my review voluntarily. cliffhanger.....WHY!! in the previous book Rune had just stabbed Nilah bc Lyall coaxed him to do it..but in reality it was an illusion to get out of there. Hessa helped her out and made way to the dungeon where they were keeping Lyalls uncle. Rune, Hessa and Nilah manage to escape and end up in a mountain cave with the resistance. An attack happens and Nilah feels helpless and all she remembers is being really cold and everything covered in frost. in her haze, she sees a white animal dragging her away from Rune. She awake in an unknown castle and this creature speaks to her in her own voice and learns that he, Vair, was made by the Ice Queen. nilah must answer some questions on order to be let out of the ice palace...which is a dilemma all in itself. nilah had more questions than answers and sets out on a request to find them....but at what cost? Drama, OMG moments and why why why questions makes this a good read. next one please!!

Nilah and Rune, book 3

Well I thought this was the final book in the series but it isn’t. It ends in a cliffhanger so gotta wait for book 4 now. How long is this series anyway?

Nilah is really dramatic in this one. Like over the top, overly dramatic. She overthinks everything. She and Rune are apart for half the book, the middle part, and she’s an absolute stress puppy. I kept wanting to tell her to take a deep breath and calm herself down and for once, listen to the people who are trying to help her. She is exhausting. She has a new friend, Vair the lynx, but he irritates her and she doesn’t trust him. She doesn’t trust anyone.

Throughout this book, Nilah continues to fight and deny her magic and it makes things worse for her. I was really hoping she’d be a little more accepting of her place in this world instead of arguing with everyone and denying who she is. Her lack of growth was annoying.

She meets people who give her bits and pieces of advice that just confuse her (and us readers) even more. It’s like everyone is talking in riddles. She meets Rune’s father late in the book which compels the cliffhanger. So I’m guessing everything will come together in the 4th book. The 3 stars are because of the amt of time she and Rune are apart making it difficult for them to progress as a couple, and for Nilah’s total lack of self awareness and growth. Plus she was just too dramatic and immature.

It’s told mainly from Nilah’s POV but there’s a couple chapters with Rune’s POV. I wish there was more of that. He isn’t over-dramatic like Nilah and is easier to read.

“There was nothing before you. I woke up. I survived. I went to sleep…Now I want to wake up and live and go to sleep - with you. You’re my purpose.”

---ARC Review---

Even though Rune and Nilah spend most of this installment apart, I found myself thoroughly engaged with Nilah’s journey to uncover the truth. Her path was intense and emotionally charged, packed with trials that tested her resilience in ways that felt both harrowing and believable. That said, I wish we’d been given more chapters from Rune’s POV; his presence would have provided a welcome counterbalance to the heaviness of Nilah’s experiences and kept the pacing more dynamic.

“...I would rather end up with Rune than continue on my own.”

While the spice from book two takes a step back here, it’s replaced by a surge in worldbuilding and emotional development. The political tensions, the looming threat of the Seelie Court, and the foreshadowing around Verenthia’s fate all worked together to build an undercurrent of suspense. Thankfully Vair, the sass-filled yet apathetic lynx, offered just the right touch of humor to keep the darker moments from becoming overwhelming.

“That bird was my friend. My hope. It was a promise that Rune was close and I was safe.”

By the end, the book had built up so much momentum that the cliffhanger left me audibly reacting; D.N. continued to deliver twists that demand the next book immediately. The combination of foreshadowing, unanswered questions, and Nilah’s growth made me eager (and slightly anxious) to see what’s in store for her and Rune in book four.

“Except for Rune, every person I’d met in this fucking place had just proved to me why they shouldn’t be trusted.”

Thank you, D.N., for allowing me to be a part of your ARC team and read Fractured ahead of its release date.

I keep coming back for more D.N.'s works. Stop! If you haven't read Lifebound and Moonmarked (books 1 & 2), because you will be confused as it picks up where the other leaves off.

Nilah Dune was supposed to be dead with a knife through her heart by the one she loved due to the prince's command but the stars had a different plan for her and everything she's done up to this point was to figure out why.

This time a snow-white lynx kidnaps her while she's on the run only to guide her to finding this truth and it all ties back to a dead queen who she looks exactly like. Nilah is no quitter, so she keeps pulling on the thread to find out who this queen was and what and why she did both to herself and Nilah.

Nilah takes hit after hit throughout this journey, but will she be able to get to the bottom of it and finally the truth or will this journey be in vain?

I appreciated how much growth Nilah had in this book. And when I say Nilah takes hit after hit, she and Rune never seem to catch a break, but all the mysteries and the need to figure it out keeps the story going. Even though Rune's appearance was shorter in this book, we got to discover more of what Verenthia was like especially at other castles/courts through Nilah's journey for the truth.

This book does end in a cliff hanger. Book 4 can't come fast enough!

If you love an epic adventure with lots of character growth, shadow daddy MMC and some 🌶, this book is for you.

Thank you to the author for an e-arc of this!

I will start off stating I really enjoy this series overall and have been salvating for each new installment.

Book 3 here did not stand up to the same level as books 1 & 2 like I was hoping however. This read felt very much like a filler book, which wouldn’t have minded except I feel like we didn’t really get ANY answers along the way. What we did get was very vague and didn’t really provide much insight into our questions and I ended with more questions than answers. I’m hoping the last book, book 4, will really wrap up a LOT of things.

We venture to different courts this book, which I was excited about but we didn’t really get to go into a ton of detail about them, which is what I was hoping more for.

Nilah and Rune spent a lot of this book apart, and we did get a few chapters from Rune’s POV, which helped gap what was happening for him but it was only a chapter or 2.

We had a couple spicy 🌶️ scenes, which was nice but I enjoyed book 2, which had a few more and the dialogue was way more intense and hot as hell 🥵 this book, the scenes were good but since Nilah and Rune weren’t together as often, we didn’t get too much. I DID enjoy though the little intimacy moments for them, just as simple as holding hands in front of others and not hiding their relationship. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed their relationship development and love Rune as a MMC. He’s all about his woman and is truly devoted to her.

Overall, I wasn’t as in to this book. I felt like it was designed to be a filler book, which is fine, but I felt lost a lot of the time and don’t feel like we truly got anything answered, even if just a little.

I WILL be continuing to series and can’t wait for book 4 though.

I REALLY wanted to like this book. I very much enjoyed the first two, but this one just seemed to fall flat. There's absolutely no character growth. Don't get me wrong we learn things, but the main character remains a scared little mouse the entire time. Everybody tries to tell her what to do, how to control her magic, etc. but no. and the few times she does magic, it's completely on accident. It's not because she's controlling it or doing it on purpose and that's extremely annoying to me because at that point it might as well be somebody else 'saving the day.'

I about 25% of the way through the book I just started skimming because a lot of things are way over explained. Too much detail takes you out of the story. I don't need to know where every person is every step of the way, and what every inch of every hallway looks like... and the redundancies. 'I couldn't move if I wanted to' and then she's moving. Like what?!

The series storyline, is good, the idea behind it. I just this this particular book was mostly pointless. There wasn't a whole lot of progression at all in the storyline or in the characters growth (individually and as the main character couple) removing a lot of the unnecessary extra would have made this better. I will still be finishing up the series because I am curious how it's going to end. Which brings me to my last annoyance point. This was supposed to be the last book and now (IMO because of all the unnecessary extras) suddenly there's one more. le sigh....ok. fine whatever.

This is the third book in the Royal sins series, and I’ve loved all the characters along the way and the wonderful world building. This book picks up right where we left off from book 2 and I’m so happy I got to dive into this right away. Our FMC grows so much as she learns of who she is, her new found powers, and how to use it, And to see her grow.💕 RMMC room, has become even more powerful and would burn the world for Nilah.
Introducing us to new realms, was so exciting and meeting the snow links was pretty important to Nilah. And I’m sorry, but EXCUSE ME! But that twist! And that CLIFFHANGER!!
Nilah and spent a lot of time apart in this book and I wish we got to see more of Runes pov but that didn’t take away from the book for me I’m hooked with this series and I can’t wait for the final book!

I really didn’t expect this cliffhanger even though I knew it was coming. In an effort to not give too much away I just have to say that poor Nilah is put through the wringer in this book, and this book is mostly about her. This book also shines an entirely new light on meet the parents. Especially when her search for the truth, while it is admirable, will almost completely shatter her sense of self, and I can see why. It is amazing that the poor girl is still sane! If you enjoyed the other books in this series, then you absolutely do not want to miss this one. Most of the characters were introduced in the previous books and they are all just as fascinating, but this book might give a clearer understanding of their motives and their temperaments whether you liked the individual character or not. So many twists in the plot that kept me guessing from the first page made it impossible to put this book down. Some bloody battles, magic, and plenty of steam between Nilah and Rune kept me riveted. I loved this book and highly recommend it to other readers, although I must add that it is necessary to read the first two books in this series before diving into this one.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC provided by the author.

Moronic main character

Wow. I am so incredibly disappointed in the sheer idiocy of the main character. She is as incompetent and worthless as they come. I understand that she’s supposed to be inexperienced and untrained, but the fact that during EVERY single moment in this book she’s useless. She doesn’t use logic or thought. All she does is panic and constantly puts herself in unnecessary positions. Additionally, these moments drag on for an unnecessary long time because of this. I literally skipped through paragraphs just to get to the point. Any time she does anything of significance it’s not even done intentionally and she does it on a whim, which leads to more issues. Her character isn’t driven on the fact that she could do good for others, she’s selfish and hysterical through the entire book. I had hopes she would have character development and grow her intelligence at SOME POINT. Also, is so cringey that she says “daddy” during intimate encounters. I get that is a kink for some individuals, but it’s so misplaced and uncomfortable in this. Overall, terrible book (I actually enjoyed the first two, but this was just a waste of time).

I wanted more from the third book in the series. There was a whole of talking with nothing getting resolved and nothing happening. It felt like everything was being described a minimum of 3x over and over and over and over again (making it longer than necessary).

Can we stop making the FMC a stupid 18 yo??? Shes so whiney and in denial it takes her 3-4 times to deny things before she can even take one step forward. She doesnt think about anything past Rune and cant stand on her own two feet for even a second. She is so annoying.

I wanted more Rune chapters- no. I expected more Rune chapters since his introduction in book 2. At least then the reader would have a break from a whiney, tantrum-throwing teenager. Like 50%of Nilah’s story in this book was a tantrum. And can we talk about how her swearing doesnt make any sense? It adds to her childishness and doesnt even seem well placed (like the sex scenes).

Overall, kinda disappointed in this third installation and honestly it probably could have been a trilogy.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Because we’re three books in and I absolutely don’t want to spoil anything for anyone either reading this series or who wants to read this series I am going to keep this review pretty short! First off this book picks up right where book two ended and thank goodness for that because I was desperate to know what was going to happen next… but the plot twists just keep twisting and turning all throughout this book, and while the spice of this book may have been placed on a back burner the romance, the emotions, and the chemistry between Rune and Nilah take center stage! So if you’re looking for a book that’s full of twists and turns, amazing characters, plenty of romance, and a cliffhanger ending that’ll once again leave you breathless than I highly recommend grabbing a copy of fractured today!

After the shocking cliffhanger in Moonmarked, Fractured book three picks up MFC Nilah’s story with her love MMC Rune’s words echoing in her mind… trust me as he commits a profound act against her.
The Lifebond between her and Prince Lyall has now been broken while deep rooted ancient magic mixes with prophecy, secrets, intrigue, suspense, heartache, and mistrust holding Nilah trapped and apart from Rune.
Another expertly written advancement in the storyline may bring the reader closer to resolutions but not before having joined it’s characters on a wild and amazing journey that never fails to craft new pathways littered with action and adventure as Nilah’s allusive HEA remains distant and beckoning. Cliffhanger!.

I really struggled to get through the middle of this book. The lynx came off very annoying and the yo-yo-ing and bickering for 40% of the book really made me want to pull my hair out. It felt a lot like fighting with a toddler.

I’m also not a fan of the FMC and MMC constantly getting separated - especially when the MMC is doing everything he can to get her back while she has a different agenda. I’m all for female empowerment and growth, but the love between the main characters doesn’t feel equal. It’s sad to see such a strong MMC become a simp and follow her around like a lost puppy.

The scene where they finally reunite was so dismal and underwhelming. Then proceeding to roll full speed right into a spicy scene felt disconnected - was really hoping for more and was left unsatisfied. Their love story really takes a back seat in this book and feels unmaintained.

I will read the next book because the cliffhanger has me intrigued and hopes of more Rune.

I hate cliffhangers

I don’t understand the point of writing a book and then not finishing it but releasing it anyway and making me wait years to read the next one, so I for get the story, and then….the series is really good, okay? But if I ever meet the author, I’m throwing my drink in her face for not releasing books together. I’m never reading an unfinished series ever again. Such a waste of time, emotion and….and I’m mad! This book was all anxiety. From start to finish, hella anxiety, edge of your seat, and the whole time I’m expecting this to be the final book, so I’m waiting, reading obsessively, to finally know WHY and WHAT is even going on, and then….A CLIFFHANGER AGAIN. Hoxa….Im mad at you for this. Such a good series, great storyline, easy to follow, blah blah blah - ITS ANOTHER INCOMPLETE ENDING AND NO WORD OF THE NEXT BOOK AND THATS MEAN!

Wilful Ignorance.

That basically sums up this book. Lyall is a mama's boy who grew up to be dang near exactly what she envisioned—she certainly dint aim low with world domination. Midnight Court King is as evil as expected and Nilah is a GD and was what, uncomfortable when faced with the fact that he needed to die? Had she not tried to hold back Rune and Vair, maybe being cursed back to earth wouldn't have happened. Or maybe, if she hadn't spent the entire book trying bury her head in the sand about who/what she is and practice her dang magic, she could have actually been more helpful instead of a unpredictable liability.

I'm going to finish the fourth book because I do want to see how it all ends but I'll admit, I skimmed large sections of this book because shocker—I still hate Nilah.

Book three of the Royal Sins series, Fractured pulls us back where Moonmarked left off. This fantasy romance delivers with emotional tension, fated mates, prophecies, and more detailed world building that left me mesmerized. Nihla’s growth in this book was the main focal point for me. Just when I thought I had been pulled back from the cliff I was hanging from in book two, I was delivered straight into another emotionally charged adventure as Nihla seeks answers and searches for Rune. In true Hoxa fashion we are brought back to a cliffhanger after so many twists in the story, anticipation is too small of a word to describe the wait for book four to see where Rune and Nihla end up.

Amazing!

This was such a great book! It picks up right after book two and jumps right into things! You get to go on a ride with Nilah as she figures out her connections to the Ice Queen and how she can continue to try to fix all the things that Lyall set in motion. This was a great development for her as she was on her own for a good portion of the book growing as she figured out the past and what happened. I loved that she got to learn on her own as I was worried her dependency on Rune’s knowledge of fae culture and his own history might distort her ability to grow. This was so well done.

And that cliffhanger — book four can’t come fast enough so we can see where this all leads!

First of all can we say how exceptional this cover is! It literally draws you in. But that's nothing compared to how this story is literally going to suck you in and never let you go.

Nilah, our FMC, has truly shown growth in this book. She definitely went through so much. She went through so much turmoil. It definitely was not an easy path for her. I would have loved to have gotten more of a story from Runes side of things.

This book is going to take you on an emotional roller coaster. I do want to say that ending ripped me to shreds. as if I.
Wasn't already emotional enough. That cliff hanger just has me sitting here like a dog chasing my own tail.

This is another five star read from this author for me.

Secrets, prophecy, and betrayals.
The third book in The Royal Sins series picks up exactly where book two left off, bringing the same anxiety inducing pace. We delve further into the secrets of the prophecy and begin to find out how Nilah factors into it.
Our FMC, Nilah, grows by leaps and bounds as she learns about her powers and who she is.
Our MMC, Rune, has become an even more powerful shadow daddy, and he'll do anything for Nilah. Anything.
We are introduced to new realms that continue to build the world, and we get to learn more about some of the side characters that play important roles. We also meet Vair, the snow lynx, whose guidance is critical for Nilah.
The tension had me on the edge of my seat throughout the book, and I absolutely did NOT see the plot twist at the end coming!!! (I love when that happens)
Like, excuse me!!! That cliffhanger?? Wth, ma'am??
The fourth and final book of the series needs to happen now, please!!
(This is actually 4.5⭐️,I wish that were an option on review sites)

This book provides a lot answers to questions but it was my least favorite. Overall the series is good and this one again leaves the reader on a cliffhanger. Less Rune in book 3 but there were a few chapters with his POV which was a nice change. I was hoping in book 3 Nilah would grow on me but she is still is a very irritating FMC, she’s always whining or complaining about something. The chapters in the ice castle were especially painful to read, girl put your big girl panties on and get things done! Hoping book 4 will showcase a stronger Nilah that doesn’t act like a kid having a tantrum.

The third installment of this series is a trip. I’ve never been more frustrated with Nilah than I was in this book. The whole time she just couldn’t get over herself and I just wanted to slap her and tell her to freaking woman up and deal with it. Denying and basically refusing to do what needed to be done wasted so much of her time and energy.

The ending was kinda strange and a little anticlimactic. I don’t know, this book just left me feeling kind of meh and it just didn’t match the level of the first two.

❤️😲EXTRAORDINARY!

While Rune had begged Nilah to trust him, Nilah had doubts.

She saw blood, lots of it, on her.
He was holding a dagger in his hand.

But what had just happened, she wondered, amazed...

>>>>>

An extraordinary sequel, read almost in one go, overflowing with action, surprises, and danger, and which tells the story of Nilah and Rune's misadventures.

I literally loved everything about it!!
The plot is breathtaking!

The ending is incredible!
Can't wait for the fourth volume!!

A must-read!

Fractured

🔥- I thought this was a 3 book series. 😭 disappointed it’s still got another book. This one ruined it for me. Stuff happens but I feel like nothing happens at all. She gets kidnapped yet wants to do everything except what she needs to do in order to leave? All the sudden she doesn’t want to figure out the magic she’s been doing? Like I don’t understand that plot at all. I also don’t understand why she’s so insistent on going back to earth? Don’t think I’ll be reading the next one tbh.
