Paranormal romance thriller episodes revolving around a pair of unlikely partners in their quest for truth, justice, and a pint of blood.
There are those who hunt the night, and then there's Liz Stokes. She's a normal woman with an abnormal roommate until he up and gets himself murdered. Now she's inherited his unique ring and even more unique business partner, and the world of the paranormal is sprung on her like a surprise birthday party nobody wants. Together the pair find out that they don't like each other. A lot. The catch? They can't kill each other or the survivor will die, too.
Now Liz has to navigate this new and frightening world while dealing with her equally new and frightening companion. It's a mad chase with mad scientists, men in black, and cop werewolves who want to take more than a bite out of crime.

Liz's world is turned upside down when her roommate is murdered. It turns out he had a big secret. He left a ring and when she puts it on, she is bound to a vampire, Vincent. Cops and werewolves are after her and she has to figure out all that is happening.
So, I enjoyed the book, but Liz was so annoying with her whining and stubbornness. There were times I wanted to shake her and say you are going to get yourself killed - stupid.
That said, Vincent is a jerk too - who really wasn't explaining anything to her and just expecting her to come along with him.
A lot needs to be sorted out between the two of them before I will like either one.
Liz Stokes came across a guy in the bushes one night when she was heading home. No, he wasn’t stalking her or choking the chicken. Actually, he was beat up pretty good, so she took him home with her. Luckily Timothy Hamilton was a good guy and not some serial killer. They ended up being roommates and occasional lovers until the day he was murdered. And that’s when the life as she knows it gets tossed out on its ass and her new unbelievable, are you fucking kidding me, life begins.
With the murder of Timothy, Liz inherits his weird ring and his even weirder business partner and is suddenly thrown into a paranormal life she had zero idea existed. The learning curve is steep and Liz isn’t buying it even though she’s seeing this shit with her own two eyes. So, while I like Liz and her snarky attitude, I really can’t stand how dumb she is at times. Vincent is an asshole. But he’s supposed to be so it’s all good. Lol
The story could use a bit more editing, but it’s a great idea with a decent execution. For this first book there’s really only three main characters: Liz, Vincent, and some strange guy named Frederick “Bat” Batholomew. There is a Big Bad in the form of Lord William Ruthven, but I don’t yet know who or what he is or what he wants. I suspect he’ll play a bigger role in the next books. The story is suspenseful, humorous, and intriguing, so I’m looking forward to reading more.
Romance? Not a drop. Humor? More than I can handle.
I was a little disappointed there was not a lick of romance---thought it was written by a guy (no shade, Mac, the story just has a whole lot of action and comedy) Don't let the romance-drought turn you away, I think I cracked a side laughing and it is a fantabulous story. A human woman gets magically paired with a no nonsense vampire who it probably hurts to smile. His partner has a steep learning curve about all things paranormal, and he's not a bit of help. No chemistry whatsoever between the MC, BUT she may be crushing on someone else and I don't think Vincent is going to like that very much... for whatever reason. Haven't figured out what that will be yet, so on to book two.
This series was a nice quick read. The whole book moved along so quickly. Liz and Vincent are at odds with each other begrudging the fact that, unbeknownst to Liz, they are now bound to each other for the foreseeable future. The sass is strong with Liz and I think it compliments Vincent with his over the top brooding at times. She whines a lot in the first book, but Vince is also kind of a jerk since he doesn't want to be bound to her at. all. She's having to figure everything out for herself about what is happening to her, with very little help from Vincent. I think though my favourite character in this series is Bat! He is funny and tries to point Liz in the right direction with what is happening in this new life she's found herself in. Overall great series!
The story is not bad as well for the humour, well maybe a bit to much sassy from her site. But I thought it will be a paranormal romance? Didn't read any of it. It's not bad written but something was missing....I missed a bit more excitement as for the development of the characters maybe it comes later....because it's a short story. But there is nothing that encourages me to buy the next book. Sorry!
Liz Stokes finds Timothy Hamilton beat up thrown in some bushes. She takes him home and he becomes her roommate. He has a lot of odd habits and a really odd friend, Vincent. When Timothy goes missing for a week then is found dead, Liz is pulled into a world she doesn't believe in. Instructions for living in this world. This was a fun read and I do want to read more in the series. I gave it 4 stars because it ends with a cliffhanger.
I have not read this author before and as I had the chance to read it for free I wanted to give it a go. I very much enjoyed it, just a little bit of editing would have made it perfect. The characters and their relationship made me laugh, the story flowed well and kept me interested. I especially liked the bit where Liz shouts "you threw Tim!" Great story, I would definitely read more in this series and did not take long to read either.

Love it, human becoming attached to a vampire's life force with a ring. Said ring makes human immortal as long as vampire and human work together to keep themselves alive. If either of them suffer a fatal event, they will both die. The whole paranormal world wants this ring. I will give no details to this book, so you will have to either read it yourself or try for spoilers from someone else.
Alas, this story could have been so much better had the author completed the book. Instead, she made it a novella (not advertised as such), so as to suck you in to buy all the other parts of the book, thereby paying more than an average paperback. I'm annoyed by this type of marketing, so won't be getting any more by this author.
This book is about Liz. After her roommate/boyfriend is killed, Liz learns that his life wasn’t what she expected. Now she has a ring that everyone is trying to kill her for. Thankfully Vincent, her roommate’s partner, will keep her alive... his life depends on it. Great book 1 definitely will be grabbing the rest in the series.
Snappy young woman plus smug and impatient vampire equals supernatural trouble
Clever and well written plot. The story flowed from scene to scene as books of this genre tend to be bloated with constipated words like grandma's Thanksgiving stuffing. Did you get that?
Loved the book, between the irritating Miss L Cognito, the undead Vincent and the endless trouble they get into, still laughing. She is a great feisty character who challenges dead pan Vincent every moment they are together. Can’t wait to read the follow up book. Well done
I LOVE a snarky, funny female. I have my mouth covered because I am laughing so hard, I do not want to wake up my family at 3am. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. I hope they are as kick a## funny as this one was. What off the Mac Flynn. ( this is the first review I have written in over a year. Does that tell ya anything)?
I have enjoyed every Mac Flynn book I have read and this one was no different. Vincent was a serious but funny vampire. Liz is very light hearted for someone who just landed her self in a heap of trouble in the middle of a paranormal world. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
These are not books but short stories some okay some absolute crap this one had at least some humour in it the rest well read a few for yourselves you will be disappointed magdg
A delightful book! Loved the main characters and their constant banter. This is going to be a not so happy relationship, but plenty of good humour and adventures. I could possible believe in a parallel underworld...
Very imaginative, the pairing of these two made me chuckle as initially they can't stand each other. I was sad when her flat mate was murdered and she became bonded with the bad tempered vampire.
Different vampire human connection. Mutual loathing should keep Liz and Vincent far apart, but a previous partner of Vincent's, who was also an apartment sharer of Liz, brought them together. They become grudging partners in a dead-detective business.
I liked the book but I couldn't keep my attention on the book for long. In parts, it just didn't make sense. I had to keep reading until the end. I wasn't to shocked in how it ended.
This fast paced story got off to a running start on the very first page. A vast array of characters are introduced while the story runs. I look forward to the next segment of this story.
I enjoyed this story and thought the characters were believable. This series will make you laugh at the sarcasm and the flat conversation of the dead-tective.
I really wanted to like this book, but just couldnt get passed the dialogue- it was a bit clunky? The storyline was really good, and i will probably try book 2 to see if i was just not in the right mood to read it.
2 1/2 stars. Ok, though the female main character is a bit annoying. She thinks she can just go back to her normal life when it is obvious that she can't. She is upset her world has been turned upside down but just saying the monster will go away if you keep on saying it, doesn't mean it will.
This book made you laugh a lot and cry. I read the book in a couple of hours. The story line is great. I can’t wait to read book 2 to find out what happens next.
Vampire tales take me out of my normal reading pattern. The idea of a dead tective intrigued me. I was not disappointed but as the story seemed to be picking up it ended.
Honestly, a very cute and easy read. There were a few spelling errors and the romance was non existent until the very end lol. But if you enjoy a kind of enemies to friends to lovers type theme, then you’ll like this.
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
