Bad boy meets good girl.

Shy. Sweet. Smart.

Hope Hanson has fictional characters where most people have friends. A loner at school, she thinks love is as fictional as the stories she reads. Real-life love shattered her parents' marriage with punches and screams, resulting in her Dad leaving them. Three months later, her new fractured reality is turned upside down when her Dad returns and Hope becomes his new target.

Grumpy. Sarcastic. Angry.

Heath Travon has almost everything. He's intelligent, rich, and the daydream of the girls at Bellmare High School, but all he wants is to be left alone. Beneath his cold eyes and icy attitude, he's mourning a devastating loss that has him both fighting for every breath and wanting each one to be his last.

By accident they collide in the hallway. One look at her and he finds himself intrigued.

Heath sees the tears she doesn't shed, the bruises she desperately hides, and the truths behind her lies.

Hope sees his buried pain, as well as the thoughts he doesn't reveal and isn't fooled by his tough persona.

As Hope's home situation worsens and Heath's grief spirals, both are determined to help each other. He is adamant about protecting her and she is adamant about saving him.

HELLO??? MY PARENTS ARE BACKKKK OMGG I LOVE THEM BOTH SM, IM OFFICIALLY IN MY PURPLE ERAAA

After a year of waiting… y’all, I’m SOBBING. I don’t even know how to leave this review without spoiling, but—
I LOVE THEM SM AHHHHHH.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE RESPECTS HER AND ALWAYS WANTS TO KEEP THINGS AT HER PACE BECAUSE OF WHAT SHE’S GOING THROUGH?!?!?!

Get you a man that'll get arrested for you, and will gladly do it again just to keep you safe.

Let me start by saying how excited I was the moment this book was released. I literally bought KU just for THEM.

“They say good boys go to heaven, but bad boys bring heaven to you.”

Hope Rose Hanson You don’t understand how happy I was seeing my girl slowly become braver and stronger, especially after being alone for so long. Watching her open up to the people around her healed something in me. She’s so precious, I love her sm, and she has been through A LOT.

PROTECT MY GIRL HOPE AT ALL COSTS PLEASE. SHE HAS BEEN THROUGH ALOT AND ENOUGH, ALL SHE NEEDS IS A DAY OFF WITH UNLIMITED BOOKS TO READ.

Heath mf Travon Y’all… do NOT lower your standards when we have HEATH JAMES TRAVON. He literally sets the standards.

Ask me who my favorite book boyfriend is, and Heath’s name will be the first thing out of my mouth.

That boy was OBSESSED—and I love him for it because his obsession is completely HEALTHY, which is rare to find in books nowadays.

“I want to keep Rose. Not like an object, but as my person.”
Yeah. I’m done for.

Their love is so innocent and soft that my heart genuinely couldn’t take it.

He stops smoking for her. Green flag.
He cares about her the moment he realizes what’s going on with her and her family. Green flag.
He helps her make bracelets and sell them. Green flag.
He bakes with her. Green flag.
He plans a date for a long time and takes her somewhere she’s never been. Green flag.
He respects her and always keeps things at her pace, never rushing intimacy. Green flag.
He builds her a bookshelf and buys her books. Green flag.
He reads her books to understand the kind of guys she likes. Green flag.
He remembers every little detail she ever mentions. Green flag.
He tells her not to lower her standards for a guy like him—even though he is the standard. Green flag.
He’s Heath Travon. Green flag.

In conclusion, ladies, please do NOT lower your standards when we have a man like this right here.

Also, the amount of times I giggled when he calls her “Rose” and “baby” needs to be studied.

AND I noticed how he barely cusses when he’s talking to her??? Plus the way he proudly calls her “my girlfriend” to everyone without hesitation??? Yeah. Wow.

Not to mention we don’t have one, not two, but THREE green-flag men: Heath, Sebastian, AND Xavier Travon.

Yes. Heath’s dad.

I LOVE how he commands respect for his wife—HELLO??? That’s what we NEED. I genuinely have no bad thoughts about that man.

Now… Heath’s parents, on the other hand—yeah, no. Their actions toward him and his sister will NEVER be justified because what the hell?? Ew.

But also… their dynamic reminded me so much of them. AWHHH MIA CARAA

I do wish we had gotten more of Marie’s past, though. I had high hopes for that after reading the first book last year. And I would’ve loved to see more interactions between Hope and Sebastian—their relationship deserves more scenes.

Speaking of Marie and Sebastian… wow. They are both GONERS, and I can’t help but laugh every time they show up. I LOVE THEIR RELATIONSHIP SM.

Nobody hates Alex Hanson more than Heath Travon (and me).

I devoured this book. Like—finished it in ONE DAY.

I had a whole detailed review planned in my head, but the moment I started typing, everything vanished. Sorry if I spoiled too much, y’all—but I loved this book SO MUCH.

Kudos to the lovely author, this is impressive. This duo is where I'll go to when I need my comfort in the future. I know it's not easy trying to finish a book in a deadline that has been set and changed many times.

This book had errors, but it's perfectly imperfect which makes it one of my favourite of all time. same goes to the first book.

English isn't my first language, but reading this and the first book last year feels so easy, despite the TW.

I understand the pressure, and why the ending felt rushed. still wish we had a different ending, though. But I'm proud of this work. Keep fighting, my love! A moment of appreciation to the author for creating H&H!

Waiting for more works in the future, you can do this! I'll be waiting for Sebastian and Marie's books, you know it.

quick thoughts:
↳ I really wish this book had a better ending because that's quite a little of a cliffhanger for me..

↳ I wish I could get a Heath Travon in my doorstep for Christmas...

౨ৎ˚₊ “Maybe you don’t, but I do. I want you to experience everything you’ve read about in books. The magic of love that you believe in. I’ve seen the way your eyes light up when you tell me those stories. You look enchanting, as if that kind of love can only exist in books. I want to change that. I want to be the guy you compare your book boyfriends with. Not the other way around.”

౨ৎ˚₊ “Is there a rule about confessing love on your first date?” “Nope. But even if there were, who cares. Every love story is different.”

౨ৎ˚₊ “I love you too. Much more than the limit.” “Not possible because I love you more.”

౨ৎ˚₊ “Someone once told me, ‘You don’t ask for a hug. You just take it.’”

The grammatical errors make this the first book I almost DNF’d. Whoever edited this book should be fired. There are misspellings, words left out, and mistakes galore. The ending felt rushed, despite the 44 chapters. After how wonderful the first book was, I’m so greatly disappointed in this one.

Overall it was an okay read. There were some grammatical errors and the cliffhanger pmo. But I love Hope and Heath’s relationship. They’re so cute and wholesome. The vibe his parents gave was weird and I’m a little confused with how that ties in with their relationship with Heath. I desperately need a book about Sebastian and Marie!!!

DNF at 35%. How can a book be published with so many grammatical errors? 1/4 of the sentences don’t even make sense. I rated the first book 4 stars so maybe I’ll come back to finish this one once the third book in the series is released, but for right now… no.

i really enjoyed this book, i love heath and hopes story sooo much. there were some grammatical errors here and there, and heath reasked her on their aquarium date like three times and i was kind of confused. i do wish we got to expand more on heaths relationship with his parents, but other than that it was such a cute read. i literally cannot live without having marie and sebastians book!!!

I hate leaving a negative review, since the author seems sweet on social media, but I have seen the reviews on the last book and on this one and tbh I am rather annoyed by how most of them just boil down to “omg Heath and Hope are goals!”

I read the last book rather dismissively, I just brushed off all the negative aspects, because at the time I thought “meh it’s just a romance book”. But this book has so many problems that cannot just be brushed off. I get that it’s a self-published book from a Wattpad writer, but I think books need to be held to a certain standard and Mended does not meet that standard.

1) Spelling, Grammar Mistakes
They are present throughout the book. They are so abundened in this book, that it makes it barely readable. I really implore the author to re-edit this book.
I don’t highlight passages on the kindl, but these are some I remember:
“Why do you let your husband her” p354
“The Sebastian and I clap the loudest” p424
“The kiss is hungry and full of anger as if the thought of letting me go tear him at the seams” p312

2) Continuity Errors
This isn’t a densely packed fantasy epic, and yet it’s cluttered with continuity errors. Hope’s background keeps changing. In one version she never loved her dad, and then it became oh she used to love her dad. In the last book her mom clearly felt a bit of relief when her dad starts beating Hope instead of her. In this book she is recharacterized to be more sympathetic.
In the beginning of the book, when she goes to school, she hears people whisper about how Heath ended up in jail for beating up her dad, towards the end of the book one of her schoolmates brings it up and she is shocked that people know. Hope is surprised that Marie knows about her date, when Heath dropped her at Marie’s place to help her get ready for the date.
Hope tells Heath that she wants to go the the aquarium twice, and then when he actually takes her there she is shocked. That one isn’t a technically an error, but it’s still quite dumb. All this just makes Hope feel, for the lack of a better word, lobotomised.

3) Weird language
These characters speak so weird. I used to watch a lot of movie reviews, and a commonly cited sign of bad writing is when characters explicitly state their relationship so that the audience is immediately aware of how characters relate to each other. In this and the last book characters will do things like explicitly explain the status of their relationship like, “he is my best friend” or “you are my second best friend” and “that is why you are both my friends” over and over again. Like this isn’t Caillou, people don’t talk like this to each other. It’s weird and suggests that the author lacks confidence either in the audience’s ability to grasp the friendship or in her own ability to portray convincing relationships. It is also a common theme in Hope and Heath’s relationship they can’t just be friends or together until there is a formal declaration of friendship/relationship.

The banter is so bad and goes on forever. Someone will be a quick quip, a character will respond with a “witty” response, and you think that’ll be it but then it just goes on for far too long, until the topic is beaten to the ground. I would put in examples, but these just are too long.
On a similar note, there are a lot of scenes where a character is set in motion, like walking toward you, while two other characters continue talking. They’ll banter for ages while that third character is supposedly still approaching, and it’s confusing like is that character still walking toward you. The dialogue isn’t grounded in the physical space and feels like it was written without the environment in mind.

The writing is generally very staggered and very explicit. I mean literally explicit, like everything is stated nothing is left to be read between the lines, every character motivation needs to be explained at least three times, because the author doesn’t have faith that the readers will remember anything.

4) Story
Most of the story is badly written make-out scenes, if you’re into that great. Heath and Hope are in a relationship and there is like no internal conflict. They are so different and yet they never clash or have any other problems, besides the external conflict caused by parents. It comes across as a fantasy aimed at readers who want to indulge in a fantasy of a rich, brooding “bad boy” boyfriend who buys them books. But that’s it. It’s a character-driven story, but it suffers from the writer’s inability to create truly organic characters.

5) Characters
The story wants to be this character-driven story, but the all the characters feel like aliens that are pretending to be tropes. The author unfortunately has no idea or just doesn’t want to create characters that act and sound human. Let go t

Hope
She is an extremely bland character. She has a very few traits, and these are flanderised to the extreme. She likes books. That is mentioned about ten million times. When Heath’s mom talks about meeting Hope she literally says “She was holding a book. I think she likes books”. This has to be one of the most artificial sounding pieces of dialogue I have ever read. I am a reader too, but reading is truly one of the most generic hobbies a person could have. Non-readers do not find reading an interesting hobby. If she were a painter covered in paint, or a musician carrying a violin case, those would be interesting, observable aesthetic traits. But she was carrying a book? No one cares.

One of her other traits. She likes chocolate. Why is it brought up so much that she likes chocolate, truly the second least interesting flavour after vanilla. It was just a minor annoyance to me, because Heath pats himself on the back for knowing that Hope likes chocolate.

Hope doesn’t know anything. She has never tried tea before. I don’t care how sheltered you are, unless you live in actual famished conditions, you have had tea before. And if she really was so sheltered that she has never drunk tea, don’t you think it is worth elaborating on why she hasn’t had access to the literal most basic goods in life. And don’t give me, she grew up in poverty, it’s tea. She has also never had chocolate cake before, even though it’s her favourite flavor... She also doesn’t know about manual and automatic cars. All this to say that she is a straight A student, who reads a lot of books, and she is still somehow always the least knowledgeable person in the room.

You would think that Hope’s “voice” would sound more sophisticated as a result of reading books, but no. Her vocabulary is pretty basic, except for the word “frisson,” which felt more advanced than what’s usually used in the book, but okay, I could buy Hope using it. But then Heath uses it too, and he definitely wouldn’t.
Hope kills her dad at the end of the book. And the book just ends. Like huh??? We aren’t gonna develop this? Ok...

Heath
Heath’s “voice” ranges from nearly unreadable to unreadable. He cusses less in this book, but it’s still very annoying to read.
There is a scene in a car (not sure when exactly), where Hope tells Heath something about the abuse she’s facing and he gets visibly angry, but then relaxes when he sees that it worries Hope. There could have been such an interesting story here, about the how Hope reconciles with the fact that she is in love with an inherently violent man. And Heath is a violent man. He isn’t violent towards her sure, but he’s a boxer, constantly threatens people and initiates physical fights. And Hope is cool with it, because he does it for her. Great message here btw. Heath does NOT have a character arc about becoming less violent or angry or anything like that.
Heath and Sebastian’s dialogue scenes are actual torture, and I really was contemplating on just skipping them. They are awful, there is no wit, the banter is corny and dragged out. The entire dynamic is built on tropes, their interactions don’t feel organic. I mean no one in this book feels like a real human being, so I can somewhat believe that cardboard and plasterboard can be friends, but they have no chemistry. The entire purpose of their scenes are for Sebastian to explain Heath’s feelings back to Heath, so that he can take action in his relationship.
The relationship that Hope and Heath have is so staggered and each “stage” of the relationship is very blatantly addressed. There is no room for organic development Hope and Heath can’t just be friends because they are constantly hanging out with each other. They are friends because they formally declare their friendship to each other. And the formula goes Heath and Hope speculate about the status of their relationship, Heath goes to Sebastian, Sebastian tells him exactly what to do, Heath tells Hope about the new status of their relationship and then we have two chapters from each pov about this new status. So, we have gripping relationship progression from friends to liking eachother, to being kinda together, to being actually together, to being in love, to dating. And I cannot state enough how jarring it is that at each stage they have to explicitly state where they are at the relationship, because there is no organic development just levelling up.
Also, I’m pretty sure everyone thought they were together at the end of the last book, so why did we have to have them get together again through semantics. The realisation that Heath doesn’t just like Hope, he loves her, doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t really change anything in their relationship because he was willing to do anything for her the first week they met.

Heath’s Parents
They are weird. That’s all I have to say. I supposed you could say to certain extent that you can get away with weird dialogue because with teenagers, because they can be awkward. But these are adults and I’m sorry to say this again, but they sound lobotomised. They speak weird and staggered. They don’t act like adults. They learn that Hope has an abusive parent, and despite having private investigators, legal resources, and infinite wealth, they repeatedly tell her to go back home. Heath’s dad states that people like Hope’s dad wouldn’t kill their daughter. Which is a dumb statement that I’m not even going to warrant with an argument
They decide to drop this elaborate backstory of Heath being kidnapped as child because of them, right after Hope is dragged back home to her abusive parents. And Heath just sits their and listens. The story is so ridiculous that I again I don’t wanna talk about it.
Heath’s dad drops one of the worst lines I’ve ever read in my life “You said you don’t just love her. If that’s true, then she must mean a lot to you.” If he loves her then she already means a lot to him, Mary what is this writing??

Sebastian and Marie
Sebastian and Marie are just ideas of characters and not real characters. They are “best friend” and “blond best friend” respectively and there is really not much else to them, besides the fact that they both have tragic backstories that does not influence the story whatsoever. Sebastian has a history of domestic abuse himself, and for some reason that makes him the least sympethatic person to Hope’s situation. Like he never wants to do anything to help her and this is portrayed as the “rational” response to Heath’s “impaulsive” response. But it just makes him unsympathetic like he is against taking any action. Why not have these two characters bond over their similar traumas, why not have Sebastian give Hope advice. What is the point of both of these characters having similar backstories if it is irrelevant to the plot??
There is really nothing to Mary. Mary’s “banter” with Heath is unbearable and that is all I have to say.

Overall, not a great book. It just seems so rushed and undercooked. I feel like the author needs to read more books outside of whatever this genre is, books with organic sounding dialogue, because that is truly the biggest problem here. If you want to have this character-driven melodrama, then you need to realise that the entire value of this book is contingent upon the voice and personality of the characters. You can have bad boy and good girl sure, but make them somewhat feel like people and not just walking tropes.

Ps. Please stop using AI art, not cool.

I definitely feel like the ending was rushed and there's a little bit more to delve into with this story (I didn't have the full version when I first read) and I think there's a lot to unpack with that ending that is quite heavy for Hope...completely understand Heath is always there for her but I really feel like this could have been a bit longer to cover that last minute drama!

the love between these two characters is just so pure and wholesome!! I love heath and hope so much, and I loved how this book got to explore them happy together and in love. That being said there were a lottttt of grammatical errors and spelling mistakes that made reading the book quite difficult. Also, I do wish that the ending wasn’t so rushed. I felt like parts of the book were a bit dragged on (after 75%), and that those dragged on-parts could have been cut, or quickened to provide a more fulfilling ending.

Holi!

Y para que mentir… that’s my shit ✨

✨💜✨💜✨💜✨💜✨💜✨💜✨💜✨💜✨💜✨

🇬🇧: Hi! I recently had the incredible luck of reading Mended by Mary, the second book in the Bellamere series, where we continue the beautiful and wholesome story of Hope and Heath 🥹

This story already stole my heart in the first book, softened it completely and then shattered it 💔 And with Mended Mary manages to keep all those emotions alive, hook you with the plot and make you deeply empathise with each character’s personal struggles. And of course… scream over every sweet moment between these two, because there are tons of them <3

Hope is a character I found incredibly easy to relate to and Heath is that grumpy boy who makes you laugh but also completely melts you when he shows his soft spot for her 🫶

I don’t know about you, but a story where the girl is a full-on bookworm and he, knowing that, buys her books and wants to meet (and even exceed) our fictional boyfriend standards? That’s my shit ✨

I think the romantic storyline between Heath and Hope is very well handled, especially considering their circumstances and their age. At the end of the day, they’re still teenagers experiencing their first real love and it truly shows.

The subplot surrounding Hope’s family situation gave me mixed feelings. Mary knows exactly how to pull at your heartstrings and make you beg for everything to turn out okay 😭, although I did feel the ending was a little rushed. With a bit more build-up, the emotional impact could have been even stronger.

Still, this was a book I was dying to read after that cliffhanger in book one and I absolutely loved every moment of it. And don’t even get me started on the ending… because despite what I mentioned, it left me in shock and with SO many questions 😮‍💨

Huge thank you to Mary for trusting me and letting me keep reading about Hope and Heath 🤍

Oh my goodness, I cannot see through the tears right now! I’m not even sure where to begin with just how special these characters are to me.

I remember reading Collided and instantly becoming attached to all the characters - the found family in this series was so beautiful and so well written (I would love to read a book about Sebastian and Marie’s love story! They’re so in love it makes me giddy 🤭)

Mended was honestly such a perfect way to end their story. I found myself sobbing one moment, blushing another (because duh, Heath? The book may be YA, but Heath certainly isn’t!) and then giggling over just how beautiful their love story is, and how loudly Heath and Hope love each other. Because they truly do, and it was so touching to see their love story develop. They’re the kind of characters that you know will stick with each other through thick and thin, no matter what! I’m so excited for epilogue and bonus chapters because I am simply not ready to let go of these characters!

It was so moving to see how two characters, who were so lost and tormented by their own struggles and grief, come together and find such a beautiful connection with one another. This story will stick with me, and I feel honoured to have read it.

The things that Heath does for her had me giggling and kicking my feet because what do you mean he builds her a bookshelf and then proceeds to fill it with books for her? No, because I simply could not handle that whatsoever. I was SO GIDDY. This isn’t even all of what he does for her - the list could honestly go on forever!

I love how incredibly protective he was over her, and was so attuned to her feelings and emotions. The same also goes for Hope! She gave him a safe space to be vulnerable, and honestly? He truly needed that. The fact that Hope literally changed the trajectory of Heath’s life (and her own!) the moment she collided with him? I’m sobbing just thinking about it - they’re so precious to me 😭🩷. They came into each other’s lives at the right moment, and quite literally saved each other. I’m never moving on.

they are so nostalgic there was no way i could ever hate hope & heath. this sequel did not disappoint for me. it had me hooked from the beginning and just so hopelessly attached to the characters. i feel like the writing was slightly better in this book too but the pacing... eh we can get into it later in my review.

It’s not like he’s gonna make every single one of them true.
But sharing them with him feels enough.

thoughts~
firstly, i just wanna say why the fuck the nieghbour nadina has said fuck all or hasn't reported anything? unless i've forgotten something major from book 1, like this woman is just complicit 💀 and none of the adults even think to call the police- even when they witness hope's father slap her. (?)

anywho, hope and heath were exactly what i needed right now. they proved why they were my 15 year old self's comfort couple. honestly it was borderline cheesy at times but they genuinely love eachother sm. heath and hope 4 life yes guys. i love their friendship group with marie and seb who are literally my absolute favourites i swear to goooddddddd. i need their book yesterday.

i wanna point out 2 things-
pacing and relationship arcs.
that ending was so rushed don't even 😭😭😭😭 it would have been good if it was actually written better because one of the issues i see with this author's writing is the lack of depth and the overall simplicity of it that doesn't really allow for me to naturally dissolve into the story kinda. the start of this book was super nice and well paced but then the ending fell apart...?
there was barely any progress in heath's relationship with his parents. unless we're getting a 3rd book for them (i don't think we are) then idk why it's ended like this.

it doesn't make me love heath and hope any less though. like my guy says he thinks of hope when he sees books!! ugh they are so cute

3.75 stars

thank you to the author for the ARC :)

4.5 ⭐️I loved this book and characters. It made me cry a few times. I can believe that their story is over it actually makes me sad. The characters development was amazing you notice the growth in the both of them.

The reason why I didn’t give it a full 5 stars is because I feel like there was so much that I wanted out of their story 😩 I feel like it left on a big cliffhanger. I don’t think an epilogue would do my babies justice 🥹

Unfortunately I’ve noticed a lot of typos and grammatical errors in the kindle book 😕 I’m hoping it’s fixed in the physical book

Heath and Hope are two beautifully broken souls that only work perfectly together ❤️

I first read Heath on wattpad, the original, I absolutely loved the story. It was absolutely heartbreaking! and His Rose was just as good, and I beyond sad that mary took them down, but she reassured that she was rewriting the story and publishing on here. Even though collided and mended had similarities to the original, that's why i gave 4*. It was a completely different storyline, still good. However, the original was my favourite story and will always hold a soft spot!

is this the worst writing I’ve ever read?yep
did I read this book in a day?yep(I have finals next week)

I enjoyed this book far more than I should have, which is impressive considering how often it made me cringe

“I tuck her in my arms and put my chin on the top of my head.”
Wdym you put your chin on top of your head 💔 the fuck

The first book was cheesy as hell but better than this one I’d say.

Heath and Hopes story is so adorable.. they finalllyy make it official and I’m in love. It’s a cringy high school love story with real subjects such as abuse and panic attacks. I love that she’s so shy and he’s lowkey loosing it lmao but he puts on a cool and confident front. I can’t wait for more!!!

good story

I read collided a while ago and was looking forward to mended. It was a really good story and I enjoyed it however the ending felt really rushed and there was a lot of spelling errors.

Was it better then the first book?Maybe

I waited for this book for a long time and my itch has been itched.I am still waiting for the ending because in my opinion this needed to be way longer. And I mean very LONG.

I can’t even tell you guys what made me get through this book. The writing was so bad, the story wasn’t even that good. The characters would have been better if the writing was actually good. This whole thing felt like it was trying to be binding 13 and failed 💀

Cute romance. Sometimes a bit repetitive in dialogue and descriptions.

The plot with the parents was excessively drawn out, for a really anticlimactic reveal.

I’m not sure if there’s supposed to be another book in this series but the end was abrupt

Where do i even begin. Heath is the standard for book boyfriends. His soft spot for Hope since the first book even when he didn’t like people except for Marie and Sebastian was so sweet. When we got more of a glimpse into his family dynamics i truly understood his reservations for trusting people. And how fiercely he protects the people he loves. He is such a well written character. Hope really is a great FMC. Her slow progression of trusting people was so well written. She is such a relatable character.

The development of their relationship was so beautiful it wasn’t fast paced which i really loved. It showed that trust and love are not a fast process. The love that they each so each-other weather in small or grand gestures were my favourite parts and how they fiercely protect each-other from people weather parents are people at school was so beautiful. They truly are such a well rounded relationship.

This book and Collided are one of my top duet series. Ive ever read.

I waited long for this book and I expected more ...I feel the story was cut short I don't like the ending. There was so much more potential with the plot.
