She’s the wildfire he never saw coming. He’s the calm that makes her burn hotter.
Brè Easton talks fast, edits faster, and gives advice entirely through sexual innuendos. She’s a sharp-dressed, sass-dripping, all-woman hurricane with a filthy mind and zero time for feelings. Love? Please. She’d rather commit to skincare.
But fate? That cruel, drama-thirsty diva? Throws her straight into the arms—and the fire-hardened chest—of the one cowboy she was never supposed to want again.
Mason West. Quiet. Brooding. Cowboy firefighter with eyes like bottled lightning and a body built to ruin plans. He doesn’t remember the masked woman who kissed him breathless at a PR ball years ago.
But when Brè crashes back into his life—red hair, wicked mouth, and all—she tastes familiar.
Now she’s the maid of honor to his best friend’s bride. He’s the best man. And they’re stuck in close quarters, far too often, with far too much chemistry.
She’s chaos in heels. He’s the protector who doesn’t flinch from heat. And neither of them do anything half-way.
One kiss lit the match. This time, they’re playing with fire.
4.5 ⭐️ ARC REVEIW I laughed. I cried. I was enraged! I was heartbroken! All the emotions reading this. I LOVED this! Bré & Mason stole the show. Their story was hilarious & tender & real. Just when you think it’s going to go the way you want something silly happens…
That bookstore scene 😮💨 The helicopter science 😮💨 Christ. I was sweating!!! reading them.
Thank you so much Ellie for selecting me to read the arc of this. One of my favorite reads this year 🫶🏼
Where do I start with this one! I still love Lilly and her match making antics! The agoraphobic goat and mattress had tears of laughter flowing down my face! I’m also never going to look at the smut aisle in a bookshop the same way ago. Not only did I cry laughing, Ellie made me cry with sadness as well. Parts of this ruined me and I wanted to scream at Mason and Bre! I ate this up so quickly, I need a Mason in my life badly. A guy that looks good in both a Tux and Wranglers is my idea of a good looking man 🤣🥰
First we had Grant and now Mason i mean talk about a double whammy. Mason is fabulous I just loved this story. I mean who wouldn't want a tall strong sexy man to come and rescue you from a runaway cow. The laughs and fun I had reading this was fabulous and I cannot wait to see what is next.
4.5 🌟 Ellie Wilder you've done it again! When you become emotionally attached to characters and truly feel their journeys, you know you've found a great book. A cowboy romance filled with both laughter and tears is simply irresistible!
When you think nothing can top the first book, hello Mason and Bre's book is now my fav. There banter and chemistry was hot! I need to go back and reread this book already!
The Taylor family banter is always amazing, their delivery of chaos and humour i'm here for all day long!
I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Portree Ranch cowboys have my heart. No ifs, buts, or maybes.
Mason West is the man pretty much every woman dreams of, and I honestly love every single page we get to spend inside his head.
Bré? Ohmygod she is chaos personified and a multitude of questionable decisions rolled into a tight package with red hair and green eyes. You will either hate her or love her. I can't pretend I understand half the shit she pulls in this book (climbing into an attic in underwear? RIDING A COW??) but she makes up for it in every other way.
Returning to Portree after Grant and Mia's story is like coming home after a long day of work - just as rewarding and relaxing as you'd think.
Ms Wilder has a way of writing that sells scenes to her audience with precision and care, and the yearning? Ladies and gentlemen, if you thought Grant Taylor can yearn, meet Mason West.
Jesus take the wheel and never let go.
Now - I do have a few points that are observations, rather than critiques.
One: I feel like our MCs should have suspected they'd already met sooner. How many people call Bré Trouble? And the tagline for this book says kissing her feels familiar to Mason, but the reveal and realization don't happen until the last quarter. This is a missed opportunity, I think, as we're told both have been measuring the world against that night, but we don't SEE it.
Two: we needed a scene where Mia calls Bré out on her shiet. Why is everyone ganging up on Mason when she deserves some too? And I don't believe for a second Mia wouldn't have ripped her bestie a new one when she went to her place after the shoe drops. She's not the type. We could have had a flashback or even a phone convo.
Three: at certain points it feels like the story tries to make the fallout Mason's fault. I beg pardon? Bré was the one who should have actually used words. Argued that Daniel is just an ass. Sure, Mason should have listened harder, but the way I see it, the things Daniel said were in fact true. And yes she refutes them, but then she runs - true to character - and we need to see Mason chasing after her. Why? Based on what he knows, why should he? Why could it not have just been her coming to realize it all, turning back after winning everything, and bringing the horseshoe? It just feels like, he was putting in ALL THE WORK all book long, it still wasn't enough, and he was somehow made to be wrong? I don't know, I don't much like that section, because Bré could have given them space and then talked when they calmed down. Something. Mason spoke in his own silences everything she needed, putting in overtime, and still had to cinch it because for some reason, Bré just returning first, saying she's sorry, here's what happened ... would not have worker or something? Not sure. I'd prefer this version.
BUT. I inhaled the book either way. It made me laugh, made my cry, made me kick my feet in the air. I will FOR SURE be reading Ryan's book when it arrives, and all other subsequent ones, because I, too, am wondering if it'd be insane to move to a small ranching community with big characters and bigger hearts now.
This second book felt… deeper. More grounded. More grown-up. The tension in this one? Turned all the way up. Painfully so. It leans into heavier themes. The kind that actually explain why someone would push love away, even when they desperately want it. And it never feels forced. And then, just when things get heavy, this book throws you into chaos again.
Also..can we talk about the KLAMB? I need a KLAMB in my life. Where do I get one? The flirting through texts had me blushing.
And that whole “bringing the cow back into the fence” situation? Pure chaos. Peak comedy. No notes.
But then, out of nowhere… this book hits you hard.
Mason’s trauma? I did not see that coming. And I’m sorry… but how, how, do you respond to a man like that? A literal walking masterpiece confessing his love… and she turns the tub louder?
And then that line: “What if I want her and she doesn’t want me back? What if she does and I don’t know how to be wanted?”
Yeah. No recovery from that. No analysis needed. Just… understood. On too many levels. The kind that quietly wrecks you before you even realize what’s happening.
And let’s be honest… that whole “2 a.m. rule”? Suspicious. Extremely suspicious. At this point, I’m convinced it was a strategic decision, and Mason is absolutely milking it for everything it’s worth. Clever. Very clever. I respect the dedication.
What I loved most, though, is how their connection is built through words. That’s their foundation. Their intimacy. And it’s fascinating how the same experiences can shape people so differently. Some choosing their words carefully, only when they matter… others saying everything, even the things that don’t. And somehow, they meet right in the middle of that.
The horseshoe moment? Genuinely brilliant. I was completely hooked trying to figure out what it meant, and the resolution? Beautiful. Quietly satisfying in a way that lingers.
That bookstore scene? The multitasking? I had to physically restrain myself from laughing out loud while reading in public. The struggle was real.
And can we please talk about Lily? Because she is pure, unfiltered chaos. The kind that sets things (and apparently beds) on fire and just… keeps going. She deserves her own story. Not just any story!! An epic, slightly unhinged, emotionally devastating one. I need it.
Now… the spice. I don’t know who approved it. I don’t know what possessed the author. But wow. This is not shy, playful spice. This is grown, confident, dangerously good spice. The kind that sneaks up on you and suddenly you’re like… oh. Oh we’re doing this now.
What I appreciated most is how well-balanced everything is. The humor never undermines the heavy moments, it just softens them enough to breathe. Every emotional beat gets the space it deserves. Every character has their own voice, their own humor, their own weight. Nothing feels out of place.
I finished this one with a big smile and maybe a few blushes (reminder, never read in public if you don’t know what you are getting into )😝
Ellie Wilder really turned up the heat in book two, giving us a spicier, more emotionally layered follow up that still keeps the humor and heart that made the first book so addictive. (You don’t need to read book one to love this one.)
Brè Easton is Mia’s (book one) best friend and absolute force of nature. She’s this sharp, fast talking, red headed city girl who makes sexual innuendos absolutely hilarious, edits like a whirlwind, and treats actual feelings like they’re optional accessories. She’s confident, chaotic in the best way, and completely committed to never slowing down for love. I loved how unapologetic she is. Watching her carefully constructed walls get systematically dismantled was pure entertainment.
Then there’s Mason West, the quiet, brooding cowboy firefighter who looks like he was built to carry people out of burning buildings and ruin romantic plans in the best possible way. (You know the type of book boyfriend 😜)
The second chance element, rooted in that one unforgettable masked kiss from years ago, adds a delicious layer of tension. I couldn’t wait for Mason to remember Brè 😂
He doesn’t remember her at first, but the chemistry hits like muscle memory. As best man and maid of honor, they’re thrown together constantly, and the forced proximity (including some excellent one bed moments) keeps the sparks flying nonstop.
What really works is how well their personalities clash and complement each other. Brè’s hurricane energy meets Mason’s calm, protective steadiness, and the result is fantastic banter, scorching tension.
He falls first and hard in that quiet, intense way that makes you swoon, while she fights it every step until she can’t anymore.
The characters from Portree returns with warmth and laughs, making the whole world feel lived in and welcoming, (in fact I’m packing a bag and moving out there 😉)
It’s still a fast and fun read with plenty of humor to balance the heat. There’s emotional moments underneath the sass, especially around trust, vulnerability, and letting someone in after past hurts.
If you loved the first book, this one feels like coming home, the same addictive vibe but with higher stakes and even more spice. 🥵
This is a winner for anyone who enjoys second chance romance, firefighter cowboys, sassy heroines who give as good as they get, and stories that are equal parts funny and fiery.
I’m completely hooked on this series now and can’t wait to see what Ellie Wilder does next.
Highly recommended.
Just keep a fan nearby, you’re going to need it. 🤠🔥
Firstly, why I am not seeing Ellie Wilder all over my FYP?!? Another hugely underrated UK author that readers need to be shouting about!
I'm not sure I've ever swooned so much through a book. Reckless Hearts, Cowboy was an absolute infinity star read ✨ This book literally had it all, slow burn 🔥, a cowboy/firefighter mmc, a sassy firecracker of an fmc who is an absolute walking ball of chaos, hilarity, vulnerability and spice that will have you biting your lip trying to hold it together 🫦🔥
Mason, forever stoic, calm and unhurried, who's words come at a premium. Everything is intentional and controlled because being to loud never bought him anything but hurt. But not even he can resist the pull of the beautiful redhead he calls "Trouble".
Brè comes barreling into town to escape a life she had devoted herself to for years. But life couldn't look more different than it does in Portree. Her bestie is getting married and she's drawn into a way of life she could never have imagined, let alone considering staying for.
The way Mason listens to everything Brè has to say, often with a soldering smirk in his face. He sees through her bravado and somehow revealing himself to her seems to come easier than it ever has before. And Brè just fights so hard not to fall for the guy who just seems to know everything she needs and gives it willingly, without expectation or criticism. He's the opposite of everything she's ever experienced and together they're everything they never knew they needed. The spice! Oh, the spice! 🔥🔥🔥
I was happy to be back in Portree and really enjoyed the storyline and loved both main characters in this second book. The connection between them was adorable how the connect through words was lovely and showed a softer more insecure side of Mason. The book was funny with the banter not only between the leads but also the extended family. It wasn’t super spicy but the few scenes where it was it was very steamy. I would have rated higher but I found myself getting annoyed by the overuse of certain phrases and actions in the book, brushes and performance comes to mind. It felt repetitive at times and very predictable. Also I noticed inaccuracies in timings “waiting all day” for something when you’ve just woken up and it’s 9am. The parents celebrating 55 years of marriage with children in 20’s and early 30’s. I would have liked the voice recording on the phone to be re visited. The book seemed longer than it needed to be and dragged in places. But overall a good book and will definitely continue with the series.
Ellie Wilder smashing another cowboy romance out the park, or should I say, ranch!!
Mason West has been catapulated into the book boyfriend Hall of Fame and he absolutely deserves his place there.
My only reason for this not being a 5* read, is simply because I found myself quite frustrated with the writing on times; it seemed to constantly contain philosophical observations and metaphorical imagery and I was getting a bit annoyed with the consistent way this was littered into the text.
However, the story line, the characters, the side characters and being back in Portree made up for this, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time reading this.
Brè and Mason were perfect for each other and I absolutely loved the banter between them, finding myself giggling and laughing to myself and desperate for more time in their company!
This is a cowboy romance that gives you all the feels, laughter, heart stopping love, spice, woah, the spice, and tears. SOooo good.
Mason and Brè’s story has been on my TBR since I listened to the audio of Wild Love, Cowboy. I knew I’d love this book. The first book is one I have not forgotten. When I can immediately relisten/read a book as soon as I finish because i don’t want to leave the created world you get a 5⭐️ rating from me. Brè is a city girl that fits in Portree as well as she ruled the publishing world of NYC. Quiet Mason isn’t so quiet with his city girl Brè. I love how they center each other, and their chemistry is off the charts.
The package…lol. The bookstore…fire. The helicopter…HELLO! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Lilly… Love. Her! Ryan…I’m ready for his story NOW!
I received an Advance Reader Copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I knew Mason was gonna be my favourite from my first read of Wild Love, Cowboy, and boy did he not disappoint.
Brè is a badass fiery and sassy woman, Mason is a brooding action-more-than-words firefighter cowboy. Their banter is brilliant, the yearning between them is real, painful but mature.
A man that listen and hear and shows that rather than just saying he has.
Also…….. bookstore hotness?! Yes please, every reader’s dream!!! Definetely mine!!
It was such a captivating read that I finished it in literally 2 days while working over 10 hours on the first day, couldn’t put it down! And defo cannot wait for the next book!!!

This story is phenomenal!!! Absolutely loved it. It had all the things, love, strength, heartbreak, hilarity, fun, softness, yearning, angst and explosive spice (when it hits). This love story starts ON SITE (for both MCs), but isn't acted on right away. I do wish we had more spice from these two bc it was amazing. I love every character in these books. All of the different personalities blend together perfectly and you have a group of people that love and protect fiercely, and loyal on top of that. Our FMC is STRONG, impulsive, and loves deeply Our MMC is also STRONG, quiet, observant, calculated and also loves deeply. The side characters?? You get a mixed bag of everything and it's a GREAT time!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. First off a big thank you to the author for.reading out to me and inviting me to read her book, i'm so glad I said yes because I found myself getting lost in the story as will as smiling and laughing at times as will . Other thing I loved was the interaction between the characters and how welcoming the tow made our main female character feel, and lets not forget the got cowboy brothers or their best friend our main male character. As for spicy , wow it had the right Amount, and you could almost feel it. Will definitely be reading book 1 .
This is #2, so you should read #1 Wild Love; it may give you a glimpse at Mason's past, but it gives you a sense of the found family Mason has with the Taylor family. I have no idea what happened to Jake and who he is, since this is my first book I read by Ellie Wilder.
I enjoyed reading and seeing how Mason and Bre connect throughout the book. I loved the community/family vibe as well.
It had a variety of emotions going through: funny, sad, mad at times. From start to finish, the writer does a great job at making the story interesting and makes you wonder where the next turn is. She sees what she's doing from intro to finish ;) It left me a little puzzled a couple of times, but if you're patient enough you'll see it unravel. You can feel the chemistry and sexual tension between Mason and Bre. But they did get it on at a great place that all booklovers love ;)
Thanks Ellie Wilder for the opportunity to be an Arc reader.
5⭐️An exceptional combination of sharp humor, emotional intensity, and scorching romance. Mason and Brè are unforgettable together—their chemistry is sizzling, immediate, but their vulnerability and personal journeys give the story its real power. The witty dialogue, found-family warmth, suspenseful moments, and beautifully developed romance make this impossible to put down. A moving and addictive five-star read.
Ugh! Beautiful! Emotional and Funny and Wholesome. Mason is quite literally a perfect man..gawwwd...that bookstore scene good lord! Bré is a lucky woman. Daniel.. i hope he runs out of toilet paper in worst moments for the rest of his life.... Taylors are my favourite kind of people what I wouldn't give to have family like that!!! Also Ellie.... I too appreciate a good .....🛤
No book boyfriend will every come close to Mason West. Dear lord, the way this man handles Bre who is an absolute firecracker and the scream I scrumt in the bookstore scene!!!!!🔥🤠❤️
Please Ellie, write as quick as you can. We NEED more of Mason, more of Ryan and just more of ALL the Taylor Brothers!! I'm obsessed!💕😍🤠❤️🔥
Mason West has firmly planted himself in the top three of my favorite MMCs ever, and dare I say that Bré honestly is my favorite FMC ever.
Their story is beautiful and really not your typical cowboy romance book. There's subtle little twists that make it so much more, and I adored the connection the two have.
Yaaaasssss! Mason Mason Mason. Swoon. Cowboy & firefighter. Yes please. Loved the humor and banter. Bre was chaos personified and Mason was her perfect match. Spice was....... chef's kiss. Love this series so much and cannot wait for what's next!
Another amazing book in this series by Ellie, Mason and Bre are perfect for each other. Who doesn’t love a smouldering fire fighter cowboy and a feisty red head.
This story has everything a reader needs. It’s has love , comedy , brains , quirkiness. ARC READER review coming soon. Highly recommend.
Mason is hot stoic quiet and all man. brè is beautiful hot tempered , brainy , says what’s on her mind . Opposites attract in this story and the chemistry is fire.
Bré was shafted over a promotion by her scheming Ex and is invited to her besties wedding in Portree. There she encounters Mason. She has just ended a relationship and is initially not interested. Mason has issues and it stems from his childhood so trust and love isn’t in his radar. However when he sees Bré on a runaway cow his attitude changes.
Over time they become close but Bré needs to make a choice when an offer arrives.
This book is has everything, a fantastic story , a sizzling couple , a great bunch of side characters and love.

Mason and Bre are two opposite ends that meet in the middle. A quiet cowboy and a vibrant city girl who need each other. She is a walking disaster and he is always there to rescue her. The family around them is just as hilarious and loves to tease them. Lots of laughs and a few tears will be had.
Back in PORTREE with my favourite cowboys and the chaotic, loveable Taylor fam—and honestly, I couldn’t be happier to be home.
Mason & Bre completely stole the show. Their chemistry is instant, their banter is hilarious, and the heat? Off the charts. These two had me laughing through half the book and fanning myself through the rest. There’s just something irresistible about a cowboy/firefighter colliding with a strong, stubborn woman who gives as good as she gets. Their journey to a HEA is messy, funny, and ridiculously hot.
And of course, the Taylor family delivers their signature brand of chaos, heart, and humour. Every time they’re on the page, it feels like being wrapped in the warmest, wildest hug.
Now I’m fully ready—desperate, actually—for Ryan’s story.
Thank you, Ellie Wilder, for the ARC. You never fail to put a smile on my face and this one was pure joy to read 💖
