Guardian Geneva Archer might be more infamous than famous among the supernaturals in Ft. Worth, but when a sexy werewolf enters her territory, she finds herself face to face with her worst fear: save humanity or save her soulmate?

After 800 years of guarding humanity from the things that make your hair stand on end in the dead of night, Geneva Archer is given a two-week vacation to work out her feelings of loneliness and refresh her spirit. With time on her hands, she goes to her favorite club: a place for supernaturals to gather without worrying about human interference. While there, she meets Alex, a compelling werewolf with a demonic side. But instead of blasting him back to hell like her instincts would normally tell her to do, Geneva falls head over heels.

For Alex, Geneva is an answer to prayer. She can free him from the most notorious demon walking the earth—his father. Yuruch isn’t interested in his offspring’s life, just his body—the perfect body for a demon to inhabit. With Alex’s body and powers, Yuruch will become nearly invincible, able to wreak his hellish destruction on humanity from an impenetrable fortress.

In order to get his hands on Alex, Yuruch kidnaps one of Geneva’s sisters, luring both her and Alex into an ambush. After the botched rescue mission, Alex is possessed by Yuruch, leaving Geneva with a dead sister, a destroyed city and no way to get her soulmate back without giving Yuruch everything he desires.

Can Geneva figure out a way to defeat Yuruch and save Alex without sacrificing the very best of humanity in the process? Does she even want to?

Jen Winters fell in love with paranormal romance after her daughter was born and she needed a way to escape reality for a few minutes a day. She loved it so much she decided to take her own pen to it. The world of the Guardians was developed through deeply irreligious conversations with her father who likes to misinterpret scripture as often as humanly possible and a good dose of did-I-just-read-that-! when looking into ancient near eastern mythology and scripture.

What an utterly unique world I just dived into. Right off the bat I was fascinated. I kept saying to myself, Guardians really could exist because as soon as they leave your presence, you forget about them. What a mind-trip.

I did find a few spots in the center of the story a bit slow, but the last third of the book held me captivated, and I really can not wait to read what happens in this world next.

Good job, Jen Winters, well done.

I wavered between 3 and 4 stars as this book wasn't something I usually read. I'm more into the angst riddled, borderline psychotic paranormal. Kissing Demons was a surprisingly sweet tale considering it dealt with demons, werewolves and Guardians who fight evil.
Geneva, thankfully, wasn't a TSTL heroine. She was smart, tough and willing to kick ass when needed. Yet she didn't fall into the trap of smart ass bitch to get her point across. A strong woman and one I quite liked.
Alex, sadly, we didn't get to see much of him as it is first person POV. And for part of the book, they were apart. I would've liked some more interaction between them. I'm a sucker for werewolves. ;)
I've been lucky enough to read a few snippets from the second book in this series and all I can say is "Yes, please, give me!"

For the most part I quite enjoyed this story.

The author obviously has a strong religious/historical background and that comes through in the richness of the detail. The background of the Guardians
was fascinating.

Geneva was compelling, particularly in the beginning pages, and Alex was smoking hot! The insta-love was a little hard to swallow though. I don't generally have a huge problem with that, when the author can make me buy into it. I didn't feel that happened here. It also felt like the pacing was a bit off; super slow at times, then other times it was great and you'd be sucked in, then it would falter again. Several of the minor characters also felt like props, just introduced to serve a plot line, then *poof*, they were gone.

I loved the lore though, and feel like the mythology the author has created has a great deal of potential. Oh, and Yuruch is one a helluva a character. I would def like to see more of him!

All in all a fine debut novel!

BTW this is not the book cover for Jen's book

When I first downloaded Jen Winters’ Kissing Demons I suspected it was yet another of the many Laurel Hamilton, Charlene Harris clones circulating the market—heroine meets vampire/werewolf, loves vampire/werewolf, together they kick ass. (Okay, Sookie Stackhouse was more of a wimp but you know where I’m going.) The formula grows wearying after a while.

In fact, had I not been asked by a third party to review the book, I wouldn’t have bothered because I’ve long ago grown tired of the formula. Winters surprised me, however. She quickly sheds the “girl loves werewolf” meme or at least downplays the werewolf aspect of the hero to introduce a demonic incubus aspect and then buries him in the background to focus on the heroine Geneva.

The book gets better from there.

Kissing Demons is paranormal romance, which translates, “mostly for female readers,” although men should enjoy most of the book and get through the rest with little pain. Winters throws in some moderately erotic passages, by which I mean readers should be able to read without blushing with the exception of the extreme home schooled and possibly the most naive incoming freshmen to conservative Christian private academies. (I read James Clavell’s “Taipan” in eighth grade and to my recollection—with the exception of one Winter’s reference to male genitalia—it contained passages more torrid than these.)

The novel’s real focus, lost in the promotional baggage, is the heroine Geneva’s aspect as guardian angel to humanity. Geneva has been tasked with saving those souls who play a critical role in the divine plan and part of that divine plan turns on her finding her soul mate, who happens to be half-demon. The fact that he is also half-werewolf (or a third, or a quarter, the ratios get messy) turns out to be superfluous even though it’s the hook to draw the readers in.

The plot twist is that the half-demon’s father incubated his son as his avatar for incarnation in the first step of his plot for world domination.

Winters has a good sense of pacing and she does a good job of developing characters, although she has a tendency to overpopulate her novel. After a while I felt like my father in law at a four star restaurant in San Antonio being served our sixth course, when he said, “Oh, no, another damn dish?” It became especially annoying when she would drop a character into the plot only to kill them off in the next chapter.

As I think I’ve said before, however, the most annoying thing was the werewolf romance, which dominates the early chapters, as do the supernatural characters that populate the work. Halfway through they largely disappear. I suspect Winters wanted to write novel for readers of paranormal romance, or Alex may have been intended as a minor character who took more control of the novel than intended. If it was the first, it was unnecessary because Geneva’s character more fresh and original than any werewolf romance. If it was the later, a little editing would have made the a better read, at least for men with little taste for PNR.

I will have to start off Paranormal Romance is a genre that I have avoided because I can't seem to wrap my mind around demons, werewolves, witches, and things that go bump in the night. Jen Winters introduced something a little different which I found interesting Guardians.
Guardian is person God has appointed to keep people safe from evil or other things that go bump in the night. She lead female character protects people who will achieve or their family might achieve greater things. Demons will ride on their shoulders causing the person to feel all is lost losing their direction. Jen Winters starts the book off with a bang showing you Geneva Archer abilities to protect humanity. Jen Winter also does an amazing job of helping the reader to understand how lonely being immortal can be knowing the second someone turns their back they will never remember you.

Kissing Demon bring so many different biblical characters making it really fun but sometimes a distraction from the story and I would find myself hoping for the final battle. Kissing Demon has all the makes of an episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer with evil characters trying to rule the world and the good trying hard to stop that from happening while making the greatest sacrifice.
Everything you can think of when it comes to paranormal is in this book from time traveling, dreamscapes, demons, werewolves, witches men and women thousands of years old and so much more. I felt the story slowed down with the introduction of so many different charaters that sometimes I would get a little lost as to who they were. I understand in this world there would be so many characters but sometimes I felt a little lost.

I finished the book my thoughts kept coming to the same thing with a good editor Kissing Demon has great potential of being a great paranormal romance. The sex in the book caused the story to slow down almost coming to a stop. With that being said I have only read a handful of paranormal romance books so this could be normal for this genre. I feel an editor could help the book create a more constant flow instead of the staccato that would happen with the fight scenes but slow way down to a snails pace during the sex scenes.

I am curious to read what plans Jen Winters has for her next book with it stay on the story of Geneva and Alex creating more background or will the Author focus on several of the different characters that she introduced though out this book.

This book as great potential with the help of an editor. I didn't find spelling and grammar errors that I normally find in lot of Indie Authors.

I swore I’d never lay a hand on Twilight. The idea of hooking up with a non-human, supernatural creature just has zero appeal for me. But when Kissing Demons was featured as book of the month in the club I’m part of, I’d thought’ what the hell.’ And it wasn’t bad at all. In fact, Ms. Winters makes her characters so humanized you forget that one’s half-werewolf and the other’s a guardian (a woman granted the privilege of protecting humans in the afterlife).

Kissing Demons is Book 1 of a three-part series. Narrated by the kick-ass Guardian Geneva Archer, who, upon her natural death, was appointed by God the task of cleansing people’s auras when they are affected by evil and protecting the world from demonic attacks. One evening, she decided to have a drink at a hideaway bar for supernaturals, where she meets her soulmate, Alex Wolfe. The two begin a hot, steamy relationship. Unfortunately, Alex is the son of the demon Yuruch, who has been a thorn in Geneva’s side since she first became a Guardian. When Yuruch calls together Alex and his other children to assist him in a mission of mass destruction, Alex is powerless to disobey his father’s command. Geneva, of course, is pissed to no end! She, along with her trustworthy team, must come up with a plan to outsmart Yuruch so she can have Alex back and hopefully save as many lives as possible.

This novel contains some intense sexual scenes. It is also very original. I don’t think I ever read anything like it. I think my favorite part is the strong female heroin. There are dashes of humor sprinkled in (such as the scene when Jared appears naked in the living room) which offsets its intensity. It is interesting to see supernatural beings partake in modern-day indulgences (such as Geneva’s addiction to sci-fi television). Geneva and Yuruch are extremely well-developed; I would have liked to know more about Alex and some of the others.

If you are not offended by highly erotics sexual scenes and profanity, then I would certainly recommend this highly entertaining read.

You know how when you ask someone who can really cook fabulous how they made something they most times end up saying well you put alittle of this and some of that and for them it turns out fantastic? I would venture to say with anyone other than this author things would not of turned out quite so well-she has a little of this and some of that from the paranormal or fantasy realm and has come up with a different spin in the ever going war between good and evil. You meet Geneva who is a guardian and has been given 2 week vacation and goes to a supernatural club. While there she comes across something alittle different because usually the owner does not let the demonic in to play. Alex is a wolf with a demonic side and when these two cross paths a rarity has happened especially for Geneva she and him happen to be soul mates. It will also come with a big responsibility because he was there avoiding his father's call one that if answered would come with much woe and destruction. As this author takes you along on how Guardians fit in the balance and stopping a horrific demon many must come together for this, you are introduced to quite a few interesting characters that complement the telling of this story. It is like that mouth watering recipe or better yet that puzzle with pieces that as you fit it together you say oh yeah. The hardest thing also on her horizon will be save the humans or save her soul mate ah can't a girl in love have both? The answer to that will be answered quite nicely with the twist that is so loved in this genre that as mentioned before with a different spin on things. Received a copy for a honest review.

I had the pleasure and honor of editing this book, and seeing the story unfold from the beginning. Jen's characters are intriguing and the story starts off with a demon-vanquishing bang and escalates from there! Her unique, straight-forward way of telling the main character Geneva's tale is surprisingly refreshing and if you like your contemporary fantasy filled with demons and werewolves and more, be sure to have a look at Kissing Demons. I know I, for one, am looking forward to the next installment.

This book started out a little slow for me. I was able to really get into it after a few chapters though. It was a good story line and kept my attention until the end.

Geneva's story was very interesting and it put a new spin on the Guardian perspective. I found myself trying to figure out what would happen next.

I look forward to the next book in the series!

I'm always on the lookout for stories which feature religious subject matter, and Kissing Demons delivers. It's also a paranormal romance that pretty much exists in the world we mere mortals know, with the supernatural (or in this case the Divine) hiding in plain sight. Another one of my favorite themes. ☺

Jen Winters penned an impressive, satisfyingly complicated, rather epic tale filled with a ton of characters possessing well-thought-out backstories and distinct personalities. The first half didn't move as quickly as I may have hoped, but I understand a great deal of set up was required for this particular book. I struggled a bit with the first person point of view, but I realize that's just a personal preference thing. (And for a lovely taste of Alex's POV, check out the novelette Kissing the Rain.) Luckily the heroine, Geneva, was pretty friggin awesome. Being in her head was a pleasure to read. Any chance I can apply for a position as a Guardian? Those ladies kick some serious evil ass.

Actually, I'm pretty sure I don't qualify. Maybe I can settle for Guardian-in-Training?

This PNR is intricately written, sensual, and touches on some deep philosophical topics not usually found in romance. And with the next installment in the Guardian Novels series called Falling Angels, I'll definitely be checking it out. (Love me a sexy fallen angel...)

Kissing Demons, by Jen Winters, is one of the sweetest, happiest stories I've read in a long time. You wouldn't think it would be given that the premise is a heroine, Geneva, who is a Guardian charged by God to protect humanity from the supernatural world, and a hero, Alex, who is a half demon (incubus) and half werewolf, but Ms. Winters spins these characters into a truly enchanting tale. The story is full of tender moments, characters working together for the common good, and "people" who truly care about others.

The God in Kissing Demons is a god of love and peace who only wants his children to be happy. It was the most positive take on religion I think I've ever had the privilege to read about. The romance in this story is both hot, and very sweet. Even the villain is deep enough that the reader is led to believe there might be more to his story than is discussed in this book. I can't wait to see what Ms. Winters comes up with next! :-)

I am totally in love.

This book has everything. Geneva is breathtakingly sweet character with a tough side and some serious magical back up. Alex her love is just got. And what every woman dreams of. But they have a tough rode to following to there ending. And wow what an ending 10 thumbs up. I won't spoil it. There's demons. Angels. Guardians. If you can dream it up its probably in there. Paranormal romance has never been better. And what about a witch line that has over 300 daughter's? And of course we have some family drama thrown in with some curves that have housing back. What? Yes. My friends steamy sex too. This book covers all the wants I have and gave me more. Great job. Great author! Pick this one up!

This was unlike any PNR I've ever read! Exceptional story with original concepts. I liked that Geneva wasn't the perfect heroine. She often doubted herself and had to turn to others for help. Her relationship with Alex was steamy but perhaps a bit too perfect. I would have liked a bit more drama between them. Even immortals have to argue sometimes.
The ending was satisfying, the epilogue leaving an opening for sequels. Wonderful read!

First let me start by saying, I am doing this review in conjunction with #NerdGirl. I am not paid for my reviews, I just do them because I like to.

Where do I start with Kissing Demons? There are so many facets to this novel that I can't even imagine where I am to begin reviewing it. For the most part I enjoyed reading the book. Guardian Geneva has been roaming around girl for centuries helping humans by protecting them from demons. In this beginning of this story we find out heroine working hard in Texas to keep demons from taking over unsuspecting souls and keeping them from doing evil deeds. Then, on her night off she meets a strapping halfing (half werewolf, half demon) Alex and things change drastically for her. Without ruining the book, I thought it was a wonderful plot premise, but in action there were some holes, and some things that needed to be tweaked and then this book would be worth 4 or 5 stars. Here is what I enjoyed about the book

1. The heroine being independent and making her own choices, though influenced by her love, she did what was right for the world before doing what is right for her.

2. Destiny. I loved how this book portrayed destiny. Not only destiny for humans, but for supernatural beings as well. I thought it was so fascinating that each living being had a song about their destiny and where they were going to end up. It was something I wasn't expecting, and totally unique.

Those two things helped me through this book and really make it a special read for me. There were some things that I thought could be changed, but seeing as it is a part of a series I know why there were certain things left off. IF you are looking for a quick read with love and demons this is definitely a book I would recommend. Geneva and Alex had great chemistry, and the supporting cast of Samuel, Emma, and the other guardians really made the book come off the pages. Jen Winters does a wonderful job of going between the present and past sequences and gives the reader a great sense of knowing the character so that we can feel empathy for her.

The reason I gave this book a 3 out of 5 stars in the fact that there were some things lacking that I thought took away from the book. Some things that weren't important I thought should be important, while every day conversations between the characters got redundant and somewhat boring for me. I also didn't necessarily like that Geneva so quickly fell in love with Alex, and though I know they are soulmates, it felt like there was no conflict for the first alf of the book because it was all about how much they loved each other. With a few more plot developments and some more detail in certain areas this book would be at least a 4 if not a 5 out of 5 for me.

This book was written from Geneva's point of view. It picks up with her life 'before' meeting Alex in the novella before this, and then continues on. It is fascinating to watch how her life changes as she discovers the relationship that she and Alex have and what it means. Even more interesting is watching her take on Alex's father, trying to find a way to rid the world of him. So many things change, and having been a resident of the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I saw some correlation between events that happened in Fort Worth with a tornado and the bomb that was set off in the book in regards to the destruction. This was a great story about humanity, and truly an uplifting story in regards to the battle that is age old in the fight between Good and Evil. God's Devine Plan in all this shows here and there. It is fascinating to watch the interplay, and all the additional support that comes in for Geneva. I truly cannot wait to start reading Falling Angels, the next book in this series. It has been incredible.

W O W.....This is my first time reading Jen Winters and I am very impressed with the level of imagination and the world she creates for her characters. I am a huge paranormal fanatic and this has an interesting take on the supernatural, not just fae, vampires, and such but also demons and we are introduced to the Guardians.

One of my favorite parts of this book was the setting, while I have read so much set all over. Jen has hers set in the Dallas Metroplex, my stomping grounds. It created a more believable environment for me, one I could relate to. As my introduction to Geneva opens, we learn that she is a strong dominant women, she is self made and works towards the unfolding of the Divine Plan.

So much of Geneva is mysterious and other worldly, it is intriguing and adds to the story. As we watch her make decisions for the greater good, find love, lose love, fight for love, kill demons, and die. I flew through this book, laughing, cringing, and yelling at the characters. I loved the good guys, hated the bad guys and was surprised continuously by the turn of events.

KISSING DEMONS is the exciting, imaginative start to what will surely be an outstanding paranormal series. Author Jen Winters has given us characters – especially Geneva, the irresistible, kick-ass heroine who repeatedly risks her life protecting humankind from evil – who not only grab attention but make the reader really care what happens to them. The world in which these characters operate is very well-thought-out and consistent within its own rules. I particularly liked the thread throughout the novel of how Geneva must utilize – and cope with – the fact that humans forget her the moment she's out of their sight.

I started this book in the evening, thinking I'd read a little bit before bed. Hah! At two in the morning I was still reading! Not only is the story full of action, hot romance, and suspense, but it's also a nail-biting page-turner. If you enjoyed the Sookie Stackhouse books (on TV as "TrueBlood") or the "Discovery of Witches" series, you're going to love Ms. Winters' tales! Highly recommended!

This could very well be the next Epic Series in Paranormal Romance!!!

This story not only had all the paranormal aspects for a great story, but the characters are well developed and the plot is plausible in the world created by Jen Winters. I love nothing more that a Fiction read that incorporates History accurately. This story does just that. While reading it dawned on my the Leading Heroine in this story is actually my 23 Great Grandmother, and of course that made me giddy as a school girl and the the genealogist in my set out to see how skewed the actual history is in this book. To my surprise the author perfectly weaved actual historical fact into a story that is purely fiction. You will want to read this book, trust me. For a first published work from an author it is very clear and precise and errors are at a minimum, that is a small feat in this world. I say well done Jen Winters, well done. I can't wait to start the second book in this series...

The story and background that was created in this novel is unlike any I have previously read. The concept of the Guardians, their purpose, and their beginning was fascinating. I enjoyed reading the tidbits dating back to Geneva’s human life. The insight into her past made her more relatable and likeable to me. She has a very strong sense of family. This is not only those with a genetic tie, but her Sister Guardians and her staff. Geneva was a picture of love in my opinion. Alex is alpha male with baggage of his own. The relationship between the two of them is balanced pretty equally. It is insta-love and not a relationship built on time and getting to know one another. I will be reading the remainder of this series to see what new webs this author will weave for us. The plot is fascinating and one I can’t wait to see what the Divine Plan is. I highly recommend this paranormal romance of love, lust, and intrigue.

This was an interesting start to a series involving angels, demons and such beasties as werewolves and vampires. The main female character acts out a pivotal role within the novel, a woman of extreme power who is the lynch pin for the main action. There is a sense that the writer is hugely invested in the plight of humanity and despite the often amoral goings on, there is a thread of conscience which runs throughout. The book was relatively easy to get into with some decent twists and turns from the off and the main character is hard to dislike. I struggled a little with the portrayal of the Aspects because some of their behaviour was a stretch too far for characters essentially lifted straight out of the bible. I felt the portrayal of the setting was fascinating and descriptive enough to keep me reading. Well written and great follow through. You’d have to read the next one in the series once you started.

This was the first time I've read a book by this author, so I had no idea what to expect...The beginning of the book started off slow introducing you the world of guardians. The first few chapters showed Geneva at her best helping people by setting them back on the right track of life. Just when you think that's what the book is going to be like throughout, it opens up to the world of Soulmates and demons...Geneva meets her Soulmate Alex, who is a halfling - half demon, half wolf...his father is the mighty Yurich calling Alex to take over the world. Geneva and her teamof guardians have a race against time to save the world and her soulmate from the evil demon...

It took me several days to get through the book, because I didn't want to get confused. I enjoyed the second half of the book much more.

Guardian Geneva Archer puts in 110% to her guardian duties. She lives and breaths being a guardian. But when she meets Alex her world turns up side down. Alex is the one who can complete her after being alone for 800 years. Alex is devilishly handsome werewolf with a demonic side. Geneva has to balance her personal life with Alex while dealing with the worst Demon the Guardians have ever seen. The Demon Yuruch is set on destroying humanity and to do it he needs his son Alex. Geneva must find a way to save Alex while saving humanity. This book is a roller coaster of emotions and it leaves you hungry for more. Lots of danger and suspense. It is a must read. I would recommend it to all my paranormal friends.

Kissing Demons is mostly a fast paced fantasy, but does slow down in places where necessary explanations are given. As a new reader of fantasy, I found these passages helpful but others might think differently.

It has all the usual elements of guardians, demons, werewolves, fae, and witchcraft. The heroine Geneva, an immortal guardian, along with her sister guardians have to fight and destroy a powerful demon who’s sired many Halfling children. Geneva discovers one of them is her soul mate, but as a good guardian, she is willing to sacrifice him, if need be, for the world good.

I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline, but for me personally, her servant of God character was spoiled a little by the graphic sex scenes. They seemed superfluous to the plot.

I am glad to say that the book did not turn out like I was imagining. It turned out even better! Kissing Demons kept me guessing what would happen. The book is about Geneva and Alex, who find out they are soul mates. Geneva is a Guardian and Alex is a wolf and demon mix. I found myself cheering them on throughout the book. Through the bad and the good parts of their story, Kissing Demons was a great read. To me the book ended way too soon. Although the book is not very long (to me anyway) it was chopped full of action and details. I would recommend the book! I can’t wait to read some more of Jen Winters books.

Another fast-paced, page-turning, paranormal romance from Jen Winters.
An enchanting tale written from the POV of the heroine, a smart, tough and tender Guardian.
I love the writing style, the depth and strength of the many characters, the fascinating and unique world, and the hot yet sweet romance.

I am looking forward to reading the next installment... Falling Angels

While this is not generally my genre, I did enjoy reading this book. There were certain premises I had not thought of before which made the story engaging. While I admit that I got a little confused at time by the number of characters that got introduced, once I got the hang of it, I kept reading right till the end. I think people who like demons/angels/werewolves/vampires, etc. will certainly like this title and will go on to read all the books in the series. Certainly an author to watch!
