Peachtree Pass #2

Lead Me Knot

Rate this book
10 hours, 19 minutes

Sometimes the temptation is too much to deny.

Falling into bed with my best friend’s brother was an accident.
What happened right after… not so much.

With abs more defined than the Texas Hill Country and a killer smirk I can’t ignore, the “boy next door” is all grown up and too hot for his own good.

My heart races for a man who’s forbidden.
My breath catches each time his hand brushes against mine.
His heated glances melt me, leading me closer to temptation.

One night together has us desperate for more. But we have no desire to give this small town something to talk about—or worse, upset his sister.

But when a new tyrant of a landlord threatens my family’s business, I need a miracle.

Call it a marriage of convenience or a friendly favor, but he comes through for me. The diamond ring on my finger gets me out of a jam but also has us confronting our feelings.

Did I just make a deal with the devil? Or am I actually falling in love with my fake husband?

the setup…
Baylor Greene is stranded at the Dallas airport, trying to reach his final destination of Peachtree Pass. If he drives, he’ll get there in time to keep his promise to his niece and nephew but will arrive in the middle of the night. His sister Christine suggests that he spend the night at her best friend Lauralee’s new rental apartment instead. Baylor arrives and stumbles into the bed only to find it occupied…by Lauralee Knot. Well, that’s just the beginning of something more.

the heart of the story…
Baylor has a player reputation and is a successful New York financial manager. He’s not looking for a relationship, let alone his sister’s best friend. Really? Yes really. Lauralee manages Peachtree Sundries, which is owned by her mother, and she has plans to eventually take it over and expand. She’s open to a relationship but not with someone like Baylor. And he’s her best friend’s brother? No way! Yes way. Despite everything looking wrong for them as a couple, these two connected like soulmates.

the narration…
Willa Jaymes was wonderful as Lauralee, bringing that character to life. Nelson Hobbs has a nice voice tone that was seductive. I enjoyed their performances.

the bottom line…
I liked how easily Baylor and Lauralee connected and the lengths they went through to keep their developing relationship secret from family. But there were lots of communication issues because of Baylor’s bad decisions and the last one (a biggie) almost threw me out of the story because it was nonsensical. However, it made them stronger and I couldn’t help rooting for and liking these two. I enjoyed being back in Peachtree Pass and reconnecting with Tagger and Christine. Still enjoying this series!

I REALLY wanted to like this. I LOVED Swear on My Life by SL, but this one was a bit of a miss for me. It was good/ok for me. I felt like the pacing was a bit off. I had a hard time with the chemistry between Baylor and Lauralee. There really was no build up. He ended up at her house one night, and they had a one night stand. I kind of wish there were some flash backs. Just something to give us a little more juice on where the chemistry started with these two. Because in describing their relationship, it seemed like they had had some run ins with each other, but nothing had come from it. So it went from a ONS to long distance to kind of fake marriage very quickly. I had a hard time with the communication between these two. I LOATHE miscommunication, but this was different. It was just a lack of communication. I felt like there could have been some text banter too. With all that being said, this one had potential. I liked the side characters- specifically Tagger. I liked the thought processes both of these characters had in regards to what they wanted to do in life. And I liked that though the conversation about marriage started for business purposes, they both realized that they had true feelings for each other. I liked the Baylor had the realization that he was going through the motions at work and how Lauralee was fulfilling his life in so many ways.

Lauralee isn't looking for love. She definitely isn't looking for someone to break into her apartment in the middle of the night. But it is ok that it is her best friend's brother Baylor. The most handsome man she has ever seen. The one who she finds herself sharing a night with. Even knowing he still lives in New York and has made it clear he doesn't want more. But they have a connection. It feels different than it has with anyone else. And even though they don't define anything, he starts coming to visit more. He makes time for her. He invites her to New York for his work. He says he is falling for her. Then circumstances force her to ask for a LOT. She wants to marry him to save the business. But in reality she loves him. This all has happened so fast. She knows that. But could he feel the same that she does. Because she is starting to feel like this is all real. But then she finds out a few things that Baylor did that make her question things. That make her think maybe this wasn't what she thought it was. But after a grand gesture she never saw coming, she realizes they are on the same page. Especially now that he has moved back home with her.

Baylor is back home visiting family when it happens. When he meets her. A woman he has known his whole life, Lauralee Knot. His sister's best friend. Who he has now shared a bed with. Shared his body with. Who he can't stop thinking about. Whe he finds himself switching course on his life for. All without knowing what they are. But he recognizes that he feels different with her. But what does that mean. He is on his way to a promotion. Has an amazing life in New York. But when he goes back after a visit he realizes all isn't what he thought it was. It isn't the same because she isn't there. Which is how he finds himself visiting more. Craving time with her. So when she comes to New York for his job and asks him to marry him. He finds himself not freaking out. It feels RIGHT. It feels like this is how they were meant to be. He agrees but makes it clear he loves her. And actually wants this. But then things come out about previous decisions he made. Decisions that affect her. Decisions that affect them as a couple. He wants to make this right because he realizes he can't live without her.

This was overall an easy read, but I wanted more! it had potential but fell flat with the backstory and pacing for me. I am intrigued by Chris and Tagger and Griff- their other brother. On the fence about if I will read them or not though :/

Thank you to the author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Get ready for your next favorite small town romance with Baylor and Lauralee.

I had such a fun time with Tagger and Pris in book one, and now it’s time to see sparks fly again. Another adorable cowboy romance mixed in with marriage of convenience, he falls first, and a little who hurt you. I swooned the whole way through.

Thank you so much to Hambright for both the ARC and audio! I had a wonderful time duel reading this book and loved both the book and narration.

Small, hometown hero Baylor is a bachelor through and through living his big bad life in New York until he comes home for a weekend and bumps into lovely Lauralee…his sisters best friend.

The tropes were troping and I enjoyed the ride. It was a cute small-town romance with some cowboy flair. I liked the cute Shortcake nickname (much better than book one 😅).
I liked the family aspect and the side characters, especially the kids playing a part in this one.

Overall, this was a cute read. I eyeball 👀 read this one as the audio for the first killed me and I had a much better time this time around.

Thank you S.L. Scott and Hambright for the eARC

I really enjoyed this small-town romance! It features two of my favorite tropes, marriage of convenience and best friend’s brother and they were done so well. The relationship between the main characters was incredibly sweet, with just the right amount of tension to keep things interesting.

I flew through this book because I had to know what was going to happen. I also loved the side characters they were well-written and added a lot of heart to the story.

This is an interconnected standalone, and now I’m so curious about the next book in the series—I’ll definitely be picking it up. A great read overall. I loved it!

it is safe but brothers best friend so they knew each other before and she has a bad sexual past

1
“Being here has me thinking about Lauralee Knot for the first time in years, probably since my best friend married my little sister. I have plenty of women to occupy my thoughts in New York and even more to bury my past in what’s beneath me on any chosen night of the week. No expectations. No obligations. I have the freedom to do as I please at any time, which is more often than I should be proud to admit.”

2
“I’ve had boyfriends, but nothing that got to the living together stage.”

3
“Since there seems to be no embarrassment attached, I ask, “Why haven’t you come?”

She doesn’t avoid eye contact, but I only receive it here and there as she keeps redirecting her attention outside the vehicle. “I don’t know . . .” She readjusts in her seat and then says, “Truth?”

“Absolute.”

“I’ve been struggling in that area, which I’ve mentioned before, but I think you’ve tainted me.” A playful shove to my arm is followed by a nervous laugh. “I shouldn’t have admitted that.”

“It’s okay,” I say, not laughing at all. “I feel the same about you.”

“You do?”

I nod, but then I remember a few times. “Well, almost.”

“Almost?” she asks, her voice pitching.

“Don’t worry, baby, I haven’t been with any other women. But I didn’t have trouble getting off to the memory of you and me together.”

4
What’s happened between us has been fast. I mean, look at you. You obviously don’t have trouble getting women, and I’m no exception. But I want you to know that although I see you as a sexy piece of meat—” His mouth falls open, making me laugh. “Kidding. I’m kidding.” When our laughter dies down, I say, “You are very handsome, like ridiculously so, but that’s not what I like most.”

“What do you like most?”

There’s such a boyish charm about him in the moment, like he’s not some model of a man loose in Manhattan who’s given compliments all the time. We both know that’s not true. Women trip over themselves to catch his eyes, but I caught them.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Growing up, I was always disappointed to learn my friends never had older brothers, hell not even a younger brother between them! Not a boy to crush on! Rude!
Then I had to go off and find the final boss of older brothers- my husband- who has 7 younger siblings 😂

Brother’s best friend is one of my favorite tropes because the idea of growing up with the person you marry is so sweet. Even now my husband and I always say we wish we met sooner and talk about the things we both liked as a kid.

I love the setting, I’d move to a small town tomorrow if we could! The idea of a caring village around you sounds wonderful. Between the ranches and Main Street, this town sounds like such an idealistic place for the main characters to grow up.

Our FMC hasn’t had the easiest life and the MMC has become disillusioned to his.
After an accidental break in, they decide to stop fighting the attraction they’ve always felt.

I loved that they both talked to each other like adults. The FMC in particular is very vocal about her wants, needs and things that hurt her.

This is an independent standalone, I did not read the first book and it works so well. You definitely don’t need to read the first book but you might want to!

I fell in love with Peachtree Pass with Book 1, Long Time Coming, where we meet Baylor, Tagger’s best friend and big brother to Pris. The tables are turned for Baylor in Book 2, Lead Me Knot. This time it’s Baylor’s turn. He’s fallen for his sister’s best friend, Lauralee. And as they used to say back in my day, he was so sprung.

Baylor and Lauralee are such a fun couple. They are shown to have a good time getting to know each other, not just the steamy scenes, though those were good. I did love the pacing. I’m all about flip turner these days, and I enjoyed how Lead Me Knot had great dialogue between the characters that made me want to know what would happen next.

The stories can be read as standalones, but I highly encourage reading Book 1 since both characters are in it. I’m glad that the series continues in Book 3!

I love when an author can create a small town that feels like home, and Peachtree Pass feels like home in every way!

Baylor left home after high school and never looked back, but when a return visit has him spending time with LauraLee his sisters best friend he’s finding it hard to stay away!

Baylor and LauraLee come back together in such a hilarious way. I knew from that first interaction that I was going to be hooked and I was. Their chemistry was palpable and though there was some drama it wasn’t over the top and out of place. The characters and their reactions were relatable and you can’t help but fall in love.

The steam is steamy and the angst created at the start only intensifies their connection when they finally give in.

I am excited for the next book because this means I get to see all my faves again.

When Baylor Greene comes home to visit he sort of accidentally shows up at his sister’s friend’s rental, LauraLee Knot, for some rest. That leads to one interesting hello and a situation that might end up being more than just a favor. This is a fast paced romance between a small town girl and her friend’s brother that always had “something” between them but never acted on it… until now. Told in first person and dual POV.

This is one of those small town romances where you feel like you are right there as everything unfolds. The friendships and family relationships were a perfect mixture of banter and love. Baylor is back in his hometown in Texas and thinks he is staying at an empty rental. He is surprised to find his sister's best friend, LauraLee there. The two decided to secretly see each other before he returns to New York. Things get complicated when there is a bet involving a car, when LauraLee needs to get married to save her business, and of course that situation with Baylor living in New York.

The story of Baylor and Lauralee, his sister’s BF and a night of….

A marriage of convenience

This was a tough “miscommunication trope for me.

Baylor just lied to her over and over. He was hard to like as a MC. I would have expected this from a soon to be ex.

I would read this author’s other works!!

That was sweet and hot. Straight to the spicy stuff in the first chapters. Not much background context yet, but tackled the spicy lists already. What a fire 🔥
Since this is the second book of the series and Lauralee was Christine's (from the first book) best friend and Baylor was her brother, I guess it explained why there was not much background context on how Lauralee and Baylor connected. Though to be honest, it was kinda bothering me how fast everything was for them at the beginning. I wish they didn't move so fast. But since their moves were hot and entertaining to read, I am ok with it and truly enjoy their banter and dynamics.
The dramas though, ah how I hate miscommunication and Baylor was the master of miscommunication. I understood him all right but I think he got out of it easily. Lauralee was too fast to forgive him. I wish Baylor grovels more.
Baylor and Lauralee's relationship development from lust to love was also kinda off for me. I don't understand how they fell in love with each other. Especially for Baylor. How he fell in love with Lauralee was still a mystery to me. Either my comprehension level was not good at all while I read this book or I just missed altogether, but I didn't find any turning points on how Baylor fell for Lauralee.
All those aside, I enjoyed reading this book. It was light and delightful to read. I always love small-town romance and can't wait to be back in Peachtree Pass for the next book.

Thank you to S.L. Scott and The Author Agency for the ARC.

“𝓓𝓸𝓮𝓼 𝓪𝓷𝔂𝓸𝓷𝓮 𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀 𝔀𝓱𝓪𝓽 𝓪 𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓪𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓬 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓪𝓻𝓮?” “𝓝𝓸. 𝓨𝓸𝓾 𝓳𝓾𝓼𝓽 𝓫𝓻𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓲𝓽 𝓸𝓾𝓽 𝓲𝓷 𝓶𝓮.”

This is a very sweet…mid drama filled, small town romance. And it’s also my first time reading S.L. Scott. While I enjoyed it, I didn’t LOVE IT, which was kind of disappointing for me because I really do love a best friends older brother trope, but this one felt lacking in some areas.

Baylor is our playboy MMC who is back in his home town when he accidentally breaks into our FMC’s, Lauralee, apartment. Yikes…what a reunion. Lauralee is Baylor’s little sisters best friend…and though the late night intrusion is unexpected, it’s not entirely unwelcome. Because Lauralee has always had a crush on Baylor…and he’s only gotten hotter with age.

One thing leads to another and these two have a pretty steamy one night stand which is perfectly fine for Lauralee because she’s in no place to have a real relationship, and even if she was, Baylor would be her last choice. Despite his good looks and skills in the bedroom, he’s her best friends brother and his reputation with women isn’t great.

The two find themselves keeping in touch through text…and Baylor can’t seem to stay away from her…visiting often and even inviting her to visit him in New York. But Lauralee finds herself in a pickle and needs to be married in order to save her business…so she does the only thing she can do…and proposes to Baylor. Baylor realises that marrying her feels right…and he agrees but lets her know that he is indeed in love with her.

Of course, in true fake marriage style…these two are anything but a fake married couple. But we get a big BIG third act breakup which honestly…I get it…but also…it’s because Baylor is keeping secrets about the MANY stupid decisions he’s made that affect Lauralee in a very big way.

My issue with the book wasn’t the plot. I think the plot of this story was great and had a lot of potential. But I needed more of a back story on Baylor and Lauralee. Besides being his little sisters best friend, what was their story? Were feelings always there? What’s the build up? They fall into bed so quickly it almost didn’t make sense. I needed more of their road to feelings.

Also there wasn’t any real miscommunication but there was a lot of lack of communication where it counted. These two talked about everything, but the important stuff? It just never happened. I don’t know if the 3rd act breakup would have been avoided with discussion , because honestly it would have been hard for me to get over what Baylor did, but it still would have made sense to have that conversation before her trip to New York.

Do I recommend this book? Yes. It isn’t terrible and for some , you could get over the minor things that irked me, so I definitely think if you’re wanted something sweet with a little infuriating communication issues? This is definitely worth giving a shot.

Thank you so much to S.L. Scott and Hambright PR for the opportunity to ARC read this story 🩷

I'm a sucker for a SL Scott romance, but this one upped the ante. Honestly, I was a bit miffed with Baylor in the first book in the series; he was obviously painted as a playboy and he played that role very well. What I did not expect was how relatable and amazing Lauralee would be. Great friend, obviously, perfect FMC 100%.

These characters were so interesting to see develop, fights that happened were actually believable in a real life scenario, the reactions were just right, not over the top like some books end up doing. When things came to a head, I was so happy the characters were mature and respectful of each other and actually- GASP- handled the situation like two adults in a relationship. It was so refreshing to see. Also, the spice, chef's kiss. There was a little of everything in this book: romance, healing, found family, humor, and adorable kids. I'm so into this town. Also, have you seen these covers?

I am so glad to keep reading this series and that I got a copy from SL Scott and Hambright PR. Definitely recommend for your next small town read!

Oooooo okay I’ve decided I want this series adapted into a tv series, so if someone could get right on that- that’d be great. I think it’d be such a hit, the town, the drama, the family, the friendships, the relationships, everything. Okay and maybe I just want to physically see the scene of Baylor waiting in the pouring rain for Lauralee.

HE WAITED IN THE POURING RAIN FOR HER.

I feel like the drama was really cranked up in this book as opposed to the first, it was a more cozy read to me, but this one kept me thoroughly entertained. I could see the drama coming and was totally ready for it honestly.

I think this series is shaping up to be the perfect summer, small town romance with a little bit of yeehaw thrown into it.

But now listen, book three.. book three better be griffin’s book because that man has had like five seconds of time on the page and I want to be in his brain already!! And see him fall in love AND COME HOME !! (If book three isn’t griffin’s idk what I’ll do.. probably read it though 😂)

Lead Me Knot is a cute small town romance set in Peachtree Pass. This is Baylor and Lauralee's story. When Lauralee and Baylor spend one night together accidentally the temptation continues right after. Baylor is her best friend's brother and he's forbidden because they don't want to upset his sister. When the new landlord threatens Lauralee's family business, she needs a miracle. Lauralee proposes a marriage to Baylor to get her out of her jam.

This was my first book by this author. I loved the pacing of the story. It jumps right into the plot. The characters were flawed. Baylor and Lauralee had known eachother for years, but never acted on their attraction for eachother until now. I felt the chemistry between the two. I enjoyed their flirtatious banter. They had me laughing along with them. Lauralee was passionate about her family business and loved her hometown so much. Baylor was a finance businessman that strived for the next best thing. I did struggle a little bit with Baylor's choices and tried to see from his perspective. Overall, I enjoyed it!

Lead Me Knot
Peachtree Pass 2
By SL Scott
Narrated by Nelson Hobbs, Willa Jaymes

Fall in love with all the feels as Baylor and LauraLee find their way to happiness. Once again, SL Scott pulls me into her small town romance and gives me all the feels. Baylor is in town, needs a place to stay and encouraged by his sister to use her best friend's apartment. Little did he know LauraLee was going to be there. The two have had chemistry for a long time, but Baylor's playboy reputation and job that has him gone kept things cool. Now it's about to ignite. But will LauraLee believe she is the woman he truly loves? Scott gives all with witty banter with enough heat to keep their growing love sizzling. Add in misunderstandings, kindhearted deals, and good friends and family and it's a winner. This is a fabulous listen and I loved it.

Nelson Hobbs and Willa Jaymes are amazing together as they tell this story. Hobbs brings in the loving, smooth Baylor who gets emotional when it comes to LauraLee. His voice is perfect. Willa Jaymes holds every emotion that I was feeling as LauraLee. She is compelling as the woman trying to realize her worth of Baylor's love. It's a wonderful narration.

A swoon-worthy blend of forbidden romance, sizzling chemistry, and heartfelt emotion, this story is everything I love in a small-town romance. When a late-night mishap leads to something much deeper, the tension between a woman and her best friend's brother ignites into a slow-burn connection that’s impossible to resist. With swoony charisma that could kill and abs sharp enough to rival the Texas Hill Country, he’s hard to resist—and she is here for it and willing to risk her heart.
A fake marriage turns more real than either of them expected. What starts as a favor to save her family’s business soon becomes real love which neither of them signed up for, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Every stolen glance, every electric touch, and every complication only brings them closer to the truth: they might’ve just faked their way into true love and a forever connection.
Full of love, family, heartache, and heat, this book delivers the perfect dose of drama with a happy ending. It’s a must-read for fans of best friend’s brother and marriage-of-convenience tropes and SL Scott did a great job with this small town romance.

I loved the narration for this book! I thought both Nelson & Willa did an amazing job at bringing Baylor & Lauralee to life!

I loved this book!! I fell in love with the characters, and I need more. I have read a few others by S.L. Scott, and her writing took it to the next level in this one. This is my favorite one so far! If you love a small town, second chance, best friend's sibling, or cowboy romance, you are in for a treat with this one. I devoured the book in two days. I couldn't put it down and had to finish it. I'm OBSESSED with this series! Baylor and Lauralee were Chef's Kiss! This book had me hooked from the first page. It was fast-paced and kept me entertained until the very end. I loved their chemistry and was cheering for them the whole way. I can't wait for book three and to visit Peachtree Pass again!

This is a really good small town, best friend's brother romance, with a marriage of convenience. Lauralee is a bakery owner who needs a loan but the bank won't come through for her. Baylor is a businessman who wants to advance his career and being a married man might make him look like a better choice for his bosses. When Baylor comes back to town, his sister suggests he stay at Lauralee's apartment not knowing that she'll be there. They are surprised to see each other but the two hit it off splendidly with their flirty banter and hot innuendos. So when they both need a spouse, it makes sense that they look to each other. I love when the "fake" feelings become real! I really fell in love with these characters. I recommend trying this one.

Am I the drama?! I think I’m the drama. In that, I don’t need a 3rd act break up but legit drama I’ll take! This had the potential for great drama but I felt it fell flat.

Lauralee and Baylor have been in each other’s lives forever since she and his sister are besties. Baylor and Lauralee have a one night stand but don’t seem to give each other up even though she is in Texas and he is in NYC.

Lauralee needs a marriage of convenience because her rent is going up on her shop. There are a number of issues within their relationship (most of them Baylor’s fault) but what’s worse is Lauralee forgives so easily. Like make him work for it girl!

This could just be me. Maybe Lauralee is just a better fictional person than I am.

From the first chapter of this book, I knew it was going to be good. This book was well written and the author is an amazing storyteller. I devoured it. I loved the characters and their flirty banter. So many laughs and a few tears.

I loved the first book in the Peachtree Pass Series Long Time Coming. Although you can read Lead Me Knot as a standalone, I suggest reading them in order.

There's also a great bonus scene on the author's website that you shouldn't miss.

This was an audio listen for me with two narrators I'm not overly familiar with but did a good job as the MFL and MML. Lead Me Knot is a sweet, small town romance between the girl that stayed and the boy who left town for bigger things. As the best friend of his little sister, there were all kinds of feelings about whether it was a good idea to get involved. There were also a few misunderstandings that led to hurt feelings. Overall, I liked it. As I said, a lot of sweet with a bit of spice. I find lack of communication a bit frustrating in stories and want to just shake the characters and tell them to be honest. If you're looking for that feel-good, HEA this one might be for you. I'm giving this one a 3 to 3.5 star rating.

Baylor is such a sweetheart but also drove me absolutely crazy!!

I love that we didn’t have to wait long for the romance to begin. They were attracted to each other and took the leap. Things got spicy real quick and I was here for it!!

I loved watching their feelings grow for each other. Lauralee deserved a good man and happiness after everything she’s been through. I love that we learn more about their backstory. Sweet moments about Baylor’s mom and more banter between Baylor and Tagger🤣 always getting each into trouble that’s for sure!

There were a few things in the story that I did it absolutely love, but it’s definitely a me problem. I’m not a huge fan of miscommunication and the fact that a lot of the problems that occur could have been avoided rubbed me the wrong way. I was literally yelling at my kindle!!

I will say they won me back over towards the end. Love the sound family vibes and the sweet twists towards the end. I just wish the reveal would have been a bit more drawn out. I wanted more 🥺

Overall, I loved this series and can’t wait to see where S. L. Scott goes next!! If you’re a fan of small town romances, check out her books!!

Baylor & Lauralee are magic together - so many emotions, so much to work through together and from their past, and the * spice * ! I LOVED it! There's drama, secrets and LOTS of feelings!

Highly recommend for any romance reader!
