This popular book is an attempt to respond to the needs of both Muslims and non-Muslims in North America. Its purpose is simply to acquaint the average reader with the basic teachings of Islam; not intended to present the depth or breadth of Islam. It guides Muslims to the median way in all matters of life, rejects fanaticism and narrow mindedness. It provides truth about Islam, a spiritual insight and a moral approach to the human condition. The author hopes that "it will make them responsible citizens of their respective countries, honorable members of the human race, and above all else, God-minded people".
One of the most thoughtful introduction to Islam. This book is great because it does not just talk about Islamic rituals, but also explains why. A great gift to anyone interested in Islam or to any Muslim seeking to better understand his/her faith.
Informative. This book did a nice job of breaking down and explaining the basic teachings of Islam including (but not limited to) prayer, fasting, the status of women. It addresses the ideological foundation and basic concepts of Islam, the application of faith, how Islam is applied to daily life, and a section at the end dedicated to five common distortions about Islam.
An interesting read, especially for one living in a Muslim country. An excellent alternative to bombarding friends with questions stemming from cultural curiosity...
The information provided a inital look into the beliefs of Islam. At times it was very repetitive, but I believe that may have been to stress the point.
This book cuts to the point of every worship, habit and principal in a clear and concise way, so because of that it should be in every Muslim household let alone be the first book recommened to people curious about Islam.
