Peter DeHaan writes about biblical Christianity. He urges Christians to push past status quo faith and reexamine their spiritual practices.
Many people feel church let them down. Peter seeks to encourage them as they search for a place to belong.
He’s not afraid to ask tough questions. This sometimes makes religious people squirm, but he does this out of love to encourage them to become more of who God intends them to be.
Peter earned his doctorate from Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary, awarded with high distinction.
I know this is not the rating this author wants, and it is rare for me to leave a 1-star review, but it is the best I could do. Let me state up front that the main reason for this rating is that the author states at least twice (on day 13 and day 25) that in the Old Testament, people earned their salvation by being righteous. Here is a direct quote: "In the Old Testament, righteousness was how the people earned their salvation—or at least how they could strive to earn it. In truth, it was an impossible goal to achieve" (page 78). This is a serious error in doctrine. Beyond this, I feel the book was not enjoyable to read. It certainly didn't communicate the richness of the truth the author was dealing with, as the best devotionals do. I cannot recommend.
I acknowledge that I received an advance copy of this book through the Goodreads giveaway program, and I was not required to leave a positive review.
Thought provoking and inspirational short readings centered around the idea of giving thanks to God. I am enjoying reading this as a lead up to the holidays. The sections are just long enough to give me something to chew on and savor for the evening or morning. It would be a nice family devotional with older children possibly. The short prayers are nice at the end to help center on what the Lord has done. 4 stars

Very well thought out devotionals. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed how each day is organized with a great message of faith and thankfulness. I decided to read this prior to Thanksgiving as a way to celebrate not only the upcoming Holiday but to grow closer in my faith with a thankful and blessed heart and this book inspires this. Thank you for the Goodreads giveaway for my honest feedback!
I received this kindle edition in a Goodreads giveaway. I really enjoyed waking up and reading this daily. I will definitely check out more devotionals from this author. I enjoyed the questions section and the daily prayer.
