Written in the Nightmares

The scars hold a story, but the nightmares whisper the truth.

Following the torment and tenderness of Written in the Scars, Reagan’s journey spirals deeper into the shadows. Haunted by memories that bite and betray, she’s fighting battles no one else can see. Orion stands poised, her so-called white knight, brandishing love like a sacred weapon. But Reagan doesn’t crave saving, she craves fire. And beneath his gleaming armour pulses something feral. Something untamed, magnetic, dangerously irresistible. She feels it in the way his gaze lingers, in the silence between their storms.

Is salvation found in light or in the seductive grip of the man whose demons might just match her own?

In this sultry sequel, desire tangles with pain, and love dances dangerously close to obsession.
One thing is nightmares never lie.

Violet Rose is an English dark romance author currently raising two mini monsters and a small army of morally grey book boyfriends in South Yorkshire.

Her book obsession started with Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton, but let’s be honest, the horror villains had her heart long before that.

When she’s not writing seductive emotional damage, she’s buried in books, bingeing TV, or doom-scrolling TikTok like a gremlin in a hoodie. No shame. No survivors.

Amazing. Seriously. Loved book 1 but book 2 hit every element for me perfectly and i have not a single negative bar one...Why did it have to end?! Feral for book 3. This book was raw on so many levels and the dialogue was so well written. All the feels and trauma. The love. I was hanging on every word so read it in one sitting. The spice was 🥵 and thr office scene etched in my brain. Small book massive impact. This is how you write novellas and leave me desperate for more! Read the series. You won't regret! So excited for more from Violet Rose!

What a perfect sequel to written in the scars.

This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster, it will haunt me for a while.

Reagan and Orion continue to be raw, real, and completely captivating. Their ups and downs are written to perfection, completely unforgettable.

I was truly hooked from the start just as I was with the first book! The characters and world building is just amazing.

It pulls you in entirely, makes you really feel like you’re part of their story. I never quite knew what to expect in the best way.

Reagan continues to be a bad bitch warrior, Orion having her back at every twist and turn.

Even down to how the spice was written in, nothing in this book feels like a page filled. Everything has a reason and just adds the plot and the characters.

I definitely recommend giving this a try and I can wait to see what comes next from Violet Rose.

Thank you to Violet rose and Beth at the wings and words community for giving me the chance to arc read this!

Im so sorry that i am having to write this as i was so looking forward to reading the next part of Regan and Orions story.

However i was so underwhelmed i know they were dealing with the after effects but it felt like i was reading about 2 completely new characters to the sexy fiery 1s from the 1st book.

It had so much potential and it fell short, for me it dragged all the way and then the ending was rushed. It had so many plot holes that it lacked detail.

Even the spicy scenes werent spicing.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed book 1 in this series, Written in the Scars, but questioned why the author left the story where she did. Now I know! While a perfect continuation of Reagan and Orion's story, the vibe is so very different.

In Written in the Nightmares, Reagan is having to face her truamas and nightmares while learning to grow in spite of them. Orion is determined to support and 'see' her through it. As Reagan moves through her healing, the story behind both her physical and emotional scars begins to unfold. Can Reagan rely on Orion to see her and stay? Can she learn to swim and not let it all consume her? What does she want, and is she brave enough to grab onto it?

The writing had a sensual, intimate, and soothing feel from the start, which Orion fostered in his approach to Reagan. Patience, calm, encouragement, and safety are his offerings, but their past can only be held at bay for so long.

I'm anxiously waiting on book 3.

Absolutely Captivating

Written in the Nightmares completely blew me away. From the very first page I was hooked, and I honestly couldn’t put it down. Violet Rose has such a way of pulling you right into the story — it’s dark, emotional, and so addictive.

Reagan and Orion were incredible. Both of their characters are written with so much depth and strength — they’re flawed, raw, and real, but also so resilient. You feel every single one of their struggles and triumphs, and it makes their journey unforgettable.

The atmosphere was amazing too. The writing is vivid and haunting, and you can feel the tension in every scene. The mix of darkness, romance, and raw emotion kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

This book has it all — strong characters, beautiful but chilling storytelling, and a love story that stays with you long after you finish. I can’t recommend it enough, and I’ll definitely be picking up whatever Violet Rose writes next!

Written in the Nightmares

I was lucky enough to be apart of the ARC team for this so thank you Violet and Beth at Wings & Words for the opportunity.

NOW! Violet, Violet, Violet!! You have done it again!! Written in the Nightmares follows on from Reagan and Orion and their whirlwind of a romance! Now this sequel dives deeper into the darkness stirring the shadows as Reagan tries to keep her head above water. Her dark knight, Orion is there, waiting to slay anything that goes bump in the night, but will it be enough or will the nightmares come to life and burn what they love most, each other.

This read lost points for me as I felt it just needed to be longer. The plot was amazing and the story line was gripping however I just felt so much was packed into a small package, that some aspects were glazed over where there could have been more detail. I LOVE Violets writing and her books are phenomenal, I just need more!!

With twists and turns around every corner, this novella although small packs a punch and will leave you gagging.... for more. So hold on to your knickers as you are in for one hell of a ride!

Written in the Nightmares picks up right where Written in the Scars left off, and Violet wastes no time pulling us back into Orion and Reagan’s dangerously addictive relationship. The chemistry between them is just as intense, equal parts tender, volatile, and absolutely unputdownable.

This installment does start a little slower than the first book, but once it hits its stride, the tension and spice more than make up for it. Violet balances the darker, emotional undercurrents with sizzling scenes that keep the pages flying. And that ending… a brutal, perfectly placed cliffhanger that leaves you desperate for the next book.

If you loved the first, you’ll definitely want to dive into this one. It’s intense, spicy, and impossible to look away from Orion and Reagan’s story.

I asked for another book and wow did violet rose deliver!! I’m so happy to know that this couple are doing well and healing with each other, it was also so good to hear reagans back story!! I feel like written in scars now has more depth now that I know what happens to poor miss gall I mean she can not catch a break!
I loved how beautifully described the more calm moments of this book, it felt so real and almost personal?
Obviously the spice was spicy if you know what I mean! Wink wink!! A well written little short book that I absolutely think you should read especially if you need something short to break a reading slump!

I was so excited to read more of Orion and Reagan after reading book 1, Written in the Scars, and damn, it did not disappoint! This is a small book, but it really packs a bunch. It has all the feels, the trauma, healing and of course the love! I fell in love with these characters in book one and love them even more now 🖤 Thank you so much to Violet Rose and Words & Wings for this arc, can’t wait to read more!

It’s a four star read for me. I did enjoy the first one more than the second but granted the second book is the healing side of the story.

Reagan who is the bad ass FMC – and Violet Rose knows how to portray a bad ass FMC – let me tell you.

Reagan goes through a lot of trauma through both books but really comes into her power in the second book,

Orion, OMG! Orion is divine - the MMC. He is a burn the world down and ask questions later kind of book boyfriend. He will happily get down on his knees for his queen – and he does and it’s freaking hot.

The smut is definitely smutting and I often found myself clenching my thighs together.

There are some trigger warnings so please check those before you read the book.

I have to read you the dedication because it sums up the book so well.

“To the women who claimed the dark, wore the scars and returned with bloodied hands, a crooked crown and a smile that dares them to try again.”

I 100% recommend anything that Violet Rose writes she is amazing, this isn’t the first book I’ve read of hers and it definitely won’t be the last.

Written in the Nightmares by Violet Rose is book two in this incredible series, and it completely blew me away. The story is dark and emotional, yet full of strength and hope. The female main character is surprisingly her own hero—not just once, but multiple times. She shows such resilience, proving that it’s not the past that defines you, but the way you choose to face it.

Violet Rose’s writing is vivid and haunting, and the characters feel so real. The suspense kept me hooked, and the emotional depth made the story unforgettable. By the end, I was left inspired by the main character’s strength and courage.

A must-read for anyone who loves dark, heartfelt stories with a powerful message.

This is such a strong follow up to the first book. It may be short, but every page is packed with tension and emotion.
The story moves fast without ever feeling rushed and the twists kept me on edge the whole time. I loved seeing how the characters grew and how their relationships became even more complicated and real.
The dark atmosphere pulled me in from the very first chapter and refused to let go until the end. I’m already eager to see where Violet Rose takes this series next.

Thank you so much Violet and the Wings & Words community for letting me be a part of the team. ❤️🌺

This is a 4.5* Must Read
So I was not expecting this… this book hit differently to the first book in the series. This puts you through the emotions and thanks to the author’s writing style you are right there with the characters. This book whilst, sees the progression of Reagan and Orion’s story also opens up the the some of the history and back story to certainly Reagan and a little tease at the end for Orion.
Once again Violet Rose has written a novella that packs a punch and leaves you asking…. Why did you stop there? And what do you mean you haven’t finished writing the next one?
I was lucky to read this as an arc through the joint collaboration of @Violetroseauthor and Wings and Words community.
Would I recommend this? Absolutely

Violet does it again. Bringing hard hitting emotional content, suspense, gorgeous characters and hot spice. I loved this follow up to written in the scars. Raegan had so much growth in such a short novella and Orion continues to be swoon worthy. And that ending!!

Definitely recommend if you enjoy dark romance!

This was a short little novella that I consumed within a couple of hours. This continues on from book one. We see Reagan and Orions romance continue.

I loved that this book delved deeper into the darkness that Reagan is dealing with. As with book one we see Orion always there by her side. As usual this had a very good story line. I honestly just wish facebook was a lot longer. I feel like there is so much more to be said in the story. I guess that just leaves us longing for more.

This spoke definitely held my interest. There was so much to unpack in this story. With twists and turns, I enjoyed every minute of it.

I gave this four out of five stars.

Another amazing book by violet rose loved the characters Reagan and Orion she will not speak about the torment behind her eyes not the nightmares that twist her into screams and he can’t breathe knowing she is breaking and his not the one she runs to I love this part “For the first time since I walked through those doors, I felt it.Not fear. Not grief.Power.And fuck me, it feels fucking good . This book has parts that might be triggering to some so please read the triggers . I loved the details of how her pain turns her in to a stronger version of herself the love he has for her . Couldn’t stop reading

I absolutely loved book 1 and that hasn’t changed.
Do I wish there was more of it? Yes!

I feel like the story, albeit amazing, was a little rushed and could have been padded out more but given the storyline it didn’t take away from the book either.

I love that as a couple they are healing and facing traumas together. An amazing quick, spicy read.

I laughed, I gasped and I wanted to shout out loud at the characters. I can’t wait to see what book 3 has in store for us!

Oooo gggiirrllll... I didn't know what to expect after book one, which route we would take with the characters but this was not where I was expecting, in the best way! 🫶 I love the fast paced writing, the down to business attitude, the burn, the feels. I adore these two and will show up to every tale they are woven in to!
Any mental health struggle will have me invested immediately, especially when it's done so beautifully and so honestly!
.
I've read some 'darker, tales that leave gaps in the storyline that infuriated me because it left out the soul of the story but Violet leaves space for you to see the story play out in your mind's eye by feeding you all the real and important info! I devoured this in a day and would definitely recommend book one and this to anyone experiencing a slump, cos man this will have you woke!

Ok sooo… this was short. Like blink-and-it’s-over short. A tornado of emotions hits hard, then—poof—gone. “Pleased meeting you,” and we’re already at the end.

This sequel picks up right where Book 1 left off—no time wasted, just straight into the emotional whirlwind. It’s short, yes, but intense.

Reagan’s journey is raw and painful. Her trauma and inner demons are laid bare, and you can’t help but ache for her. Orion, as always, is her anchor—steadfast and loyal. I adored her in Book 1 and still do, but this time around, I found myself feeling a bit conflicted.

Then there’s Elias. His sudden appearance threw me off. Where did he come from?

Despite the brevity, the emotional impact is strong. I’m definitely waiting (impatiently) for Book 3. Just a heads-up: ‼️check your trigger warnings‼️.
