Amish Book Club Mystery
Buried Secrets: A Clean Cozy Whodunit Featuring Three Elderly Women Sleuths in a Small Town
A grave opened in the night. An empty coffin. And a group of elderly Amish sleuths must confront the secrets Sweet Briar tried to bury.Rosie Weaver treasures her simple, steady life — tending her garden, sharing tea with her monthly book club, and keeping danger safely tucked inside her books. Still, widowhood has left her the time to be watchful, even when she pretends otherwise.
When a young man’s coffin is discovered empty in the cemetery, Sweet Briar’s calm fractures overnight. The discovery unsettles Rosie and her group with a mystery they cannot ignore, prompting them to wonder what else lies buried beneath their small town.
As whispers about Josiah Miller’s rough past and bad crowd grow louder, Rosie, Irma Gingerich, and Lovina Frey realize they can no longer stand aside. Teaming up and cautiously sparring with English Sheriff Johnathan Carr, the three friends begin to untangle a story far more complicated than anyone expected.

I’m a country girl at heart, an author, a homesteader, and a lover of all things simple living. My passion lies in capturing the essence of the simpler side of life, much like the one I enjoyed growing up in rural Pennsylvania.
My life has always been intricately linked with Amish culture, and it’s only fitting that I have a deep, genuine love for their simplicity, sense of community, and God-centered way of living.
Growing up in Northwest Pennsylvania, I spent my childhood immersed in the heart of Amish Country. The rhythmic clip-clop of horse and buggies was my morning soundtrack as Amish men journeyed past my home to work. A pivotal moment in my young life was shaped by a tragic Amish murder, a story detailed in “Crimson Stain” by Jim Fisher. Jake, a key figure in that true story, was my uncle.
Now residing in South Carolina, my family and I frequently travel through the Amish regions of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and Wisconsin. These journeys are not just visits but research expeditions. I take pride in writing Amish fiction that authentically represents their culture, thanks to the invaluable insights from friends within these communities.

I hope this is the beginning of a l-o-n-g series.
First book in the series. I read Book 2 before this one. Didn't lessen the enjoyment of either one. I still want to join the ladies' Book Club.
You'll guess part of the ending, but not all of it. An involved plot. Plenty of secrets are kept hidden. Some sentences that will resonate with you.
An understanding of grief. One description was spot on with me. Grief is the real culprit in this story. Some did not deal with it. Instead, they let grief destroy themselves and the people closest to them
This morning, when I sat down with my coffee and my sweet fur baby, I had no plans to finish the book. I was only at 8%. But ... I had to keep reading. Just a warning. Same thing might happen to you.

Firstly, I must thank Tracy Fredrychowski for my ARC of this book. I thought that this 5 star read was a cozy mystery total delight from the first to the last page. I enjoy cozy mysteries and love Amish fiction so putting them together in one book was perfect for me. Tracy is showing her skills at writing by tackling cozy mysteries. She does it with her uniquely brilliant way of writing the narrative of the book and drawing us into the conversations in the book to the point we feel part of them. She describes her scenes in perfect detail so we can close our eyes and picture us this. During a scene where there was smoke from a fire I could almost smell the smoke by how well Tracy described the scene. She did something else for me. It was not obvious who did it and she kept me guessing for the whole book. I did guess bits here and there but was way off on other parts. Our main characters, our 3 sleuths were adorable in every way. They took book club to a whole different level. I look forward to meeting up with them in the next book of this series. This is a great place to start reading Tracy with the first book of a new series and know that she has many others that you can binge on as soon as you become addicted like most of her fans. Thank you again Tracy for a truly enjoyable read.

Buried Secrets by Tracy Fredrychowski has an intriguing mystery. Secrets abound in the small town of Sweet Briar. Secrets have a way of coming to light especially when there has been a murder. I thought Buried Secrets was well written with steady pacing and an interesting mix of characters. The book club sleuths (Rosie, Irma, and Lovina), of course, could not resist doing a little investigating much to Sheriff Carr’s annoyance. Rosie has a knack for being in the right place at the right time to overhear crucial conversations. The threesome gathered the various pieces, sorted through them, and shifted them around until the puzzle was unscrambled. I enjoyed the moments of excitement that had me quickly flipping the pages. Rumors moved through the town with greater speed than maple syrup down hot flapjacks. Buried Secrets marks the beginning of An Amish Book Club Mystery series, and I am looking forward to reading the next installment. Buried Secrets is a curious story with a murder, hidden truths, sleuthing friends, a slick newcomer, a little flirtation, and uncovering answers.

“Buried Secrets” is the nicely done first book in Tracy Fredrychowski’s Amish Book Club Mystery Series. Only a few more days, and you can finally dig into Buried Secrets - Book 1 of An Amish Book Club Mystery Series. The book has an interesting setting – Sweet Briar, Ohio, a close-knit community where the Amish keep their secrets to themselves – and interesting characters – amateur Amish sleuths Rosie, Lovina, and Irma who investigate on their own and pick what they will share with Sheriff Carr. The mystery is intriguing – a Amish resident appears to die in a buggy accident but the body disappears after the coffin is buried. This is nicely done with plenty of twists and turns and surprises. The book offers some interesting insights into the Amish way of life – Fredrychowski doesn’t sugarcoat the way they live – and the book can be sad at times. Yet, through it all, there is a sense of budding love and hope. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens to these characters next.

You are going to want to clear your schedule before you start this book. It’s THAT good and you will not want to put it down!!
This is the first book in the “Amish Book Club Mystery”. It follows three friends - Rosie, Lovina and Irma. Three older women who like to get involved in the town’s business.
When a young man Josiah Miller dies in a tragic accident and then his body goes missing, Rosie Weaver is set on finding out what REALLY happened. Once I picked it up, I had to find out what happened. I had a few guesses along the way, some where correct but the ending tied it up in a bow.
This should be your next cozy read!

I love an intriguing mystery and this book filled the bill! The storyline kept me wondering just what would happen next. I never knew what to expect. Many people knew "bits and pieces" And everyone has their opinions as to what happened and things continue to worry the townspeople. I think this book will be enjoyable and interesting reading for all. There are some exciting moments that will keep you on your toes. Rosie, Irma and Lovina, bookclub sleuths, will leave no stones unturned!

This story kept me guessing, trying to unearth the many hidden secrets right along with Rosie, Irma and Lovina, Sweetbriar’s very own bookclub sleuths! And more often than not, much to Sheriff Carr’s chagrin! So many of the community’s citizens involved, so many half truths and so much gossip spreading like wildfire, even the infamous bookclub trio struggled to find and expose the truth. I am so excited about this series and eagerly look forward to the next installment!

Buried Secrets by Tracy Fredrychowski is her first book in An Amish Bookclub Mystery series. A mystery in Sweet Briar with hidden secrets and a shameful cover up entices this bookclub of Amish women into sleuthing. Quick read, with people not always as they appear to be. Thank you, I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions are completely my own. Releases April 1, 2026
