She was the moon. He was the night. Together, they rise. Together, they fall.
In the wake of the eclipse and her father’s death, Layna’s dormant powers awaken with devastating force—wild, unpredictable, and impossible to hide. As she struggles to lead Alzahra as its new queen, whispers swirl about the infamous Moon Queen, threatening to expose a truth that could unravel everything. When vicious rumors ignite across the continent, moonlit fury simmers in her veins, and her control slips further from reach with each passing day.
Zarian has turned his back on the Medjai, determined to carve out a new future at Layna’s side. But the past clings to him like shadow—and he carries secrets he’s never dared speak aloud. The world around him shifts like desert sands, uncertain and ever-changing, but one thing remains his need to protect Layna, no matter the cost. But when an old friend resurfaces, Zarian is forced to confront a question he thought he’d already answered—can he truly leave the Medjai behind?
When dangerous forces rise against her, Layna is forced to flee Alzahra and hunted across the continent. She must face the rising storm inside her and uncover the truth behind her celestial light—even if it means setting fire to everything she’s fought to protect.
Will Layna harness her light and restore peace to the continent—or will her powers burn too bright to be contained?
The Moon’s Fury is the gripping second installment in the Moon & Sands series—a world-altering, unputdownable epic tale perfect for readers who crave immersive worldbuilding, flawed and complex characters, and jaw-dropping twists. Dive deeper into a realm where loyalty is tested, secrets unravel, and power always comes at a steep price.
Leena Kazak has been spinning stories since she was ten years old, when she wrote her first short story and never looked back. A lifelong reader, she’s devoured everything from fantasy and thrillers to historical fiction and contemporary romance—but these days, she’s happily tumbled down the romantasy staircase and shows no sign of climbing out. (Send help).
She writes fantasy romance with fierce heroines, impossible choices, and immersive worldbuilding. When she’s in the thick of drafting, Leena wakes up between 4:30 and 5 a.m. to chase that magical, half-asleep window when words flow freely and the world is still quiet.
Leena lives in the frigid Northeast with her brooding, handsome husband and their two adorable, half-feral sidekicks. (Leena and her husband are actually the sidekicks, but don’t tell her kids that.)
Oh. My. Gosh. The Moon’s Fury completely swept me away, I’m obsessed!! This book took me right back into the desert world I adored in book one, and I swear I love it even more now. The adventure, the fast-paced plot, the twists, I couldn’t read fast enough.
I loved the multiple POVs and the introduction of new characters (some of them instantly stole my heart). The banter was perfection, the character development hit so well, and the world-building is just so seamless. It’s one of those stories that feels easy to fall into and impossible to put down.
And THAT ENDING?! I’m screaming, crying, throwing the book across the room, I need book three in my hands immediately. If you love romantic fantasy with adventure, heart, and characters you’ll want to protect at all costs, you have to read this series.
Oh Leena, you’ve done it AGAIN. When I first did the cover reveal post it was noted that this book would ruin my life. It did, in the best yet heart wrenching way.
I am stunned, my heart is split in two and I just crave more. The treacherous journey Layna and Zarian experienced had me holding my breath the whole time. The way Zarian just adores her has my heart, he would do ANYTHING for her and proves that time and time again, just aweh, me heart.
aaaand then we get a taste of Soraya and 𝘩𝘪𝘮 ( unnamed here because spoiler otherwise). I love them and cannot wait to hear more about them - the chemistry and shyness just had me blushing. So cute.
The overall plot was very engaging. As we follow along on this dangerous journey towards safety, we get to see multiple POVs. I loved having insight from not only Layna but also Zarian and Soraya as well.
I also enjoyed how the plot moved. There were new characters introduced during the end that sparked my interest. I am very excited and intrigued to see where the story goes from here.
This book was so good! I loved learning more about Soraya and Jamil along with Layna and Zarian. It’s adventurous, emotional, and romantic. Such a great read. The cliffhanger has me even more excited for the next book.
The Moon’s Daughter was a fantastic introduction to Layna, Zarian and the world of Alzahra, and I loved it, but with The Moon’s Fury Leena Kazak cements herself as a MUST READ romantasy author.
The banter, the spice (more explicit than TMD but still walking that line between all out smut and romantic tension), the intimacy between Layna and Zarian (and Soraya and a certain someone) is as addictive as anything I’ve read and I was hanging off Leena’s every word.
The dual storytelling in both TMD and TMF is a fascinating way to introduce lore and parallels without dumping exposition, and both stories intertwine and perfectly compliment one another - I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next. If you love romance (blushing and all consuming), one horse, one bed, who did this to him, she shaves him (probably a new favourite micro trope so thanks for that 💕) and true partnerships of equals where they both worship each other you must must MUST run to pick this one up when it releases later this year.
Thank you so much to Leena for the early ARC, (and for tolerating my unending, feral spamming) and for your stunning, gripping, ICONIC, and totally hilarious book.
massive thank you to Leena for an early ARC copy of The Moon’s Fury! i’m so grateful you trusted me again with your babies! 💛
this book constantly lived in my brain from the moment i started reading. it took no time at all to be transported back to Alzahra with Layna, Zarian and Soraya, and it truly felt like coming home and hanging with friends 🥹 but with a lot of tension 👀
i don’t want to spoil too much, but moonsdamned, this book gave me all the feels!! from laughing at the banter to giggling and kicking my feet to cheering during a tense battle to sobbing in my backyard. this story had my heart racing and melting at the same time!! the character development, storyline and everything in between was genuinely chef’s kiss 👌🏻
The Moon’s Fury found where The Moon’s Daughter lives in my heart and snuggled up together 🥹
if you loved The Moon’s Daughter, you’ve going to be enamoured by The Moon’s Fury. releasing August 26, 2025, and ARC applications are open now! head to Leena’s profile to apply!! 💛
Leena captured my heart and stored it somewhere safe from the moment I laid eyes upon The Moon's Daughter, Book 1 of her Moon & Sands series.
Did it hurt? Oh, I did. It hurt, but the pain was worth it. It was worth diving into Leena's world, understanding each character's motives and needs, understanding the binding of family loyalty, loyalty to the crown and its people, and loyalty to the teachings you've known all your life. It hurt witnessing characters being forced to choose between loyalty and love. I found myself on the edge of my seat the entire time, not needing food or sleep; I just had to know what would happen next.
And now I know, after reading the sequel, The Moon's Fury. Did it hurt any less? If anything, it hurt more, as Leena can attest after so many unhinged messages and theories I've shared with her. Do I regret the pain? Not in a million years.
If I regretted it, I would've missed the chance to witness Layna's growth. I would've missed the chance to see her choose what truly matters. I would've missed the chance to witness Zarian become who he was truly meant to be, and not who he was trained and moulded to be. I would've missed the chance to see them both grow together and learn that home isn't a place but a person. I would've missed the chance to follow Soraya's path, the one she was truly meant to take and with whom she was meant to travel the road less travelled.
I would've missed it all, and that, that would have been the biggest regret of them all.
So, no regrets and turning back. The only way is ahead, following Leena's stories and characters. The only road I wish to take. So, let me take you with us.
This book completely swept me away! I'm obsessed!! I swear I love it even more than the first. I couldn't put it down! One of my favorite parts was the multiple POVs. The banter was perfection was perfect! It's one of those stories that is so easy to fall into the world with! That ending was absolutely insane! I need book three in my hands now! A romantic fantasy with adventure and heart ties with characters you'll want to protect at all costs!
LOVED IT! Layla and Zarian are GOALS!!! Zarian is everything you’d hope for in a fantasy MMC - he’s strong, he’s wise, he’s honest, he’s do anything for Layna!!
This book had the perfect balance of action, desire, grief, love, and satisfaction. I couldn’t put it down!! The illustrations on a handful of the chapters were also *chefs kiss*
This has been such an amazing fantasy series! I can’t wait for book 3.
✨ three love stories ✨ only one bed / one horse ✨ feminine rage ✨ political intrigue ✨ forced proximity ✨ even look at him/her and ☠️ ✨ mutual pining
🌙 “I don’t care if you can’t heal my wounds, because just your touch makes me forget any pain I’ve ever endured.” 🌙 “You don’t belong to the moon, Layna. You belong to me.”
4.25 stars ⭐️ The Moon’s Daughter was such a captivating building of the development of Layna, Zarian, and the world of Alzahra, but with The Moon’s Fury, Leena Kazak firmly establishes herself as a must-read romantasy author.
The banter is sharp, the intimacy beautifully balanced (a little more explicit than TMD, but still holding that perfect line between romantic tension and full-on spice), and the dynamics between Layna and Zarian—as well as Soraya and a certain someone—were absolutely addictive. I couldn’t stop turning the pages.
One of my favorite aspects of both books is the dual storytelling. It’s such a clever way to weave in lore and parallels without heavy exposition, and the way the narratives connect makes the world feel so rich and layered. I was constantly on edge, eager to see how it would all come together.
If you’re a fan of swoony romance, consuming devotion, and tropes like one horse, one bed, “who did this to him,” and yes—the she-shaves-him scene (a micro-trope I didn’t know I needed until now)—this book delivers in every way. Layna and Zarian’s partnership as true equals, where their love feels both worshipful and grounding, absolutely stole my heart.
A huge thank you to Leena for the ARC (and for putting up with my feral reactions). The Moon’s Fury is stunning, gripping, hilarious, and iconic.
The Moon's Fury was thrilling, romantic, heartbreaking, and addictive. TMF is a sequel to The Moon's Daughter that was released in 2024. Both books are part of the Moon & Sands series which are available on Kindle Unlimited.
TMF picks up right where the first book left off. Layna & Zarian are the embodiment of "true love". I was so happy for them reading their journey towards each other. Zarian really shined in this book, showcasing exactly why Layna fell for him. I was also happy seeing Soriah taking charge of her destiny in the love department.
There were some heartbreaking moments in the book, ones I will not reveal because im trying to write this review spoiler free. Those moments add well needed highs & lows in the plot. Every detail, every event, every emotion made sense & added to the story seamlessly.
Thank you Leena for the ARC and opportunity to read The Moon's Fury early! This book was captivating and takes place in an area unique area of romantasy. If you want to read about deserts, magic, sword fighting and secret organizations, I recommend to start with The Moon's Daughter and continue the journey with The Moon's Fury! I enjoyed the second book in this series more than the first. I found the beginning to be more engaging, though that may be due to the cliffhanger at the end of the second book. Following both sisters through their journeys added more intrigue to the book. The tension and yearning through the book was to die for! I am a heavy on the spice gal typically but I always have a soft spot for intense yearning and this book delivered.
If The Moon’s Daughter captured my attention, The Moon’s Fury captured my heart! This trilogy deserves way more hype! I can’t believe I devoured this book in just a few days.
The Moon’s Fury picks up right where The Moon’s Daughter left off, following Layna and Zarian’s journey across the continent. While the first book was set mostly within the palace, this second one finally opens up the world, and it’s as incredible and complicated as I hoped! I loved Layna and Zarian’s relationship here: how they fight for one another and always prioritize each other’s well-being. Their bond is beautiful. After everything they’ve been through, it was so heartwarming to see them finally find some balance.
I was intrigued by Soraya in book one, so I was thrilled to see more of her in this book. And Jamil’s POV? I was so excited to get inside his head!
The Moon’s Fury is full of twists and turns, it’s impossible to get bored while reading. I have so many theories!! The story is utterly addictive, the writing immersive and captivating, and that breathtaking ending… I need book three ASAP.
Some scenes had me giggling, others had me holding my breath. The flashbacks are so important, and I can’t wait to see how they all intertwine in the final book.
Huge thanks to Leena for the early copy in exchange for an honest review!
🇮🇹:
In alcune scene ho riso tantissimo, in altre ero senza parole. I flashback di questo secondo libro sono fondamentali, e non vedo l’ora di scoprire come tutto si intreccerà nell’ultimo volume.
Un enorme grazie a Leena per la copia in anteprima in cambio di una recensione onesta!
I experienced the full range of emotions while reading this book 😂 One minute I was giggling, kicking my feet over the MENNNNN (*bites fist*) in this book then the next minute I was heartbroken 🥲 THEN I WAS FLABBERGASTED by plot twists!! 😱😳😂
Zarian, the man that you are… 😮💨 I loved seeing a new side of our MMC as he is jealous over his queen, protects Layna, and is such a devoted lover and partner. The slow burn is soooo worth it 🥹🫶🏼
I wanted to reach into the book and give our Layna a giant hug literally throughout the entire book omg 😭 not only is she struggling to fully connect with her powers and her identity, but she’s also grieving lost loved ones and missing Soraya. The sister bond in this story is so powerful I literally FELT how strongly these women were reaching for each other.
ALSO!! The second love story in this book...O.M.G.!! I won’t say anything specific so I don’t give any spoilers but… I was literally foaming at the mouth to get more chapters from the others’ POV. This book has a second man that comes in and YEARNS LIKE HIS LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!! I adored it. I adore him. But I won’t say his name because everyone needs to read it for themselves and fall in love with him with no context 😂😂
While this book has no scenes that are fully explicit, the tension and the steam in the romance scenes are absolutely deliciousss 🔥
I love how the mystery of the Moon’s power is slowly being revealed to us through flashbacks of a past from an unknown POV that leads us to put the pieces together. I’m still so intrigued and ready to find out more!!!
The ending to this book left me speechless.. 🥲😂 WHY, LEENA!! But the cliff hanger was so intense I’m already desperate to get my hands on book 3! 🤪
The Moon's Fury by Leena Kazak Moon and Sands book 2
Thank you to Leena for entrusting me with an early copy!
Multiple POV, two love stories, forced proximity, look at her and 💀, one bed/horse, trauma rep, mutual pining, feminine rage, secret/forbidden power, steamy then fade to black, kissing in the street to avoid getting caught, they tend to each other
Layna hadn't felt her powers after receiving them, but she discovers that when she is in stressful situations or those that make her angry, they come out to play. And people are afraid of her. Rumors abound, her own mother is among those afraid, and on top of all that, they are trying to bully her into marrying the king who sent them part of his army. But she has chosen Zarian and stands by that decision. Zarian left the warriors he was a part of to stay with Layna, but can hardly stand watching her be pushed at another man. And when he is sent on a fool's errand to keep him away from her, he regrets the argument they had before he left. But soon Zarian is warned that more assassins are coming for Layna and he races back to escape with her just in the nick of time. Can they stay ahead of the danger and figure out their relationship while on the run?
What a beautiful next book! There is some tension to start with between Layna and Zarian and then there is a whole other kind of tension! We get the romantic scenes and lots of caring for each other with fade to black scenes, which did not bother me at all! The romance was definitely still there and I loved them together! We also get a second budding romance - I LOVE multiple romances in one book! And the ending! I have questions! Ooo I can't wait for the next one!
Book 2 in the series and I think I like this even more than book 1!
Layna and Zarian must face the aftermath of the eclipse and her powers. They adventure through other kingdoms, face secrets and devastation. While her sister and mother also flee and have their own journeys.
There is a LOT that happens in this book with multiple story lines. The dream sequence (which we don't get a conclusion of or who really it belongs to within this timeframe) is interesting. We have Layna and Zarian and their love and devotion is really something to behold. There is a lot of character development that happens for both of them and it's really great to see that evolution of themselves both separately and together. There is a lot of grief, heartbreak, but also love and hope. I typically like 1st person POV but I didn't mind this. And I usually love spice, but this book had a lot of passion and spice per se, but closed door. You got the heat but then bam door closed. Which in this book, I didn't mind at all. There was enough steam and passion that you got what you needed. I was very happy with how it was written.
I love Leena, she is supportive and an awesome person and writer. I loved this book and cannot wait until the next one. I have so many questions and can't wait to find the answers!
Tropes: Trauma/Mental Health Rep Touch her and d!e Feminine Rage One bed/horse Mutual Pining Steamy Romance
I truly love this series and think it’s so underrated. I’ll be shouting about it from the mountaintops until everyone has it on their TBR. 😉
The sequel follows three love stories that contain so much depth and have excellent pacing, making it easy to get invested right away. There really isn’t a single character I didn’t love. They all bring something different to the table, and together it’s the perfect mix of personalities. The character growth from book one to two is perfect and sooo satisfying.
So many sequels introduce unnecessary or unrealistic conflict to keep the plot exciting, but Leena doesn’t do that. The main plot is strong enough on its own, which I thought was very refreshing.
She also handles the spice in such a unique way. Even though it’s a low spice fade to black romance, there is no lack of intimacy. Instead of focusing on the physical act, she emphasizes the anticipation and the aftermath, while developing the emotional connection between characters.
And if you love a man who yearns… THIS SERIES IS FOR YOU. Zarian is the ultimate yearner, and a certain someone (😉) comes in as a very close second.
A fantastic sequel! This was every bit as exciting if not more so than the first book!!
I loved how action-packed it was and it was so full of adventure! I enjoyed exploring the different places and cultures throughout!
I loved Zarian and Layna’s relationship in this one! I loved the challenges and struggles they faced and how they overcame them and grew together. It was beautiful and I can’t wait for more!
This one also offered some new perspectives from Soraya and Jamil’s POVs as well.
Tropes to enjoy here were forced proximity, on the run, high stakes, one horse, touch her and xx vibes, possessive MMC, mutual pining, political intrigue, adventure, multiple POVs, jealously, female rage, warrior MMC, morally grey characters, magical princess FMC, quest, and so much more!
TMF is an engaging story that keeps you guessing and wanting more.
The pace is steady and the plot keeps you invested with everything that is going on in the different timelines. There is vast information that keeps adding to the world building of the story, without overwhelming us.
The characters are lovable and vulnerable. Each of them are working through their emotions and grief and learning from each other. The main character's love keeps getting stronger and the other relationships in the story are just as interesting and caring as our main one.
The ending left me surprised and excited at the same time and I cannot wait for book three of the series.
Thank you Leena Kazak for the opportunity to read this story!
WOW! I always find it hard for a sequel to top the first book, but this definitely blew me away. From the first chapters I was hooked. The continuation of the world building in this novel is amazing, I felt so immersed into this world. The dual POVs are perfectly timed and this book was such a fun thrilling adventure! This book may have secured a spot on my top 3 reads of this year already. I loved how this story furthered the previous plot, however added so much more to this series (especially the new romance IYKYK 👀). Would 100% recommend this series to any fans of fantasy romance looking for unique world building, battles/action, well-developed characters, and great romantic tension.
Thank you to Leena for the ARC and I feel so lucky to be a member of your street team 💛
Holy moons, this book... When I say I've been waiting forever for this, I've been waiting FOREVER (literally since I finished reading The Moon's Daughter last year). This book was beyond what I expected and maaaaannnn. It was sooooooo flipping good! Leena, I seriously hope you're ready for me to be bugging you 24/7 (yet again) when to expect book 3, because after that cliffhanger I was just left with, imma need that book, like yesterday 😂 You are an outstanding writer and I am sincerely grateful to be with you on your journey! So much love and support, my sweet friend!!!
This book is a beautiful continuation of the Moon & Sands series. I am so in love with Leena’s writing style. The relationships are real and vulnerable and raw and beautiful. If you love Stacia Stark then you’ll loooooove Leena Kazak!! You won’t find open door spice in these books, but it’s not even needed. The development of the relationships in this series is chefs kiss. The characters carry the engaging storyline and there is rarely a dull moment. I can’t recommend this series enough!!!
I enjoyed this book as much as the first in this series. A mix of emotion, action, and romance - I felt it kept me engaged throughout the whole read. I really enjoyed the multi POV’s- I thought they were done really well and gave each character a distinct voice. Also the male pining in this one???? ✨CHEFS KISS✨
P.S - I really need book 3 now, after that criminal ending!!
This is the second book, and it's just as good as the first. These books quickly grab your attention from the start, making you binge-read until there’s nothing left. That’s how compelling they are, which is why I give it a 5-star rating.
I received the ARC of this book and here is my review:
What a good follow up to the first book! The journey of Zarian, Alayna, and Soraya was fun to follow and you can really see the growth in all the characters. Some good action, some love, some confusion, and some heart pounding moments. The emotion is real for this one.
The spice level increases, and is still more about the plot than the spice and stays closed door. The stakes get higher and the author doesn’t hold back for what entails as they continue on this journey and what happens.
The ending gave me goosebumps as the cliffhanger opens a whole new can of worms. You just knew it was too good to be true and waiting for that shoe to drop on what comes next.
Everyone loves a good touch her and die and not only does this have that to the next level but it’s got mess with him and feel her wrath vibes too. “Sometimes women need to fight in different ways than men, but that doesn’t make them any less.”
This book was so damn good!!! The way all the relationships developed was fantastic, and I can't wait for the third book - I needed it yesterday.
It was well paced, so adventurous, and the world building was literally chef's kiss.
It made me tear up, laugh, scream, and literally everything you want from a good book! I feel so lucky to have been on the ARC team for this masterpiece 🫶🏼
I don't want to get into spoilers here, so I've sent my immediate thoughts to your email!
I liked the first one, but the second one was even better. I loved the dual romances and the twists. It was written just as beautiful as the first. I can't wait for more.
All of the characters stood out and were unique. There was less political and more movement in this book, which I really enjoyed. I found the pacing much quicker, and I was intrigued by the individual stories along with the overall plot.
Leena does such a great job telling a story with a lot of dialogue between characters and not a ton of action. I loved the dynamics she created between characters. There was a lot of chemistry between the main couple and the secondary couple. Highly enjoyable!
Top tier Romantasy series 🙌🏻 all the banter and longing and tension PLUS a dynamic plot filled with intrigue. A romance filled with friendship, proximity, and possessive kisses in stolen moments 🫠 You get all the best high fantasy, Romantasy feels in this which I absolutely love. Those characters and side characters are some of the best I’ve read 🥹
Once I picked up The Moon's Fury, I could NOT put it down. The multiple journeys and romance kept me so engulfed in this book.
Leena does such a great job with the world building as we follow the characters to new Kingdoms and travel across new terrain. We meet new characters and get to fall in love even harder with Layna and Zarian. If you loved the short story, The Spare Heir, from Soraya's POV, you're going to love how much more of her story is in TMF.
Now, let's talk about the spice. It's low, but it's definitely not lacking. And by that, I mean to say, while it's considered closed door or fade to black, the build-up is 🥵
If you have not read The Moon's Daughter yet, pick that up now before you start TMF.
The tropes... ⚔️ Forced proximity 💞 Three love stories ❤️🔥 Mutual pining ☠️ Look at her and die 🔥 Female rage 🛏 One horse/one bed 🏰 Political intrigue 🥀 Trauma rep
Hi friends! If you’re craving a book that delivers yearning in the best way, multiple POVs done right, closed-door spice that still turns up the heat, and lore that pulls you in deeper with every page—The Moon’s Fury is exactly what you need.
Book one gave us a taste… but book two? It completely blew me away. Leena takes everything we loved from The Moon’s Daughter and elevates it masterfully. We get to dive further into Layna and Zarian’s journeys—both together and apart—while also meeting new POVs from Jamil and Soraya that had me absolutely kicking my feet and swooning. And the banter? Chef’s kiss.
Leena’s prose shines—this is “show, don’t tell” at its finest—and the worldbuilding is woven so seamlessly you don’t even notice how much lore you’re absorbing until you’re left desperate for more. The pacing? Flawless. The emotional rollercoaster? Brutal in the best way. I laughed, I cried, I yelled (ask Leena 👀).
Now? Book three is an absolute need. Highly recommend—please read it immediately so we can scream about it together!
