*EXTENDED SPECIAL EDITION * I read her words. I felt her soul. I knew she was destined to be mine. She's the light in the darkness, the epiphany of my redemption. I’ll do whatever it takes to get my hands on her—though I’d rather her believe it was her own idea. So, I set the bait, luring her into making a deal with the devil. But surprisingly, she doesn’t take it. And now, I’m left to force her hand. Because without her, I’m afraid I’ll be devoured by the monster inside me.
**No A Dark Romance contains heavy themes such as stalking and detailed violence, but it does not include cheating or SA. It is a standalone with an HEA. For a full list of triggers, visit anniewildauthor.com.
The extended edition contains 8 additional/bonus chapters that were not seen in the original release. While they are not crucial to the story/plot... it really helped to give a little more clarity into Henry's obsession and how it manifested. Additionally, you get another glance into the character Luca and the irony in some of the comments.
"It's easier to eliminate the threat than try to keep them in a basement or some shit"
If you know, you know! If you don't... I suggest you add No Control and Killing Emma to you TBR 🫶🏻

Original review from the first released edition of No Control:
This book had me hooked from the first chapter! Henry Is all the red flags, and I need them all. This was my first read by Annie Wild, and I must say the writing style is chef's kisses!
This book contains dark elements, so please read the TWs.
Lydia, an author, receives an offer to be a ghost writer for a tech genius.... but the type of book he wants written is a little unorthodox for a person in his 'career' field. Despite the carefully laid out offer, there are terms Lydia needs yo follow, including uprooting her life and moving across the country for a man she knows nothing about. Does she accept the terms and conditions outlined in Henry's offer?
If you're into dark romance, you will not be disappointed
This was a fun time!! I do think it would've benefitted from being longer, since some of the pacing was a little weird to me. Like I just personally feel like some things needed more time on page to develop, especially since some of the spicy scenes felt a little ~questionable at times without prior discussions if you know what I mean. STILL, not complaining!! I'm looking forward to reading more from Annie Wild.
“I think the man would burn down an entire village for you in a heartbeat. All you’d have to do is ask.”
Our mmc, Henry, was possessive and obsessive with a hint of brokenness and vulnerability and I loved him. My heart broke for him and what he had planned to do. The story did feel a bit slow to begin with however once it picks up it does become quite fast paced. I did wish the plot had a heavier focus on the contract k!ller aspect and flushed out the development of the relationship a bit more but I did enjoy what was given. This is a perfect book if you’re beginning your dark romance journey!
“I’m just a different kind of evil than the man who raised us. Still destined to destroy.”
💀 contract k!ller mmc x writer fmc 🥀 touch her and d!e 💀 stalker romance 🥀 forced proximity 💀 secret identity 🥀 kn!fe play
The story revolves around a hired assassin who falls in love with a dark romance writer because he believes she creates characters similar to him. He then hires her to write a book for him, but there's a catch: she must move into his home.
Although she's a bit hesitant, he's determined to convince her in any way he can.
I absolutely love Henry! He’s the perfect mix of dark and broody with a slight touch of stalker tendencies. The plot is filled with crazy twists and turns that had me holding my breath at times! I'm glad I read this addiction as I love Henry and Lydia and enjoyed reading more about them. We can't forget Duke, I want a dog like him, loyal and caring.
3.75 ⭐️ addictive, messy, and full of angst the kind of book you can’t stop reading even when you’re side-eyeing the characters.
The chemistry was intense right off the bat, definitely leaning hard into insta-lust territory. While that made things exciting, it also made the emotional connection feel a little rushed. The middle dragged at times and felt like it was circling the same drama without much actual progress, but the plot itself was solid and kept me interested.
If you’re into morally gray romance with obsession, chaos, and tension that never lets up, this one will probably work for you. Not perfect, but definitely entertaining.
I loved all the bonus chapters definitely made the story come together. And the chemistry between Henry and Lydia it's to die for... and then puppers Duke. It melted my heart how Henry was with him. And the fact Lydia still held up her end of the contract even after everything happened and how she played that all out I was all giddy like a kid I a candy store and if you're here for the spice don't you worry there's spicy spice.. definitely recommend this read I even bought the other books in the series
Let me just say …. Henry & Lydia plus the doggo duke!!! Henry is so cute with his dog for someone who is a hard arse lol but Ugh this book had me in a choke hold !! So good and worth the read. Lydia kept up her end of the bargain and that was absolutely amazing. And the extra chapters were even better 🫶
