I’m Grim. Yeah, that’s right. Grim, like Grim Reaper. I command the souls of humans. No one defies me and my power.
I don’t need light and love. My realm is the boundless darkness. Until the day she enters my existence. A little human. The most beautiful thing I’ve ever laid eyes on.
Mila, with her beautiful curves, the face of a sinful angel, and a passion that brings me to my knees. I must tempt her. Touch her. Possess her.
She begs Spare me. Because only I can give her the life I took from her. But everything has its price—even death.
She shall live, under one condition. In exchange for her life, I get her.
Sometimes I still shake my head at myself! Me and sci-fi?
“Never,” I would have said, just a few years ago! I am much too caught up in the here and now for that. When I think about how big the universe is, and how small we all seem in comparison, I feel nothing but awe. In my writing, my passion goes to the creatures who live at the edge of our world. Aliens, werewolves, panther shifters, vampires - all of them fascinate me. That’s why I try, with the help of my keyboard, to breathe a life into them.
Asher's Birth: Grim was a unique fantasy romance between Death (Grim) and a human woman. It is a standalone novella, but I am hoping this will be turned into a series.
Mila's landlord asks her to take her place for her next fortune telling/tarot reading client, knowing Death was after her. Grim shows up to take the fortune teller's life but decides to spare her when he is immediately captivated by Mila. She is forced to go with him to the Underworld and is his new assistant.
I enjoyed the couple's chemistry, and I am also intrigued by Grim's brother. I am hoping we get his book next.
AUDIOBOOK REVIEW 🎤Duet narration by Angelina Rocca, Gregory Salinas & Oscar Reyes
This audiobook was fantastic with duet narration by Angelina Rocca and Gregory Salinas, featuring Oscar Reyes. Angelina and Gregory performances elevated this story, and I loved Oscar Reyes as the raven Lucian.
Thank you to Must Love Audio for providing the ALC.
I really enjoyed the storyline AT FIRST, especially grim having a shadow puppet attached to him that also can f*** her..... and I truly enjoyed the voices chosen for this project. The voices match perfectly. as usual, the production of this was phenomenal. And I will definitely add these narrators to my must listen to list. I could honestly go on and on about how much I loved the voices for the characters they portrayed
sooooo let talk about the book becauseeeeee
the good.
Him missing her and saying I need therapy made me giggle.... just the idea of the grim reaper sitting in somebody's office. So tell me about your childhood.
"I never had one. I just appeared into existence and started capturing souls. But there's this girl. "
Him sleeping with other women in his missing her, though, that took a whole TWO stars for me because I don't want to hear about that. What do you mean he wasn't a tortured, lonely soul the whole time he was missing her... honestly, that will take a book to 0 stars for me.
And I understand the point of him taking her dog in replace of her, because like now her dog will be there waiting for her in the after life. And he was gonna die anyway, so good trade, but also, now she's lonely. and then the whole she gets pregnant because she wasn't exactly dead. But wasn't really alive, vibe didn't hate that. but the ending was horrible because...........
spoiler alert
I KNOW THIS BITCH DID NOT JUST DIE DURING CHILDBIRTH!!!!! YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME

Asher's Birth: Grim by Jenny Foster is a stand alone that I hope will become a series.....This is why you should pick up this book:
-A very different take on the Grim Reaper who delivers souls after the human has passed. -This book was so descriptive. As I was reading, I could imagine myself in each and every scene. I could vividly see everything that was being talked about. -The characters were developed so well. Loved how they became who they were in this story and how they got to be who they were in the end....You must read this book to understand what I mean. -Sparks .....I need a Sparks in my life. -The romance in this book, while somewhat forbidden, made this story into a romance that I want expecting. -The writing was very lyrical. I truly have not read a story written like this one. It was so original. -Not in a million years would I have thought that I would cry in this book...yet I did.......... -I fell for these two characters in a way that I wasn't expecting. Their story while tough to read was something I didn't know I needed in my life. -This is a vey modern take on the Grim Reaper and I could not have loved it more. -I didnt's understand the title until I read the story...Makes so much sense! -I hope this becomes a series!
I listened to this book on Audio narrated by Angelina Rocca, Gregory Salinas and Oscar Reyes. Brilliant and so well done. I loved Angelina's Portrayal of Mila...so full of emotion. And Gregory and Oscar each had roles so different but performed with so much "gusto". I love audio books and its narrators like these that make them so enjoyable. They all put their hearts and souls into their performances and it makes listening the perfect way to really get the true feel of the story. Well done!
Thanks, @jennyfosterauthor and @mustloveaudio for the ALC!
Well, no good deed goes unpunished... When Mila agrees to take her landlady's place for her next tarot reading/fortune telling client, she thinks she's just being helpful. After all, it's a small favor, she's an actress and she can throw some platitudes towards the client and all will be well. What she doesn't know is that it was the fortune teller's ploy to fool Grim (as in Reaper) and avoid death. Grim is immediately taken with Mila and doesn't know what to do with her now that he knows he has taken the wrong person.
Mila is baffled by all this but most of all by the fact that she's mesmerized by the long-haired, scarred being that absconded her to the Underworld. He offers her a partnership until he can figure out how to fix this mess caused by Calpurnia - that is, if he can part ways with the only creature who's ever warmed his heart.
Asher's Birth: Grim is a very interesting fantasy/paranormal romance with a different take on the afterlife.
The chemistry between Mila and Grim is off the charts and there is family drama even in the underworld. Who knew??
The audiobook is narrated in duet by Angelina Rocca and Gregory Salinas, featuring Oscar Reyes. It's always a pleasure to listen to Angelina and she's amazing as Mila, a woman whose life literally 'goes to hell'. Gregory's voice is just right for the commanding, scary Grim. He also adds a tenderness to the Grim Reaper. Oscar Reyes has a small but pivotal role and he nails it.
Though it doesn't end in a cliffhanger, it does leave you wanting for this to become a series. I need to know more about Hunt... and Asher!!
Great spooky and romantic listen for the Halloween season.
Content notes: the books deals with mortality and death, depicting death involving humans, animals and other beings.

Grim and Mila
I was so pleasantly surprised by this story. I truly hope this is only the beginning and we get more from this world. I can think of several stories I’d love to read from these characters, main and side characters alike. Grim and Mila have an instant connection but there was nothing typical about their story. I was not expecting the emotional reaction I had as the story progressed. No spoilers here but I was shocked at the end of this book.
These narrators were perfectly cast. Angelina Rocca has such a smooth tone and acted out these scenes with so much emotion. Gregory Salinas really embraced the broodiness of Grim. While Oscar Reyes had a smaller role, I really appreciated the addition of a third narrator to the cast.
Asher’s Birth: Grim is a standalone spicy fantasy romance that will steal your soul (literally).
When Mila fills in as a fortune teller for her neighbor, she never expects Grim—the Reaper himself—to show up, believing she’s the one he came to reap. 👀 Turns out, her neighbor set her up to cheat death, and now Mila has to navigate this new half-life… while Grim, who’s been searching for something (or someone) for centuries, may have finally found what he’s been looking for.
A fresh, unique twist on the Reaper myth, where Grim collects souls and delivers them for judgment—until Mila changes everything.
🎧 Audiobook lovers: don’t miss the powerhouse narration by Gregory Salinas & Angelina Rocco, featuring Oscar Reyes!

This story that's about Grim (Death/Grim Reaper) and Mila was an entertaining read and will be one among of my collection I've read about Death/Grim Reaper I highly recommend. This modern take story starts with a bit of trickery that involves Mila our actress as she takes over for Madam Calpurnia a fortune teller and her landlord business for a couple hrs. Agitated Madam Calpurnia tells disbelieving Mila that Grim is coming to take her. Madam asks if she mind her business as she does errands. Grim and his assistant Lucien are indeed coming to take Madam Calpurnia. What ensues when the Mila meets Grim was an enjoyable story. Our characters Grim, Mila and Lucien who changes into a raven were wonderful depicted, and the chemistry sizzled between Mila and Grim. Sparks the mutt was a cutie addition. I'd volunteer to read and review this delightful copy I'd received.
This is the best paranormal book I have read all year… and I read a LOT. These characters are incredibly well developed; the paranormal world-building is flawless and seamlessly fits into the modern landscape; the storyline is innovative, intriguing, and captivating; the ending is a bitter-sweet HEA that left me with hope (I especially hope that this is going to become a series 😊). I received a free advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review. I thoroughly enjoy reading books by this author, no matter what pen name, and I would highly recommend this book if you are looking for a paranormal story written with polish and articulation that grabs your imagination and takes you to another realm. Enjoy the journey!
This is a unique story about death where Grim the Reaper of death takes souls who’s lives are to end and delivers them and their fate is determined by another. When Mila is tricked into voluntarily helping her neighbor Madame Calpurina to give a man his fortune telling, her life is turned upside down and Grim takes her even though she tells him the truth. These two are in an unexpected situation and once they learn to exist in his underworld they actually enjoy each other’s company. When Grims darkness starts changing he is faced with a necessary change and then his brother does the unthinkable making Mila’s death worse. When the worlds are balanced the cost is more than either wanted. I can’t wait to read more of this underworld and take on death!
✨𝒯𝒽ℴ𝓊𝑔𝒽𝓉𝓈✨ 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗮 never imagined that by taking a friend's shift, she would be forfeiting her life to the Grim Reaper. Now she is stuck with him until someone else is willing to exchange places with her. However, things take a turn when they fall for each other!
𝗜 thoroughly enjoyed this paranormal romance. At its core, the Grim Reaper is simply a man tasked with guiding souls to the afterlife when their time has come. He is not inherently evil. This portrayal of the Grim Reaper revealed a more human side to him, adding depth to his character. The story also serves as a sort of prequel to the next book, which had me intrigued!
𝗜 especially loved the audio version narrated in duet style by Angelina Rocca and Gregory Salinas, featuring Oscar Reyes. 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹, if you're a fan of bite-sized stories with a unique twist on the afterlife, be sure to give this story a listen.
Grim was my first book by Jenny Foster so I had no idea what to expect. What I did not expect was such a beautiful ending that brought tears to my eyes. This book was intriguing from page one and an interesting take on the Grim Reaper. Grim was fast paced and easy to follow along, which isn’t always the case with paranormal romance. I loved these characters and the spice was definitely spicing. Looking forward to more from Ms. Foster.
Let’s talk narration: When I saw the narrators for this book I knew I wanted to check it out. Grim is narrated in duet by Gregory Salinas and Angelina Rocca featuring Oscar Reyes. What an all-star cast, right?! Each narrator did a flawless job bringing this unique story to life. Bravo.
Asher's Birth: Grim by Jenny Foster is a gothic romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Gregory Salinas, Angelina Rocca and Oscar Reyes.
This is the first book of Jenny's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I was pulled in from the very beginning and couldn't wait to see how it was all going to play out. I loved getting Grim and Mila's points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
Gregory, Angelina, and Oscar did an amazing job on the narration. They all really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you're looking for a gothic fantasy romance.
This was an unexpected treasure. I love short stories and this novella hit me where it hurts - in a good way.
It had all the hallmarks of a gothic-ish romance. Love, death, the afterlife, yearning, and familiars (magical pets?).
The audio is perfectly narrated. Absolutely recommend listening.
I would have loved a little more spice, but overall a great love story. High praise for the DP shadow scene - you’ll know it when it happens.
This could easily be a series as there are a few open ends that I have questions about. I really enjoyed the theme of love transcending death. Definitely pulled at my heartstrings.

I was totally & immediately hooked by the fantastic duet narration of this audiobook and the way the story starts so quickly with a new twist on the Grim Reaper story.
But for me, the ending came completely out of nowhere and felt incomplete, and was not a full HEA.
I originally wanted to read this because I was in the mood for a standalone fantasy book, but this does read a bit more like the set up to a potential series of interconnected standalones. Which I would be interested in reading though.
This is a surprisingly brilliant read: I found it slow going at the beginning, but soon found myself hooked. When Mila agrees to take her landladies place, she has no idea what she has agreed to. When Grim comes to harvest a soul, he soon realises what has happened and must take Mila instead. This story has so much going for it: there is conflict, sibling rivalry, proximity attraction and eventually love. I voluntarily received and reviewed an ARC copy of the book.
I really enjoyed the author's writing. I felt like the perfect set up for a very interesting series. The story is interesting and ultimate leads to exactly what the title eludes to, along with the possibility of more. Grim and Mila were great characters. The development of their romance and the way they met was a nice twist. I liked the glimpse of Grim's brother Hunt and his lost love. Hopefully, more comes from that and we see more of Asher soon. I definitely recommend checking this one out.
A different take on Death. I think that Death can take on different “faces”. It can be scary, or beautiful. I guess it would be different for every one. Like the woman fighting for her life. A nasty painful Death or a welcome relief from all the fear and or pain. Not a bad story. I really liked the ending.
I really didn't know what to expect with this one. Its far from my norm, but I did enjoy it. This is dark and unhinged, but would you expect anything less with a title like this? The audio is performed by Gregory Salinas, Angelina Rocca, and Oscar Reyes and they did an amazing job bringing this one to life! Thank you to MLA for the ALC.
Asher's Birth: Grim by new to me author Jenny Foster was a delightful surprise that starts off a bit slowly but the action heats up and is definitely worth sticking with it. I really enjoyed reading this and looking forward to reading more from this author.
I received an ARC from the author and am leaving my review freely.
3 ⭐ Narration - 5 ⭐ duet FMC - actress MMC - death (I know, right?) The premise was great, and this could have been a masterpiece, would the characters had time to actually create a connection. It felt flat, because it was super rushed. Also, and this is the 👇 SPOILER 👇
You will notice the name in title is none of the characters... And the title is on the nose.

while this may have started a little slow, the action and drama ramped up and became a most enjoyable read. Grim is not your normal hero of the story and his differences make for an intriguing look at a position not many would willing choose, nor have the ability to fulfill.
Grim was a beautiful story of love. I think Mia and Grim were interesting characters with a lovely storyline. I would love to see where this goes if there’s more. I feel like it’s a good starting point and will build well into and a series.
The premise is fun and I enjoyed the world but for some reason I just couldn't get into the story and unfortunately the characters never pulled me in, this was an alc so I was thinking about reading it and see if maybe that will be a different experience.
Grim was a quick read and totally worth it. I was invested in the characters and it was all due to the character development. The narration was perfection and beautifully crafted.
