Your mental health matters. This book contains dark imagery and explicit scenes. Viewer discretion is advised.

"From Dusk" by A. B. Owings is a twisted dark romance steeped in obsession, trauma, and the unbreakable bond between twin sisters caught in the shadows of the Selby Estate.

After a harrowing accident, Evelyn vanishes to a secluded, out-of-state rehab center, haunted by the weight of her addiction and the secrets she refuses to share. When the silence stretches too long, her twin sister, Emory, begins to suspect something far more sinister is at play. A cryptic letter. A disturbing phone call. A stranger who knows too much.

Emory's search is what leads her to Selby Manor-a decaying estate with a legacy of madness and secrets buried in its walls. However, the true danger is Oliver. Obsessive. Territorial. Beautifully unhinged. He has been Emory's shadow for years ... watching from the edges of her life and now ... he's ready to step in. Whether she wants him to or not.

Evelyn--on the other hand--spirals deeper into her darkness, finding herself drawn to someone just as damaged. The sisters are forced to confront the men who claim to love them--and the parts of themselves they've tried to hide.

In a world where desire becomes possession and love turns dangerous. Emory and Evelyn must face a truth that could shatter them both.

"From Dusk" is a slow burn where he is not human, she is not safe ... but sometimes love doesn't need permission.

This book... Just whoah.
I can't even put into words how it grabbed me by the soul. From the very first page, I was completely hooked. I couldn't tear myself away and it hurt everytime I had to. I NEEDED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED NEXT! I NEEDED ANSWERS! As I delved into its depths, I felt this whirlwind of feelings wash over me in every page. I got lost deep, as if the story had a life of its own, pulling me deeper with every word. And I can’t help but wonder, was that the A.B. Ownings whole purpose all along? To transport us right into the heart-pounding, gut-wrenching, exhilarating emotions of the characters, step by step.
Curiosity that burns. Frustration that makes you want to scream. And oh, the spice—so fiery and bold! Confusion that cuts deep. The tears that you can't help but let tear right through you. The darkness—the shadows linger, heavy and thick but some welcoming and warm. Quickly contrasted by the humor—light, witty, and perfectly timed—brings a breath of fresh air just when you feel like you might drowned. Those pop culture references? *Chef’s kiss*—absolute perfection.
This isn’t just a book; it’s an unstoppable emotional rollercoaster that leaves you breathless and yearning for more. I cannot wait for the next book, and we just got this one. THANK YOU A.B. Owning for leaning into our emotions and fear and unspoken of levels of spice to bring us something so healing and memorable.

Every dark romance readers dream right here.
Stalked man check
Paranormal elements check
Masked man check
Dubcon check
Chasing through the woods check
Saving the girl and avenging her check check
Brooding men check
A man who breaks the forth wall check
If you like all those masktok/booktok spicy videos then this book is for you. But reader be warned check your triggers because that ending was rough! And the knife play was a bit much for me but that is me some of you are into that lol.
Multiple pov(5), haunting narrative and a little bit of emotional damage sprinkled on top. Better than Haunting Adaline, and at least there are ghosts in this one! Also I have to say I appreciate the suggestion of a safe word.

Book Review: From Dusk by A.B. Owings
A Dark Stalker Romance That Explores the Shadows of Love and Trauma
Tragic Nights Trilogy, Book 1 By A.B. Owings Published: 2025
Overview
"From Dusk" marks the compelling debut of A.B. Owings' Tragic Nights Trilogy, delivering exactly what its subtitle promises a dark stalker romance that refuses to shy away from the darker aspects of human emotion and obsession. This 364-page novel plunges readers into a twisted narrative where love becomes possession, desire transforms into danger, and the bonds between twin sisters are tested by forces both external and internal.
Plot Summary
The story centers on twin sisters Emory and Evelyn, whose lives diverge dramatically following a harrowing accident. Evelyn, struggling with addiction and trauma, vanishes into a secluded rehabilitation facility, leaving behind cryptic clues and unanswered questions.
The true danger, however, materializes in Oliver an obsessive, territorial, and "beautifully unhinged" man who has been Emory's shadow for years, watching from the periphery of her life. As Emory delves deeper into the mystery surrounding her sister's disappearance, she finds herself caught in Oliver's increasingly possessive web.
Addiction and Trauma
Owings handles these sensitive themes with commendable nuance, avoiding sensationalism while still delivering the raw emotion required by the genre.
Writing Style and Pacing
Owings employs a first-person narrative that effectively immerses readers in Emory's psychological state.
The author handles transitions between present action and backstory with skill. The alternating perspectives on the sisters' situations create a compelling dual narrative that maintains interest .
The "stalker" aspect is handled with particular effectiveness. Oliver's obsessive behavior is unsettling, yet there is enough character development to prevent him from becoming villain.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
• Complex, well-developed characters with authentic emotional struggles
• Skillful handling of sensitive topics like addiction and trauma
• Atmospheric setting that enhances the dark, gothic tone
• Compelling exploration of twin relationships and identity
• Tightly plotted mystery that maintains reader investment
• Authentic portrayal of dangerous obsession without glorification
Weaknesses
• The slow-burn pacing might frustrate readers seeking faster plot progression
• Certain plot twists may be predictable for seasoned romance readers
Content Warning
Owings provides clear and appropriate content warnings regarding drug use, obsession, emotional darkness, and explicit scenes. The novel is firmly intended for mature readers who appreciate dark romance themes and are comfortable with psychological thriller elements.
Conclusion
"From Dusk" establishes A.B. Owings as a promising voice in the dark romance genre. The novel successfully balances genre expectations with genuine emotional depth, creating a story that will satisfy fans of dark romance while offering substance beyond typical market offerings.
The Tragic Nights Trilogy begins with a strong, confident first installment that leaves readers eager for the subsequent books. .

This was an Indie Author Tuesday read for me, and it was quite interesting. I had the pleasure of having the author available to me for questions I had, sadly, she gave me vague answers. But it was okay because I wanted to really get into and figure the story out.

This story is categorized as a dark stalker romance. It is about twin young women who are on different paths, in my opinion. One on the "straight and narrow" the other one not so much. The not so much one is bad off. There is a bad car accident where the girls' car lands in a body of water. They are rescued and this is where the story begins. A letter comes from their estranged father and the one twin goes off because the other twin is otherwise occupied. Secrets are revealed about the twins and their family lineage, and these revelations change a lot of things in their lives. This book is part of a trilogy and I feel like book one ended on a cliffhanger. I have on good authority that A. B. Owings is currently working on book two, so stay tuned for that.

Happy Reading!

A gripping, dark romance that had me turning pages nonstop. The dual POVs, clever banter, and emotional intensity pulled me in immediately, and the spice was incredible. Emory and Evelyn’s unraveling mystery is captivating, while Oliver’s obsessive, dangerously compelling presence raises the stakes. Owings handles heavy themes with skill, creating a moody, immersive story that lingers long after you’re done. A fantastic read for fans of mature, twisted tales.

This book let me tell u, it hd me gripping the edge of my seat hollering damn or no or something every five mins. This took me on a whirlwind of emotions and had me thinking I was an investigator over here figuring out a crime fr. But that ending left me mindblown truly. I loved the multiple POVs. These sisters deserved better (Evelyn ans Emory) Oliver’s secret had me shocked.

This book was so good! The way you have 4 different points of view throughout the book! It had its ups and downs and has you wondering what’s going on! Definite page turner! She did an amazing job writing this book! Had me hooked. I love my dark romances, so reading a paranormal romance was very interesting. No regrets!

A fucking love note to all the Booktok girlies and I am here for it.
My only thing I didn't like was the occasional fourth wall break, it caused me to stumble a little but it only happened a handful of times.
That ending was heartbreaking and learning more about the Author and what inspired this story had me in tears. Great job A.B.

I felt the heartbreak. I felt the bonds. I heard the secrets whispered. This is an emotional ride. It’s dark, twisty, and full of inner truths you can’t hide from. Now I’m off to lick my wounds. But it is an absolute must read for those who like to read outside the box.

Only reason this is not four stars is because it was a little bit confusing for me with the four points of view and time jumping. The ending of this book is outstanding!! I will definitely read more from this author.
