Whale Store xoxo is one of my favourite TV series, so I decided to read the book as well. I definitely prefer the series; the addition of further social commentary and the development of Maewnam's character, as well as the relationships between Wan and her family/community, really contributed to the special, cozy feeling of the TV show that I have never seen in anything else. I also LOVED how Tonmai was changed to a woman in the series, it contributed so much to why the series is so special to me. Also I read this in English translation, which may have removed some of the author's flair and personal writing style, which I do want to take into account. However, the writing was not bad in this regardless of that. It was very simple and easy to understand, which is not bad in a cozy rom-com like this. I actually felt very invested in the storyline and really fell in love with the characters despite them being a bit different from the Wanmaewnam I have known from the series. I also appreciate that they didn't give Manmook a complete redemption in the book; it felt more realistic, especially considering Wan's unresolved issues with her. I also thought the explanations behind their names were so endearing and sweet. The incorporation of Wan's father giving Maewnam her nickname so they would match was just such a cute detail. Overall, really cute story that Milklove really brought to life <3
