An ornately designed volume featuring the award-winning scripts behind The Last of Us games, written by Neil Druckmann and Halley Gross!
Join Joel and Ellie from the very beginning of their unforgettable journey. Relive every climactic moment from The Last of Us Part I, from the duo’s time with Tess in Boston, to Ellie’s joy while petting giraffes, to Joel’s heart-wrenching decision at the Fireflies’ hospital. And dive into The Last of Us Part II’s dual-perspective story, including Abby’s shocking introduction to the story, Ellie and Dina forging a bond together, an enthralling encounter with the Rat King, and the final showdown between Ellie and Abby.
This volume contains the script from both The Last of Us Part I and The Last of Us Part II, as well as the DLC, Left Behind, so you can experience every bottle thrown, every bad pun of Ellie’s, and every heart-pounding encounter with the Infected in a totally new way. Much like Savage Starlight was to Ellie, The Last of Part I and Part II Scripts is a must-have for any fan’s bookshelf (or survival kit).

i KNOW my friends are tired of hearing me say this but the last of us part 2 is the greatest story ever written in the history of the written word. what else can i say. this is perfect. i cried. i smiled. i heard ashley johnson’s voice in my head and had to close my eyes and get real serious about her delivery’s impact on her character and the story at large. you can’t be better than this. i’m sorry you just can’t.
I am a huge fan of the TLOU universe and it was pretty obvious that I will adore reading the original scripts to both games. The structure is classic for the script and it was easy to read. I love additional details that were not added to the game. Adore the cordyceps on pages and spend great time reading familiar scenes. Great edition for a gamer
I love The Last of Us Parts I and II. They are both some of my favorite games of all time. This review is not a critique of their stories as this would not be the medium one should first experience them in. That being said, for people who are going to read this, this collection of scripts works better as a collectors item than as a thing to actually read.
This mostly comes down to how they treat scenes that happen during gameplay. A lot of relatively important conversations that happen during regular gameplay are reduced to summary. A lot of these could have been included because some scenes, like the giraffe scene from Part I, are included with mixed script and gameplay summary. They claim that the summaries are for narrative clarity, but removing most of these gameplay conversations actually makes the narrative less clear and affects the pace. Reading the scripts was always going to be a shorter experience than the games, but these summarizations almost make this feel like a TLOU abridged at times. I'm not asking for a thorough description of every stealth encounter or bottle throw, but none of Ellie's puns from Part I made it into this print edition. They basically removed every walk and talk conversation that Naughty Dog games are known for. I know these scenes had to have been written out. They should have been included in the printed version.
On top of this, (although this could be a problem exclusive to me) there are a ton of weird formatting choices (or errors) that actually affect the clarity of the text throughout the scripts.
Regardless, The Last of Us Parts I and II are two of the greatest stories ever created. I can't help but enjoy going through these scripts and seeing them in a different format. Even with its faults, I'm happy to have this printed edition on my shelf.
The Last of Us Part II will always be the best written story ever. Every time I play it, watch a let's play, or read about it, I'm blown away. Such a bold choice but it works so well.
Read this while replaying the games. This is a story that will change you forever. The second game will especially stick with me for the rest of my life.
