Mortimer Weisinger was an American magazine and comic book editor best known for editing DC Comics' Superman during the mid-1950s to 1960s, in the Silver Age of comic books. He also co-created such features as Aquaman, Green Arrow, and Johnny Quick, served as story editor for the Adventures of Superman television series, and compiled the often-revised paperback 1001 Valuable Things You Can Get Free.

If you have ever wondered if the rumor that DC refused to hire writers if they had ever taken physics, this is the book for you. Green Arrow’s car is called the Arrowplane because it goes fast. Its most enduring feature is a catapult that propels our heroes to the battle. The best part is that sometimes they jump into the vehicle without injury, and certainly without an understanding of physics.

Almost every issue has our heroes being struck from behind, knocked unconscious and somehow managing to break free of the ropes in the nick of time. The heroes need a course in Looking Behind You During a Fight 101 and the villains need to take How to Tie Someone Up Like You Mean It 102.

It’s so stupid and so fun. It’s the book to read to remind you how far the genre has evolved.

I am so glad I found it on Facebook Marketplace. If I had paid full price, I would probably not enjoyed it as much as I did.
