Steve Burge is from Portsmouth in southern England and now lives in Atlanta in the US.

Between leaving England and arriving in the US, there were a few stops in between, including Wales, Mexico, Japan and Australia. Steve paid for his travels by working as a teacher and a web designer.

Steve now combines teaching and web design by running OSTraining.com which teaches people how to build websites. OSTraining clients include Apple, Pfizer and the U.S. Departments of Energy, Education and Commerce.

Steve has published two books: Joomla Explained and Drupal 7 Explained. More are coming including Joomla 3 Explained, Drupal 8 Explained and WordPress Explained.

* Being a seasoned programmer, I'm new to creating web pages; however, I've heard the word Joomla! alot and I'm in the thick of a WordPress/Joomla!/Drupal survey, so...
* < explained > does a wonderful job of showing a new user like myself what Joomla! 3 is all about. From cover to cover the reader is given a plain vanilla template and turns it into a professional-looking web site.
* This is the type of book that you'll set set next to your keyboard, walk thru the lessons, then hand off to your best friend.
* I must note that this books predecessor The Official Joomla! Book is an OK handbook for pre-development planning (Apache Server setup, etc.) but < explained > is the volume where you find the meat-and-potatoes.

Basic Joomla book, reasonably laid out, easy to follow. It was helpful to scan through it, I picked some new details on menus.
