Hooking Up With a Rockstar: An Opposites Attract Romance (Soulmates Book 2) by Kitt Henley is a sizzling, emotionally satisfying novella that absolutely delivered for me.
What it’s about (brief):
June, a fiercely independent club manager, tries to keep her distance from Anthony—the rockstar whose magnetic charm once lit up her world. They had a steamy fling years ago, but when his band tours across the globe, “forgetting him” was supposed to be her goal. Only … his postcards (and his return) make that impossible. When he shows up to play at her club, the tension reignites, guarded hearts crack, and they have just three nights to navigate desire, healing, and trust. There’s a hometown show, a secret song, and a dangerously close, compromising position.
What I loved (and what held me, a little):
Chemistry + Conflict: June and Anthony’s dynamic is electric. Their friction, hesitation, and mutual pull kept me glued. That “he falls first, she hides her feelings” trope was handled with spice and heart.
Pacing & structure: For a novella, the story doesn’t drag. The limited time frame (three nights) lends urgency, and I appreciated that it still felt emotionally layered—there’s growth, longing, and stakes, not just steam.
Spice done right: The heat scenes are bold but grounded in their emotional connection—never gratuitous. The romance feels earned.
Voice & tone: Henley writes with warmth, wit, and honest emotion. Dialogue feels natural, and the balance of light moments and heavier ones keeps the ride smooth.
Minor quibbles:
Anthony is so devoted to June that occasionally I wished for more breadth in his personality. Beyond the romance, I wanted to see more facets of him. (Though I understand that in a novella there’s limited space.)
Early on, I got slightly tripped up by a few timeline details—especially around June’s job and how the postcards fit into the travel sequence. Nothing that derailed me, but enough to pause me momentarily.
Verdict:
This was a hit from start to finish. June and Anthony brought the heart, the heat, and the happily-ever-after I was rooting for. I couldn’t look away. If you love opposites-attract meets rockstar romance, this checks all the boxes—and then some.

I read this one a few weeks ago and then life got in the way. Finally getting around to doing my review….
Hooking Up with a Rockstar is a captivating and emotionally charged rockstar romance that delivers both heart and heat in equal measure. Kitt Henley crafts a well-paced novella filled with genuine chemistry, emotional depth, and a satisfying happily ever after.
The story follows June Vitali, a determined and fiercely independent club manager, and Anthony Von Essen, a charming, down-to-earth rockstar who has never stopped thinking about her. Former coworkers and friends, they shared an unforgettable one-night connection before Anthony left on tour. While Anthony wanted more, June kept her distance, unwilling to risk her heart. When fate brings Anthony’s band back to her club in Chicago for a three-night gig, their chemistry reignites—and this time, neither can deny what’s between them.
Despite the novella’s shorter length, the pacing feels natural, and the emotional stakes are well developed. The banter between June and Anthony is playful and engaging, the romantic tension sizzles from the start, and the moments of vulnerability feel authentic. I especially appreciated that Anthony, a true cinnamon-roll hero, remained patient and persistent without ever crossing boundaries, and that June’s journey toward emotional openness felt believable and hard-earned.

Admitting to Love
This was a fantastic rock romance even when June was trying to guard her heart all along almost destroying everything. She and Anthony had worked together and had an intense one night just before he was to leave on tour. He couldn’t get her off his mind and she was so busy trying make sure she didn’t fall for him. He did everything to try to keep in touch with June so when he rolls into town again and is going to be performing at the club she works at, they rekindle their old feelings.
I loved Anthony and was hoping they both could find their HEA. I cannot wait to see what this author has coming next.

As a huge fan of the rockstar romance trope🎸, I had high hopes for this novella, and Kitt Henley did not disappoint.
The story's strength lies in the absolutely fantastic dynamic between June and Anthony. I was completely invested in their rekindled connection and found myself rooting for them every step of the way. For a novella, the pacing was fantastic; it was a quick read that still felt developed and emotionally satisfying. And, for those who appreciate it, the spice was perfectly integrated into their relationship and definitely on point🔥🌶️.
I wish Anthony's character had been explored a bit more deeply outside of his relationship with June. His personality seemed almost entirely defined by his love for her, and while wonderfully romantic, it left me wanting to know more about him. I recognize, of course, that building out character traits is a significant challenge within the constraints of a novella, so this is a minor point in an otherwise very strong story. I also found myself briefly puzzled by a couple of minor inconsistencies at the very start (specifically around June's job and the postcard timeline), but they were small details that I was able to move past quickly.
All in all, this was a genuinely good read that I enjoyed immensely✨. The core romance is compelling, steamy, and heartfelt. I can't wait to see what else Kitt Henley has in store for us.

And honestly? The SPICE delivers. It’s sensual, intimate, and laced with so much longing that even a glance feels like foreplay.
June is a force—smart, stubborn, and determined to keep her heart wrapped in barbed wire. Her fears make sense, her hesitation is human, and her vulnerability hits hard. Anthony, meanwhile, is the sweetest surprise of the book. He’s got the stage presence of a rock god but the heart of a man who loves deeply and without ego. I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet and spicy rock star romance by an author who was new to me, featuring a cinnamon roll rockstar hero who falls first and hard and a commitment-phobic heroine who falls despite it.

Anthony, the frontman for The Lost Souls, is every inch the rockstar—gorgeous, talented, and surprisingly down-to-earth. He’s not the typical love-’em-and-leave-’em type. He’s sensitive, caring, and genuinely good. He and June were close friends, but one night a year ago, everything changed. After that night, June ghosted him… and now he’s back in town.
Can Anthony convince June that his feelings are real, that he’s not going anywhere without her, and that she feels the same way too?

This is such a great entertaining read that will have you rooted to your seat until the last word. This is a opposites attrack/second choice romance story. June - a club manager- and Anthony shared an unforgettable steamy fling in the past, but he went on tour, and she vowed to forget him. But he has made sure to always send her postcards to reminder that he has not forgotten her. When he comes back to town for a 3 day stop, he looks to rekindle the romance, and oh!! you are going to laugh, swoon, and gasp when you see them close together.
The plot is fast paced wtih mature characters, and very focused on their relationship. HE is your dream book boyfriend, she is strong and guarded, but their chemistry is sizzling. You have to pick up the book to see how they resolve their issues, but trust me is so worth it!.

First of all, can I say how much I love Anthony? He's a hot rockstar who could have any girl he wants but his heart belongs only to June. June has seen first hand what happens when a relationship falls apart and wants nothing to do with relationships or commitment but she didn't count on Anthony's persistence or the truth hidden deep in her own heart. I really enjoyed this engaging, heartwarming romance. It's a great read and I was thoroughly invested in the outcome.

This was a great story about 2 people who were great friends, raised differently and their lives going in different directions. The fmc thought she knew what she wanted, because of a recent hurt so she kept the mmc at arms length and tried to keep her emotions shut off. The mmc was just crushed pretty much the whole time I feel like and I wish that she had to work a bit harder for him. But good story all around!

She was too scared. Then comes in Anthony. Anthony and June have known each other for a while. They both worked together as bartenders in the same club.
Anthony has always had a thing for June. June has always been attracted to Anthony.
I’ve got to say that June is beautifully crafted. I can’t help but understand where she’s coming from as a child of divorce myself, but I guess in this day and age most of us are. I feel like I could put myself in her shoes and know exactly where her fear is coming from.
This story broke my heart in so many ways. But in such a good way. I won’t give too much more away but of course it’s got a beautiful HEA. Totally recommend 10 out of 10. Oh and don’t miss the bonus on the website.

I'm enjoying this series and the rockstars in this world. June and Anthony have a history of friendship, a closeness that pulled me right in to their story. I love second chances, and this time they have a limited time to fight those feelings, knock down walls, and handle those intense sparks! I love the heart, the sweetness, and the little things that really show how deep that connection goes. I'm ready for more from this series!
