This book does a difficult thing (deep diving into the language and theory of an ancient Japanese teaching methodology) in a seemingly effortless way. Simple in it's structure, yet profound in the information it conveys, SHU HA RI is a must read for anyone wanting clarity on a tried and true approach to teaching and apprenticeship. A great resource for teachers, but also anyone interested in learning how to honor the teachings of precious masters while respectfully forging ahead. A much needed read at a time when stealing content from struggling artists for the sake of capital gain has become the norm. Cite your sources. Respect the work of those who came before you. This book is the guide.
