This book picked up where book 1, "This Paper World" left off. In my opinion it was better than the first book. It kept me engaged practically the whole time. At times I couldn't put it down. There are a couple of new characters introduced and you will find yourself running a gambut of emotions from affection, hatred, skepticism, and a blossoming love. I won't tell you which emotions go with which character because that would spoil your own reading pleasure, and it definitely was a pleasure.
Again, Jim makes some frustrating choices that left me wanting to smack him upside his head, but that's what kept me coming back for more because I have faith that he will eventually redeem himself. I had to put the book down when I was 99% finished to wipe the tears out of my eyes. I love a book that brings me to tears, knowing that it has touched me at a deeper level of emotion than just a enjoyable read would, thus a great book in my opinion. I want to say so much more, but it really would spoil it for you, so my best advice is that if you enjoyed the first book you will love this one!
Now, how long until the next book comes out? I really, really can't get enough of this series!

I want to be a Champion! These books are soooo good, I can't wait for the next! Chock full of drama, action, suspense, and awesome battles between super powered heroes and villains. We met new characters, Jim faced new obstacles, and a good time was had by all. I don't want to give away any spoilers but I have to say, I laughed, I cried, I cheered, and I felt the love that went into this book. Thanks again Jeff!

A pretty riveting read throughout, but a disappointing ending with zero closure to the story tainted my overall impression of this book.

This second book in The Champion Saga is filled with just as much action-packed suspense, terror, and loss as the first book. Thankfully, my anxiety level remained lower, unlike the first book.

Jim has come to terms with who he is. Champions are not clones; each has his or her own skill set. Essentially a toddler in the Champion world, Jim now needs to learn more about himself and his own abilities. Summer break has arrived. Training commences. The question is, will this young Champion complete his training?

Ford is a complicated character. As in real life, our actions mold us into who we are. Ford is an evil being of his own making. He associates with Spoilers but is not one himself. He welcomes the young spirit guiding him towards safety. He is blood-thirsty but knows the value of remaining on good terms with certain associates.

We are introduced to a third type of being. A neutral party who wishes to remain separated from both Champion and Spoiler alike. They wish to be free to use their gifts as they see fit. Forcing these beings to use their abilities always results in self-hatred and loathing beyond anything a person could imagine.

This book brought closure to many previous questions, hinted at answers to others, and then raised a whole new set of jaw-dropping WHAT JUST HAPPENED??? I’m ready for book three!!

This Burning World is the second in The Champion Saga and picks up where This Paper World left off. It's a rare occasion that I like the second in a series better than the first, but this impossible to put down tale had me from the very beginning. Jim Hunt has accepted his role as a Champion, but there's still so much he doesn't know or understand. Of course, as with any good adventure, tragedy strikes before he has time to learn everything he needs to know and he's off and running. This one has everything that a great action/adventure should have - heart pounding action, tragedy, a race for justice, secrets, a hint at possible romance, a lovable hero who makes a reader want to shake some sense into him and hug him (sometimes simultaneously), and a mind-blowing ending that left me wanting more. It does end with a bit of a cliffy and we all know how frustrating those can be, but I still loved the book and will certainly be anxiously awaiting the next part of Jim's story.

I am not liberal with 5 stars, you all know this? But this book, this adventure of good over evil? Super hero Champions vs Spoilers in real word time. A young champion finds himself bound for vengeance against an ancient evil.. no spoilers but I’m remiss that I didn’t read the first book in the series.. this book was a beautiful gift from the author, but I need more! Willow the healer? Yes please! Read this series immediately!

Champion

2nd book in the series, love the characters. Don't, like cliffhangers though. Still want to read the series but may wait for the whole series to come out first.
