Scully the Cat is a rhyming story about a mischievous cat who loves to bring his family presents. His attempt at the ultimate present results in ultimate disaster.
Can one little cat really cause so much trouble? When Scully starts to bring home presents, his family are delighted. The more he brings, the more they praise him. When Scully hears a bird singing, he decides that he must have it – and nearly destroys the town in the process.
This rhyming story is easy for young children to follow. Older children will enjoy reading it by themselves. The delightful illustrations by AT Davidson bring the story to life.
This was a thoroughly lovely story of little Scully the Cat. The author has done really well using prose and rhyming (and repetition) which will be great for early readers, and wonderful for parents to engage their children.
Scully has the best intentions, but unfortunately lands himself into trouble trying to get a bird for his owners. What he does learn is that its about the gesture not the gift - and so this story has a lovely message.
I would love to see this in paperback, as the pictures were difficult to see on my kindle... and I can imagine the colours would be even more vivid on paper.
Children love books that rhythm. Scully the Cat is a cute rhythming book about gift giving. It can be used as a simple lesson for kids on the important things to think about when you give a gift. Colorful and cute illustrations.
