What if reflections had a life of their own? Orion Larsen is ready to bring the school championship cup home when he notices his reflection acting strange. It fails to show up…twice. With just a touch, Orion is sucked into a world beyond the mirror. A world that is called; The Mirror Dimension. He must navigate through this strange and new world, and with the help of his very own reflection, he may just be able to find a way back home. But things start to leak. Those who once he called friends are now standing on the other side and Orion have no choice but to become hostile. Keep his distance. And then when his identity is revealed in front of the public, when his face is plastered on papers and his name is on every lip, he has no choice but to flee. Orion is standard in a new city. He is told to stay under the radar until the matter dissolves itself but strange disappearances start to occur. Orion assumes it is because of him and embarks on a new mission to find those who are lost. In this new journey, he may make the front cover with a new headline. And for the first time, he doesn’t care.
The concept for this book felt fresh & different. It had that element of uniqueness that immediately grabs your attention & keeps you curious about how everything will unfold. I really appreciated the creativity behind the idea & how the story leaned into something unfamiliar. The world building & character development were also quite commendable, you could clearly see the effort put into shaping both 🪞
That said, there were quite a few loopholes that I couldn’t ignore, especially when it came to the core concept of reflections & how everything functioned around them. At times, it didn’t feel fully thought through & certain aspects lacked clarity or consistency ✨
For a debut, though, this is genuinely impressive & shows a lot of promise. You can clearly see the effort, imagination & ambition behind the story, which makes it stand out despite its flaws. The author has a strong creative vision, & that’s something that can’t be overlooked. It makes me really curious to see how their writing evolves in future works 👏🏼
