Janice and Curt met in college, but their brief, budding relationship was sabotaged by a jealous woman who wanted Curt for herself. Now, years later they meet again but things have changed. Curt parlayed his successful NBA career into a coaching position with the Detroit Pistons which mean a move to Michigan and a new house. Janice took her college degrees and put them to good use as a interior designer with one of the top studios in Michigan. Curt's cousin brought the two of them together so Janice could make the mansion into a home. But Curt's attitude towards Janice might bring everything to a halt. Once he finds out that everything he was told in college was a lie, he feels horrible about the cavalier way he's been treating Janice and resolves to make it up to her. He asks her out, but she refuses. So he embarks on a romantic courtship of the single mom. He's aided by her three intrepid adopted children who think that Curt would be a perfect husband for their mommy and a perfect dad for them. He slowly breaks down the wall around Janice and they not only begin dating, they fall in love. He gives her a magnificent engagement ring which she gladly accepts. Everything is going along perfectly until some really huge lies come out concerning Curt. Janice tries to be supportive and not believe anything that had been said about him and another woman and it works. Until the woman in question comes to Janice office and reiterates the lies to her face. In light of all that's gone on, the couple decides to put the engagement on the back burner for now, but it cause both of them a lot of pain. It doesn't seem as though Janice and Curt will have a "happily-ever-after". With the intervention of some rather unusual Cupids, their love gets back on track. They waited a long time for love, but the love was definitely worth the wait.

The Good
I am a sucker for school crushes, fast forward to years later stories. They never get old to me. I actually read this story a long time ago back on 2005 I think, reading it now I still like it. Janice and Curt met in school, something went wrong and they both thought the other was to blame. Fast forward to years later, Curt is a rich basket ball player turned coach and Janice has her business. This isn't a hardcore story but it was so sweet to me and I loved it. The kids also where an added bonus.
The Bad
This was apart of a 3 in 1 story, now the author has it as a stand alone so it would be considered a novella. I think the price for this novella was too outrageous.
The story itself I enjoyed, but the repeated issue with the grammar and wording (odd order). It just did not fell like the work of Schuster. I have read several of her books and this one left me wondering. Where? Who? When did the editing take place.
This is the first book that I’ve read by this author. I can’t recommend it to others. The story line was ok but the writing was almost childish. It’s how the main characters spoke to one another. The word choice used was of another day. There was no real depth. There was a cliff hangar but it felt very contrived and didn’t make much sense. I’ve read other reviews that mentioned that this book was an outlier to what this author normally produces. I will read something else by her and hope that it’ll be better.
Melanie Schuster has done it again! What are the odds that Curt and Janice meet again after a bombed relationship in college? Fast forward 10 years later interior designer Janice meets new client basketball superstar Curt and the sparks fly! This is great story I hope there's a sequel in the near future! Love it!
Curt and Janice were separated from each other because of a lie. A second lie almost caused the same mistake to happen again. But as always, love prevailed. Plus you get to me a character in one of the Cochran/Devearux series.
