Talk about riveting!!!!! Run for Her Life is the second book in the Zoe Storm series and it is fantastic! I loved the tension, the dread, the fast pace, and the investigation work! This book kept me on the edge of my seat and turning the pages! Whew! This book was thrilling, shocking, and overflowing with secrets, twists, and reveals. This book is told through past and present timelines. Usually when there are two different timeliness, I prefer one over the other, but I enjoyed both equally in Run for Her Life.

Special Agent Zoe Storm received a lock of a woman's hair with an ominous note pointing to a young mom in Pineview Falls. Days later a body of a young woman is found in the woods. Does the hair belong to the victim? Nope! That is not a spoiler, it is in the book's description. When DNA analysis points to a victim who died in a fire year ago, Zoe is beyond shocked at the revelation. Just when Zoe is puzzling over that, another woman is missing!!!!

Zoe has a lot of work to do in this book, and I was with her every step of the way. I tried to do my best super sleuthing while reading and tried to nail down whodunit. I was not successful, and I love it when that happens. Run for Her Life was equal parts shocking, thrilling, mysterious, chilling, and captivating. I was fully invested and felt as if I was tagging along with Zoe as a silent observer as she worked on this case.

Another solid book in the series! I look forward to reading what comes next in this riveting and hard to put down series! As with the first book in the series, Run for Her Life was well thought out, wonderfully written, gripping, and shocking.

Special Agent Zoe Storm was horrified when a lock of hair, along with a poem, was sent to her at the FBI office, telling of a Pineview Falls missing woman. It wasn't long before she was on her way to the town, with Dr Adrien Wesley, psychologist, along to assist. When they arrived in the small town, with Sheriff Lisa Gray well over her head in what was happening, they soon identified when the victim would possibly be found. The horror of what they were confronted by shook Zoe to her core!

The identity of Pineview Falls was a fire at a Fun House thirty years prior, when six teenagers died. It was always in the minds of all who remembered - was this death connected? But when another woman vanished, a friend of the person who died, Zoe was frantic. They needed to work harder and smarter. It was obvious they had a serial killer to contend with; but could they catch that person before another one went missing? And why was Zoe suddenly thinking of her past - was there a connection?

Run for Her Life is the 2nd in the Zoe Storm series by Ruhi Choudhary and it was riveting! Fast paced, plenty of twists; all my guesses were wrong! I enjoy Zoe's character, apart from the constant risks she takes, and the "go it alone" mentality she has! It's turning into a great series, and I'm looking forward to #3 already. Highly recommended.

With thanks to NetGalley & Bookouture for my digital ARC to read and review.

Run for Her Life drops you straight into that heart-pounding, wrong-place-wrong-moment tension that Ruhi Choudhary excels at. From the opening scene to the final pages, the story moves with the kind of urgency that makes you think “just one more chapter” (which is a lie every time). This second Zoe Storm installment leans into dread, momentum, and the sense that danger is getting closer, whether you’re ready or not. Told through both past and present timelines, the book never lets the reader settle. Every shift adds another layer of unease.

Zoe Storm continues to be a highlight of this series. She’s sharp and relentless, but there’s a vulnerable side to her that Choudhary pulls into focus even more here. Her connection to the case is unsettling in a way that feels personal without turning melodramatic, and watching her push forward while carrying the weight of old trauma makes her easy to root for. It’s a genuinely strong follow-up to The Hanging Dolls. Zoe’s character deepens, the stakes climb, and the emotional threads feel tighter than in the first book.

Plot-wise, this is a fast-moving read. There’s a missing woman, DNA that doesn’t match what it should, and a trail that keeps twisting just as you think you might be catching up. The pacing is brisk, the chapters are punchy, and the dread builds in a steady hum rather than cheap jump-scares. Plenty of twists—earned, surprising, and dropped in with enough control that you never feel manipulated.

Overall, Run for Her Life is a tense, addictive read that solidifies the Zoe Storm series as one worth sticking with. It’s entertaining, quick to consume, and leaves you with that familiar post-thriller daze. If you enjoy high-stakes crime fiction with emotional punch and characters who refuse to look away even when the past comes roaring back, you’ll tear through this one.

“she knew his address now. She’d just have to corner him at night with no witnesses around”

Thrilling, chilling & many past secrets uncovered. So many twists and turns. This book was fantastic.

I loved the past and present POV and the learning and unlearning of past and present self.

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat with an impending anxious state.

The ending gave me CHILLS! Sequel???

The second in the SA Zoe Storm series, Run For Her Life was an easy five star read for me.

I found myself immersed quickly into the plot...the lock of hair and the message Zoe received had my interest well and truly piqued...I needed to know more...

It's fast, dark and tensions are well and truly frayed. The shocks shocked, and the characters had me engaged from beginning to end.

Roll on Book Three...

Special Agent Zoe Storm is back, and this time the stakes feel even higher. From the chilling opening scene in the woods to the shocking twists that unfold, this book had me completely hooked. The pacing is tight — there’s never a dull moment — yet the story still manages to feel deeply personal as Zoe faces her own past while tracking a ruthless killer.

I loved the mix of police procedural detail and emotional depth. The investigation feels authentic and smart, and the chemistry within Zoe’s team adds warmth and realism. It’s great to see the characters continue to grow and evolve — their dynamics make the darker moments even more powerful.

The plot itself is a true page-turner: layered, suspenseful, and filled with surprises that kept me guessing until the end. And when I reached the last page, I immediately wanted more.

✅My thoughts:
This is the second book in the Zoe Storm series. Zoe Storm is a very complex lady. Her past history plays a big part in who she is and what she does.
Run for Her Life has Zoe hunting down a killer who likes to send notes/riddles that Zoe finds hard to figure out. She is determined to find out what is going on. There are two men in her life that support her as much as she will let them.
The story is action packed and full of secrets with lots of suspenseful moments.
I do have to say the amount of characters in the story was a bit overwhelming to keep track of.
Perfect series for fans of crime procedurals.
I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series. I am hoping to see more going on with Zoe’s personal life.
All opinions expressed are my own.

Run for Her life By Ruhi Choudhary is the second Zoe Storm book. Zoe is an FBI agent and has her own agenda as well. Years before he mother, Rachel, had been murdered. Per her mother’s instructions, she cleaned up and the death was presented as a suicide. Now Zoe wanted know. She had made some inroads but not enough. She and Dr Aiden Wesley, her sometime partner, were sent to Pineview Falls to investigate a possible missing person, based on a poem Zoe had received in the mail. Sadly, they found the body by following the clues from the poem. The more they investigated, the more convoluted this became. It appeared somehow connected to a fire that had killed six teenagers, thirty years earlier. And maybe a local tech giant. But, how? Meanwhile, Lisa Gray, the sheriff in the small community, is balancing a murder, an investigation for which she is totally out of her depth, and her failed efforts to become pregnant. All of these folks have plenty of baggage.

Zoe is a good character. She attempts to be positive and cheerful all the time, which she really is, sometimes. Searching for Rachel’s murderer weighs on her as does Aiden’s constant presence, always trying to ferret out her secrets. Then there is Simon, her boss and ex-lover, who is currently separated from his wife. All too much some days. She is a complex character and as such, intriguing. Aiden is, too. His wife was dead and he was still at loose ends. Then there was another murder, but something was different. This was a convoluted mystery, compounded with Zoe’s other problems. A little frantic, but enjoyable.

Run for Her Life by Ruhi Choudhary is the second book in the Zoe Storm series, bringing FBI Agent Zoe back into the spotlight with a new and deeply personal case.

The story begins with a disturbing delivery—a lock of hair and a cryptic note—that quickly ties into the murder of a young mother and the disappearance of another woman in Pineview Falls. As Zoe investigates, connections emerge to a decades-old fire that claimed the lives of several teenagers, a tragedy that may not have been accidental after all. The deeper she digs, the more the past collides with the present, forcing Zoe to confront secrets she’s been running from.

While the premise is gripping and the tension builds effectively, I found this installment slower than the first book in the series. The frequent jumps between past and present, though meant to add depth, sometimes interrupted the flow and left me feeling a bit disconnected. Certain characters, particularly Lisa, were difficult to empathize with, and at times I felt frustrated by their choices.

That said, Zoe herself remains a strong and complex lead, and her partnership with Aiden continues to be a highlight. The final act pulls everything together with twists that land well, and the ending sets up the series nicely for what’s to come.

Overall, Run for Her Life has plenty of suspense and an intriguing mystery at its core, but it didn’t quite reach the impact of the first book for me. Still, fans of dark, character-driven thrillers will find plenty here to enjoy, and Zoe Storm’s journey is one I’m curious to follow.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Do you always tell everything to everyone, or do you keep certain things locked away in your mind? I think everyone keeps some things to themselves, usually smaller matters that you’re embarrassed about or find too personal to share. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. But the things Zoe keeps hidden are on a completely different level.

In the first book, we were introduced to her, and I really liked her personality. I love police officers who don’t always color inside the lines, but only when it’s to do the right thing—even if their actions technically cross the line. Vigilantes are the ones who make the world a bit better and safer in their own way.

Zoe also has other issues weighing on her, deeply personal matters. She wants to dig into them to the very bottom, even at the risk of putting herself in life-threatening situations.

Fortunately, the author chose to explain some of what happened in Zoe’s past in book one, and I was quite shocked. At the same time, I thought it was brilliantly done.

The case Zoe deals with now hits hard as well. Once again, it confronts you with what people are capable of, how they can be manipulated, and how far they will go. Creepy, really.

But, of course, situations like these make the perfect foundation for writing really good books.

The only thing I struggled with a little was that I didn’t quite get into it at the very beginning. I was a bit confused, but once I understood who was who—and that didn’t take long—I got swept up in the story and was completely engaged. Hence, a solid 4.5 stars.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

Good parts:

This is the first book I have read of this author. The premise is good and it starts off with a bang. The lead is Zoe who comes out as an intelligent enough detective who is traumatized by her moms death. She then gets involved in a case. The plot is vast but the speed is slow. The twists are good. Really subverting your expectations. The whole "little town still recovering from the collective trauma" is really well done which is what confuses me about the rest of the book.

Bad parts:

The vibe of the book doesn't match with the events happening.

The lines are unnecessarily descriptive. I don't want to know of Saliva is pooling in the detectives mouth. And such things happen only to the women character! Men characters are surprisingly well written. Hard to imagine that this was written by a woman.

The story sometimes is pin pointed while at other times it feels more of a romcom without the com.

Also what's up with calling mom by her first name? Zoe always says rachel rachel as if rachel was her elder sister! Sure it would make sense if the mom eas established as an abuser (but this is the 2nd book and it doesn't give a gist of what happened in the first book in the first chapter)

Or maybe I misunderstood the entire story or I was not the intended demographic.

Run For Your Life (Aiden–Zoe Storm #2) by Ruhi Choudhary

This sequel shows strong growth from the first book. The characters are well-developed, and Zoe’s investigation into her mother’s past — Rachel (real name Celine) and her connection to the Red Tiger organization — adds emotional depth. The story balances uncovering family secrets and tracking the killer, keeping the plot engaging throughout.

The planning of crimes, kidnappings, and murders is more deliberate and intricate than in the first book. Returning to Lakemore to explore Zoe’s stepbrother’s story ties the narrative together effectively. Each victim’s unique poem adds symbolic and artistic depth, giving the story a signature touch. The prologue, epilogue, and extra chapters provide closure while building anticipation for the next book.

Zoe and Aiden’s relationship evolves naturally and is a highlight, while minor areas like Dawn and David’s relationship, Aiden’s quick discovery of Annabella’s burial, and Jim’s mental disorientation could be explored more. Small consistency issues, such as Michael’s role with Jackie, could also be refined.

Overall, Run For Your Life is a compelling continuation of the Zoe Storm series. With tighter plotting, richer emotional stakes, and memorable symbolic touches, it leaves readers eager for the next installment.

’For Zoe, pain was a quick fix without a drug.’

I’m a big fan of getting into the first book of a series, so before diving into this one, I read The Hanging Dolls. This decision led me to discover two things. First, Zoe’s work ethic is exceptional. Second, she’s haunted by demons that relentlessly pursue her. Despite her unwavering dedication to her victims, Zoe is still tormented by the memory of her mother’s murder, which consumes her. However, she manages to compartmentalize enough to find the perpetrators responsible for causing harm, as she intends to do in her current case.

This story goes deep. The discovery of a woman’s body in the woods seems to have an eerie connection to a tragic case from years ago when six young people tragically lost their lives in a fire. Zoe is determined to uncover the link between these two cases and bring justice to every single victim.

Meanwhile, for this case and her previous case, Zoe is trailed by a discerning FBI psychologist, Dr. Aiden Wesley. While he acknowledges her strengths, he is concerned about her intense drive. Meanwhile, the reader will no doubt definitely feel the tension plaguing Zoe, especially as her past slowly begins to make sense to her. I can’t wait for book three in this series.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

An FBI agent with a complicated and traumatic past, a penchant for underground fights and has caught the attention of a murderer.

A murder in a small town leads to another, a kidnapping, and the murky details of a multi-victim disaster 20 years before seem to link them together. Partnering up with the handsome psychologist isn't part of her plan but they work well together and bounce ideas of each other. Slowly they reveal some of the baggage they each carry and along the way the sparks come off them. But will they actually become more than partners in crime solving?

There are two time lines within the story, that dealing with the initial aftermath of the fire and the early childhood of Zoe and the current timeline with her solving the murders. I was really interested in the characters who didn't capture your support, such as Lisa. They were unappealing victims and witnesses and did nothing to really snag your support. I found myself quite relishing their downfall in all honesty.

Zoe and Aiden were supportive colleagues, with that smidgen of attraction showing - unwanted as it may be at times. Zoe is complicated, intelligent, empathetic but had some rough edges that you wanted to soften for her. Aiden is sensible, strong and determined and can see through the façade that Zoe puts on which others accept.

There is plenty to keep you interested and I'm really invested in seeing where Zoe goes from here.

Run for Her Life is the second book in the Zoe Storm series by Ruhi Choudhary. It presents an intriguing premise with its mix of suspense and personal stakes.

The story follows Special Agent Zoe Storm as she investigates the mysterious death of a young woman, connecting it to a series of chilling events that reveal a darker side of her past. The author's writing captures the urgency of Zoe's race against time, and the initial setup is engaging. The plot twists did keep me guessing, and Zoe's character development adds depth to the narrative as she confronts her own history. However, while the pacing is generally good, there are moments when the plot feels a bit overdrawn and gets repetitive and boring. About 55% into the story, I found myself just wanting to get to the end and skimming paragraphs as I was no longer invested in the story or the characters, which is unfortunate, as I loved the first book.

Overall, Run for Her Life is a good read for crime thriller fans, but it just didn't hit the mark for me. I do look forward to the next book to see what is in store for Zoe.

Before jumping into this one, I went back and read The Hanging Dolls, and I’m so glad I did because it gave me a better feel for Zoe’s character. She’s tough, driven, and completely dedicated to her work, but you can also tell she’s carrying a lot of emotional baggage from her past. That mix of strength and vulnerability is what makes her so compelling.

In this book, Zoe’s investigating the body of a woman found in the woods, which ends up tying back to a tragic fire years ago that killed six teenagers. The deeper she digs, the more intense it gets. You can feel the tension building, not just in the case, but inside Zoe herself as old wounds start resurfacing.

I liked the dynamic between Zoe and Dr. Aiden Wesley, the FBI psychologist keeping an eye on her. Their interactions add another layer to the story and give you a peek into Zoe’s mindset beyond the job.

This series is dark, emotional, and full of twists, but it also gives you those human moments that remind you why you care about these characters. It’s an intense read that pulls you in and doesn’t let go. I can't wait for book 3!

This book 📚 had me hooked right from the beginning—even though I haven’t read the first one in the series!

The story kicks off with the shocking murder 🔪 of a young mother in the small town of Pineview Falls. Special Agent Zoe and her partner, Dr. Aiden, begin their investigation… but things get complicated when Zoe receives a chilling 📩 letter from the killer along with a strand of hair. The twist? The hair doesn’t belong to the victim. 👀

From there, the story takes off with gripping twists and hidden pasts that all come together in the end. Ruhi Choudhary masterfully weaves between timelines, building suspense in a way that keeps you guessing until the very last page.

I especially loved Ruhi’s writing style—her attention to emotions and vivid scene descriptions made me feel like I was right there with the characters.

✨ If you love suspense, serial killers, and stories that keep your heart racing, this one’s definitely for you!

The second book in the Zoe Storm series and another I couldn't wait to get my hands on! Ruhi Chowdhary is an author who is well established on my author's to read list. I just hoped that Run For Her Life would be as good as the first book. It definitely was!

Zoe Storm is a character who has so many layers. Her traumatic past has made her such a determined woman. This just enhances her role as a Special Agent, while showing the dichotomy of Zoe's personality too. She is such an intriguing woman! It makes the series for me.

The storyline is one which had me glued to the book. We see the case Zoe is investigating, which is a harsh one and just shows how far some people will go. It makes it a confronting case for Zoe to deal with but she does. At the same time more of Zoe's past is revealed. This causes Zoe to have so many more questions.

Yet another dark and so gripping book! I couldn't stop turning the pages. Ruhi Chowdhary is a skilled storyteller. She knows how to keep the reader in suspense too! I am looking forward to the next instalment, so much!

Book two in the Zoe Storm series is another gripping, character-driven read. Zoe is such a complex character an impressive, strong FBI agent on one hand, and on the other, a troubled soul who seeks both to inflict and receive pain, often through the underground fights she takes part in.The storyline is strong and ties in nicely with the one we were introduced to in book one involving Zoe’s early life.

The revelations about her mother, Rachel, are shocking and add an intriguing layer to Zoe’s past, leaving her with even more questions. Aiden’s story is clearly waiting to unfold, and I’m eager to discover what he’s been holding back and trying to tell Zoe.
Ruhi Choudhary has once again crafted a dark, emotionally intense thriller. And that final line? Intriguing, chilling, and enough to make me desperate for book three to arrive sooner rather than later.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I liked the character of Zoe, a special agent, but found the plot quite confusing at first. That did get better as the book progressed and it is a point I made about a previous book by this author so typical for her writing style. The fragmented style of the first chapters and differing points of view meant that I did not really engage with the book until later on. There are a lot of characters in the book, both alive and dead and together with the events, in present and past time, I had to concentrate to sort it all out in my mind. Also cryptic clues, which added to the chaos.Once the investigation really got going, Isomething clicked and I started to enjoy the book more.
A fairly fast paced read with a lot going on. The premise was good, the writing could have been better .

Special Agent Zoe Storm is in Pineview Falls to investigate the death of a young woman. Someone had sent Zoe a lock of hair and a poetic note just days before.
The race is on to find another young woman who has been reported missing.

I am pleased that I read the first in this series a while ago. This can be read as a standalone, but I like to have the full background details on the characters and their dynamics.

Zoe is still seeking her Mother's killer, and is full of rage, despite her happy go lucky facade she puts on for the world.

The book is emotional, dark and tense. And of course the murder of Zoe's mother is not resolved.

I like this series so far, a strong female lead is my favourite.
Looking forward to the next in this nail biting series.

This is the second book in the Zoe Storm book series. I really enjoyed book 1 so was really looking forward to this one. Each book has its own unique storyline but there is also a storyline unfolding in the background from book to book so it definitely needs to be read in order. Both storylines work really well within this read and they unfolded perfectly. It’s a fast paced read that had me fully engaged from start to finish. It has quirky but such loveable characters. I’m so invested in the background storyline and can’t wait for the next instalment to see what comes next. This is a book series to definitely get on board with… Really enjoyed it.

An enjoyable read and ideal for anyone who loves a series, like I do!

Special Agent Zoe Storm receives a lock of hair with a mysterious note and soon after, a woman's body is discovered. But the hair doesn't match the victim's DNA - crazy!

Zoe is a very complex character with many demons and for that, she is partnered with Aidan, a psychologist, who I think I find as irritating as Zoe occasionally does! The plot is excellent with some unexpected and very clever twists, but I did find the pace slow in parts and I found my mind wandering and not being as invested in the story as I expected to be, but then it ramped up hugely and I was all in!

4 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Ruhi Choudhary and Bookouture, for an ARC of this book.

Loved the character of Zoe Storm – strong, layered, and so compelling! 💙

There are so many levels to Zoe Storm. An FBI agent with a past that we’re slowing starting to understand as the series goes on. She works closely with two men that have her torn between keeping her secrets and wanting more with one of them.

This one brings up a cold case of a fire that killed many teenagers. People connected to those who died in the fire are being found dead. And the FBI is being taunted by the killer. Zoe is determined to find the serial killer and figure out how it’s all connected to the fire.

I like Zoe’s character, even as I’m desperate to find out more about her past. We learn more about her mother in this one, and I would love to know more. Ruhi is doing a great job keeping me wanting more.

I am so confused. I read the book before this one and I still don’t know what is going on. So many different point of views. I will probably read the next one because there is a sort of cliffhanger.
Zoe Storm is a FBI agent and receives a note with a lock of hair attached to it. A woman has went missing in Pineview Falls and they at first think it’s her hair. Years ago six teenagers were killed in a fire and the hair belongs to one of them. They find the missing woman dead and then another goes missing. The more Zoe investigates the more it seems to be related to her deceased mother. Can they find the killer before they kill again?

Who says the second book can't be better than the first? Whomever it was is wrong! Run for Her Life gave us a further look into Zoe's past and reveals some of the secrets of her life. The story contains missing women, a small town with a dark past and the hunt for a killer. This mystery kept me second guessing myself about who the killer was.....in the end I found I had actually chosen right for once! Loved this story and can't wait for the next adventure/murder mystery with Zoe.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Ruhi Choudhary for the opportunity to listen to this ARC copy of Run for Her Life

This is the first book I have read in this series and I will be looking out for more.
A flawed but human FBI agent Zoe has a complicated past that she's trying to uncover.
A letter sent to her by a killer leads her and profiler Aiden to a small town.
The town is haunted by a tragic fire in the haunted house ride at the funfair where 5 teenagers were killed. Ruled as an accident years ago but with lots of the locals still believing it was murder.
A multi faceted story that will keep you gripped.
Enjoy I did
