Complex issues are often avoided within the church. Many times difficult questions are greeted with defensive responses, eventually leading to arguments and division within a congregation. This book offers Christians the opportunity to explore, reflect, and discuss some of these hard questions together without judgment or conflict. Not Off Limits allows the reader to think critically about some of the complex questions facing the church today without fear or discomfort. Christians must learn to see issues from various points of view as well as appreciate the genuine Christian devotion of the people with whom they differ. Not Off Limits teaches its readers to explore these issues together, since true unity cannot exist until it has weathered conflict.

This book looks at hard questions and then presents both sides of the issue without taking sides. It's your job to research it more, discuss it with others, and come to your own conclusions. There are 8 issues examined. I only read 6 of them, as I didn't feel conflicted about the other two issues.

A good study in how to discuss various biblical topics with an open mind and a good attitude. Ross generally doesn't take a position on the various controversial questions that he explores. (The questions are taken from actual questions he has received as a Bible professor at Harding University.) Rather, he presents both sides, and attempts to explain how each position was derived.

This book will be especially interesting for my friends from the Church of Christ fellowship of churches, but the principles would apply to anyone who is actively exploring biblical topics. That said, Ross doesn't supply his own answers to any of the questions. His point is to promote civil and respectful dialog while we all look together for the answers.
