They preyed on the powerless. Now the powerless prey back. They thought they were untouchable. Billionaires. Politicians. Priests. For decades, they hunted women and children, protected by money, power, and a system designed to look the other way.
Now someone is hunting them. One by one. Brutally.
Maggie runs Gomorrah. A bondage club where women once broken by powerful men learn to reclaim their bodies, their strength, their power. She rescues the trafficked and the forgotten, the ones society refuses to see. She knows what these men are capable of. She knows their faces, their secrets, their sins.
When the mutilated bodies start appearing, the DNA evidence points directly to her. She has the knowledge. The access. Every reason to want these men dead.
It only takes one victim to become the hunter.
The Book of Magdalene is a dark, unflinching thriller about power, survival, and what happens when victims stop waiting for justice. For readers of Karin Slaughter, Tana French, and Mo Hayder.
This book has all the hallmarks of a book that should be a film, in fact I would love to see it as a film. To see "Magdelene:s" characters made 3 dimensional would be amazing The story encompasses murder, mystery and the black arts. The power of womanhood is not left out which is welcomed in such a strong story (In places)..... It does take a short while to familiarise yourself with the origins of this tale but once done it's a constant read....
An amazing book! Captures you in the prologue, and keeps the suspense throughout. Extremely moving. The intensity of the emotions I felt while reading speaks well to the Ita Kennedy’s literary talent. Highly recommend!
