This book was exactly what my heart needed in this season, and the truths in it are ones my heart needs to be reminded of every single day. The questions at the end of each week created space for reflection, helping those truths sink more deeply into my heart and mind. It was both a comforting and a challenging read in the very best way. Most of all, it helped me fall more deeply in love with Jesus and reminded how He alone satisfies—today, tomorrow, and forevermore.

You Are Satisfied is a thoughtful devotional about learning to find our satisfaction in God rather than in circumstances, possessions, or the things we think will make us happy. There were quite a few things in it that I appreciated and found myself reflecting on.
One of the things that stood out to me was the emphasis on meditation. The reminder that we can read Scripture without really stopping to think about it resonated with me. I appreciated the idea that if we want to delight in God's Word, we need to spend time actually dwelling on it. The book repeatedly brings us back to God's character, His love, His faithfulness, and the importance of remembering what He has already done, especially when we are walking through a dry or difficult season.
I also particularly appreciated the distinction between lament and grumbling. We are certainly encouraged in Scripture to bring our pain, frustrations, and longings to God, but there is a difference between honestly grieving before Him and accusing Him. That was a helpful distinction, and one I found myself thinking about.
The section on suffering was another highlight for me. Looking at the cross as the ultimate example of God bringing astonishing good out of something that appeared completely senseless and horrific is a powerful encouragement. We cannot always understand what God is doing in our own suffering, but we can look at what He has already done through Christ and trust His character.
I also appreciated the discussion of Romans 5:8 and the reminder that Christ loved us while we were still sinners. We don't have to make ourselves worthy of God's love before we can receive it. That is such a precious truth, and the book expressed it in a particularly accessible way.
However, there were also some things that I found difficult. Most significantly, I did not agree with the statement that everyone who trusts in Jesus is part of the family of Israel and that the promises given to Abraham therefore simply apply to us in this way. This is an area where I would have liked considerably more theological care.
There were a few other places where I felt the application went further than the biblical text itself. Romans 8:32, for example, is used to make some very broad statements about God meeting all our needs and withholding no good thing from us. While I certainly believe in God's generous and faithful provision, I thought some of these statements needed more qualification and attention to the context of the passage.
So, while I didn't agree with everything in You Are Satisfied, I did find plenty here that was encouraging and worth pondering. I especially appreciated its call to slow down with Scripture, delight in God Himself, remember His faithfulness, and pursue godliness through knowing Him rather than looking for quick spiritual fixes.
A mixed reading for me—some genuinely beautiful and helpful reminders, alongside theological points that I couldn't quite overlook.

Look to Christ in Your Current Circumstances
Incredibly hopeful and overflowing with joy, this book is grounded in God’s Word. Kimbrel explains the texts with freshness and clarity, using relatable illustrations and practical applications.
I was most challenged by the chapter on being satisfied in God’s provision. Admittedly a very first-world problem, I struggle with being content in my job and workplace. I was exhorted not to look for the perfect job, but to look for Christ in my current circumstances, remembering the wonderful future He has in store for us. In the next chapter, I was reminded that I can find satisfaction in God’s presence—even in my workplace.
Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness
I most appreciated the “Take and Share” sections at the end of every chapter. These short challenges encourage you to take what you’ve learned and share it with someone else. Her prompts help you identify someone specific to share with.
This beautiful book will draw you closer to Christ. Come, eat and drink, and find yourself fully satisfied. As she writes, “Perhaps our satisfaction problem isn’t that God doesn’t give us what we desire, but that we need Him to reshape our desires. After all, if we hunger and thirst for righteousness, we will be satisfied.”

We live in a world that suggests multitudes of ways to satisfy ourselves, but they eventually let us down. Joanna Kimbrel suggests that the way to be truly satisfied is only found in God himself. This 8-week devotional focuses on God's word, His promises, His love, and His plan, among other topics. Too often, I make what I am learning about me, but this devotional brings the focus back to God, and it's exactly what I need. The daily format begins with a scripture suggestion to read, a focus question, and encourages reflection with questions to consider after each daily reflection. It is an awesome balance between the Word and reflection.
This book would make a great Mother's Day or birthday gift!

This was such a fresh look at the truth that we should find our ultimate satisfaction in the Lord. Every week was organized so well, steeped in deep theological truth, and rooted in Scripture. I also really appreciated the heart-probing questions at the end of each week. In this season of busy motherhood, I found each week’s reading/questions completely doable and beneficial.
This would be a great ladies’ group devotional, but it’s also accessible for personal use.

Nothing inherently wrong here. This just felt a bit too brief/lacked the substance I was looking for in a devo right now. But if you are looking for short and sweet, it was fine!
I think I prefer a shorter book with a bit longer passages, whereas this was a long book with brief passages. But the content was good!

The name kind of says it all here for this devotion. How can we truly be satisfied in this life that we've been given? The author is a great bible teacher. I was given an e- copy to review (thank you!), but plan on purchasing a hard copy.
