I am a true romantic at heart and with a modern contemporary erotic twist to my romance novels, you had better fasten your seat belt, as the ride is always fun, exciting and fiery.
Living in Las Vegas, but a mid-westerner at heart, I find plenty of inspiration for my books in my own exciting life. I have always loved the arts and as a young girl, I took dance classes and spent the summers reading books from the local library. Fascinated with the written word and its power to guide the imagination, I started writing short stories and later took Creative Writing classes in college. I graduated from The University of Iowa with a B.A. in Journalism and an M.A. in Higher Education. I also have a Teaching Credential from Chapman University in Southern California.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the novel. You can email me directly at evecarterbooks@gmail.com and if you enjoyed the book, please share your excitement with other fans of women’s erotic romance. You can write a review by clicking here: Deceived Part 1 – New York

Flirting With Destiny by Eve Carter was a book about lost loves, rediscovering who you really are & who you want to be, and of facing the demons that haunted you from your teenage years. Eve Carter writes the story of Aedyn and Lauren in a way that has the reader remembering what it was like to prove the world that the ideas they had of who you are or would be are completely wrong. This book was a 3 star read for me and I would recommend it to others.

Aedyn was the geek in high-school, pining after one of the most popular girls, Lauren but never having the courage to tell her how he felt. Finally putting himself out there he asks her to prom, but she rejects him, causing his heart to break. Aedyn graduates from high-school with memories that are bitter sweet as he is thankful to get out of the place that caused him so much pain, but he also holds much sadness as it was the last days of his mothers struggle with cancer. Leaving for the big city of Chicago, he is determined to make something of himself. His outward appearance is completely transformed into a sexy, handsome guy, that has no issues finding a woman or women to occupy his bed. He is also completely successful in his business, but it appears that something is missing. When he has to return home when his father dies to make final arrangements for he estate, he realizes the horrible memories his hometown holds for him, almost turning him back into the less than confident geeky teenager that he let behind so many years ago.

Lauren had big dreams for herself that have all seemed to fade away and remain out of reach. She has spent her life trying to portray the perfect image, and she starts to realize that the persona that others see isn't really who she wants to be. She has been with her boyfriend Chip for four years, and at the beginning of their relationship she wanted to marry him and have the perfect suburban life with him. Lately though her thoughts are sliding to all of the reasons why she shouldn't be with Chip anymore. He is completely controlling of her, demeaning to her thoughts and ideas as well as becoming increasingly bad tempered that has led him to display minor acts of violence toward her that she fears will only escalate with time. Lauren does not know a way out of the hole she has dug for herself with Chip, and she worries daily about their relationship, until he crosses paths with Aedyn one day by sheer coincidence. It is in talking to Aedyn, who really listens to her and takes her thoughts into consideration that she begins to seriously question her entire relationship with Chip.

Aedyn invites Lauren to visit him in Chicago for the weekend, so that she can get away and gather her thoughts. The invitation comes under the guise that they are old friends catching up but Aedyn finds himself wanting so much more from her. Lauren agrees to the visit and everything that transpires in that trip's aftermath leads both Aedyn and Lauren to make some decisions that they previously hadn't considered.

Aedyn left his small hometown and made it big. His father died and now he has to go back. Lauren was Aedyn’s secret crush in high school; she stayed in the small town and has been dating Chip for the last four years. A chance meeting has both of them thinking of each other. Are Lauren and Aedyn happy with their lives as they are or will they fight for what they really want deep down inside? This book started out smoking hot!!! Then it just seemed to peter out for me. Then right at the end it started to get good again and then BAM it was done.
Characters: The characters were well written and believable.
Sex: yes
Religious: no

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."

This is the first in a series of novellas, so there is no conclusion, just a ... what will happen next. It started off at a pace, introducing one of the lead characters in a maybe less than favourable light - which possibly affected my view of him thereon in. The female lead is completely the opposite - cautious, somewhat desperate, and resigned to her future. When the two meet there is a potential for change, but they faff around somewhat. Some of it was undoubtedly hot, and one scene was brilliantly written leading the reader one way and then adding a twist.

Potentially the next books could turn this around, but I wasn't entirely convinced by the characters, or their inner voices.

Aedyn Cumberland hasn't been home to Granger Iowa in a long time and even when he did visit it was only for a short period of time. Now with news his father has died Aedyn goes home to settle his affairs and get back to Chicago to his partying, work and endless one night stands. That is until he bumps into his high school crush Lauren, {may I add Aedyn was a geek and Lauren was a cheerleader} and all the feelings he thought he had buried for her have come to the surface and now all he can think about is how much he wants her. But little does he know Lauren has a boyfriend {good for nothing if you as me} but he has a temper and wants to know every little thing she does and who she is with, after an accident Lauren accepts Chip's proposal and as soon as she says yes she regrets it.
Now with a wedding to plan Aeydn makes Lauren an offer to come to Chicago for the weekend. But after a night with Aedyn she has made up her mind and has decided to...............

Will Lauren be able to choose between Aedyn or Chip?
What has got Chip all worked up about Lauren and why has he turned into such a dick?

Great book leaves you wanting more

I am dying to know what Chip is hiding from Lauren. The end just had me wanting for more. I need the next book soon. Another amazing series by Eve Carter

Eve Carter's introduction of Aedyn is so hot and steamy! Flirting with Destiny is a must read! After Aedyn sees Lauren again, old hurts and truths come out. One thing he's sure of, Aedyn will have Lauren. But will Lauren want him? Will she chose to stay in an abusive relationship or take a chance with destiny?

Poor Lauren!

Great book. Gets you hooked so you gotta 1 click the remaining books. Great characters. Chip is a total d-bag.!! Lauren has let him mentally break her and you see what is coming next. Aeyden is totally sent back to when he was in school when it comes to Lauren. Can't wait to finish the series to see if destiny really exists for Aeyden and Lauren.

Aedyn Dell Cumberland left the small backwoods town he grew up in to move to Chicago and make something of himself and he did. He owns his own management firm. Then he gets a letter from his aunt that his dad has died. He almost doesn’t go back. The man hasn’t meant anything to him since his mom was diagnosed with cancer and he decided to drink instead of being there for them. He does go back though and winds up running into his high school crush Lauren. Lauren has been dating Chuck for the last four years, although lately he has been acting differently. Lately he gets angry over the stupidest things and his temper has been worse. She is starting to get scared. When she runs into Aedyn in the sandwich shop she feels like never before. Just being around her makes her feel like she has butterflies in her stomach. She has never felt that way about Chuck. Lauren in conflicted about her feelings for Aedyn. Chuck has slowly chipped away at her confidence. She blames herself every time they get in an argument. She must have done something wrong for Chuck to act the way he does towards her. Then Lauren in involved in a car accident and Aedyn sees it happen. He calls 911 and rides with her to the hospital. He was supposed to leave and go back to Chicago but he couldn’t let her slip away again. Then Chuck comes to the hospital and proposes. Aedyn didn’t even know she had a boyfriend. Lauren now has everything she though she wanted but is it what she really wants. Reuniting with Aedyn has made her take a look at her life. Does she really want to marry Chuck and see if the abuse gets worse? Should she take a chance on Aedyn? It would turn her life upside down if she did.
I really liked this book. Chuck is a total douche bag and is obviously hiding something. The way he treats her is horrible. I feel sorry for her but at the same time I don’t. She needs to stand up for herself. She blames herself every time he has an outburst even though she didn’t really do anything wrong. Aedyn is worried about getting hurt again. He though he was over everything. But, just seeing Lauren brings all the feelings back. He is going to fight for her this time. He knows he can give her the life she deserves if she will just leave Chuck and give him a chance. This book was a little hard for me cause of the abuse. It makes me really angry when the women blame themselves instead of the men who have the real problem. I have Lauren can get away from Chuck even if she doesn’t get with Aedyn. I think she should give Aedyn a chance though. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.

My Golden Reads Review of Flirting with Destiny

I was given an ARC for an honest review.

Flirting with Destiny is the story of Lauren and Aedyn. Lauren has been with Chip for four years but lately he’s changed and not for the better. Chip gets angry easily and he has worn Lauren down and made her feel worthless. It seemed like there was something in Lauren’s past that’s keeping her with Chip and this small town of Granger, Iowa. It also seemed like Chip was doing something behind Lauren’s back that will probably get her in a lot of trouble later on.

Aedyn left Granger right after graduating high school and his mother dying. While he may have been a geek in high school, he is now a hot, handsome businessman. Aedyn has come back to settle the affairs of his father’s death and has a chance run in with Lauren at the local sandwich shop.

Immediately Lauren felt a deep connection to Aedyn. He was easy to talk to and she couldn’t keep her thoughts off him or keep him out of her dreams. The walls that Aedyn had built up after leaving Granger and the rejection of Lauren, his high school crush, came tumbling down.

When someone blasts a hole in your heart, like Lauren did to me, it tends to stay open or, at the very least leave a huge scar. So I built walls to protect himself.

Lauren started to question her future with Chip and realized that she deserved more in her life. Sparking a tiny amount of hope for wanting more.

I have mixed feelings about this story. It starts off super-hot and then you travel to Granger and view Laurens’ life. She was constantly going back and forth about what to do about Chip and her life, which is understandable, but it was a bit too much for me. I wanted her to make up here mind. Aedyn half the time, I wasn’t sure if I even liked him. He was back and forth from being a player, an asshole, and sweet to Lauren. I don’t want you to miss understand Aedyn didn’t show all that to Lauren but seeing part of this story through his eyes lets you peer into his thoughts and heart and there were times that I didn’t like what I saw.

The beginning was hot and then I was back and forth on the two characters through most of the book, and by the end, it was getting really interesting, and then it unfortunately it ended. This is a really quick read that will definitely leave you wanting more. The next book in the series is supposed to be coming out in February of 2015 so there is a little bit of a wait but the author has plenty of other books for you to read while you wait.

“Beautiful, smart, long blonde hair, cute figure…”

Aedyn Cumberland is a gorgeous successful businessman. But he wasn’t always gorgeous. In high school, he was the smarty nerdy boy that Lauren Mitchell never gave a second glance to. With the passing of his father, Aedyn has to return to the town he despises. Will he be able to go into town and get out fast or will running into his crush change everything?

As a new reader of Eve Carter, I can’t say the writing style was bad. It was good, no errors and it flowed just fine. I liked that both point of views were given, so that was a plus. What I couldn’t connect with were the characters. To me they were lukewarm and mediocre. No definite age was specified, and if it wasn’t for the references of jobs/companies, I would have thought their actions were that of teenagers. It took me a while to get through this book for that reason.
Aedyn is very driven by his past, that of his father and of Lauren. He talks of how she “blasts a hole” in his heart. And I guess it’s because she ignored him in high school? So Chip is Lauren’s boyfriend, he is totally not a like-able character. And the author has build him as so. He treats Lauren like crap and his very self-absorbed. His image is his priority. Now Lauren is the female lead that I wanted to like. And my reason is, she was the popular head cheerleader, I wanted to see more remorse for her social status climbing ways. It just didn’t deliver, she has mentioned her beauty routine, her availability to money, her life choices. All this made me detach myself from her character.
Beware that the story does end in a small cliffhanger. So a book 2, Flirting with Desire, will be out soon. I would recommend this book in hopes that others can prove me wrong and say “Sarah, I loved it! What’s wrong with you!” If I am able to review book 2, I hope I will feel differently. At this time, my rating is 3 smooches.

After living in a small town most of his life, Aedyn Cumberland moves to Chicago right after his mother’s death. He now has money, position, and all the girls he can want. His plan is to never return to Gardner, Iowa, but we all know what happens when we make plans.

Aedyn is called back when his father passes away. Upset that he’s back and counting the minutes until he can return to Chicago, he comes face to face with the girl he crushed on in High School. Seeing her now, he realizes that she’s a beautiful woman and the feelings he thought were gone, were just hiding.

Lauren Mitchell has been waiting years for her boyfriend Chip to propose. She thinks that’s what she still wants, but his bad temper is getting in the way and making her rethink her plans. Seeing Aedyn again also plays with her mind and she seems to be thinking about him more than she should.

She realizes she hasn’t been really happy for a while now, and when an opportunity to travel presents itself, she has reservations about her decisions. Will Lauren take a chance with Aedyn and see if what could’ve been is still a possibility, or will her loyalty to Chip keep her from finding out what else is out there for her?

This book was a quick and enjoyable read. Aedyn is quite the player at the beginning, but when his feelings for Lauren resurface, his attitude changes and he becomes a likeable character. Lauren seems wishy-washy in her decisions at times, but realizing the kind of man Chip is, you understand why she’s the way she is.

The ending does leave you wanting more and I can’t wait to see what happens with that whole love triangle. Book 2 cannot come soon enough.

Eve Carter from beginning to end this book has kept me on the edge of my seat, my jaw was literally on the floor most of the time. This story was so incredibly amazing I'm not even sure that I can accurately describe it!

This book starts right out of the gate with some hot and steamy action and its all centered around Aedyn Cumberland. Aedyn left his small hometown after watching his mother pass away the night of his high school graduation, he has become a rich and successful businessman in Chicago who runs his own Marketing firm. Aedyn ends up in his hometown after his father passes away and he is trying to tie up lose ends by selling his fathers house and get back to his life in Chicago when he runs into his old crush Lauren Mitchel. Aedyn doesn't expect to be attracted to Lauren any longer but when he see's her again everything comes rushing back again. Lauren is a gorgeous girl in an awful relationship with an abusive boyfriend both physically and mentally but when she see's Aedyn again he sparks something in her she never thought she would feel.

The chemistry between Aedyn and Lauren is so magnetic and it draws you in the two of them are so perfect for each other but Lauren has been so beaten down over the years that its she is so lost its hard to tell whether or not she is going to be able to come back and move on from this.
This story is full of action, drama, suspense, sexual tension, and some hot and steamy explicit scenes so be sure to take warning before you dive into reading your copy.

If you haven't downloaded your copy don't wait this was a fantastic book! I can't wait to see what comes next in this series!!

So just from reading the synopsis I was intrigued by this book. It was a bit more than I expected. I have read previous books from Eve Carter and loved them. This book was so no different except I wasn't expecting a cliffhanger at the end of it.
So this book starts out with Mr. Playboy or Aedyn Cumberland. He has the life that everyone dreams about, owns his own business, lives alone but gets girls like crazy. He finds a letter from his aunt and his whole world comes crashing down. He has to visit the town that he left after his mom died,he isn't looking forward to this at all. Lauren has what she thinks is the perfect life, dating the HS quarterback, who is known in the little community. She is taken care of and ready to move forward with him. All of sudden she starts questioning herself when Chip becomes a major a$$hole and starts hitting her. She happens to see this gorgeous guy coming out of a limo( which is rare to happen in a small town), she is intrigued to find out who it is. She finds out it is Aedyn, who used to be a big nerd in high school but has grown up gorgeous. He ignites a fire in her that she can't ignore. She wonders if her life would be different with him rather with Chip. She gets her chance to explore it and falls hard for him. I'm usually not big on cheating in books but this guy Chip is a total douchebag and treats Lauren like crap. Also this ends in a major Cliffhanger!

4.5 stars !!!

This was a story on two people finding each other after high school. Oh and let's not forget , sex, drugs and alcohol.

Lauren was the popular girl in high school, and typical high school girl ignores the scrawny dork. Aedyn was the scrawny dork in high school who of course had a crush on the popular girl. so fast forward and Aedyn ends up seeing Lauren again, but he's not the scrawny dork anymore, the boy becomes a drop dead sexy millionaire.

I have to say this was and interesting read and my first by this author. Lauren stood behind in Dodge and is now dating the most arrogant but hot guy in town. Aedyn left and made himself very successful. When seeing her old feelings and truths starts to unveil. But Lauren isn't a available anymore. She's dating someone named Chip

.

Lauren kinda annoyed me in some parts, it was obvious she wanted Aedyn like she wanted him but just couldn't seem to understand take a chance, go after what you want. I felt like she was always thinking about her boyfriend and the relationship that wasn't going anywhere. Or the fact that she wanted more for herself, didn't want this life she's living.

Over a sudden she starts to question everything. Aedyn comes to her rescue and invites her to stay with him in Chicago, until she can figure things out for her self.

So what happens when feelings for each others grows ? old memories resurfaces ? the truth comes out ? or when you have feelings for two men?

Review of Flirting With Destiny (Aedyn #1) by Eve Carter

Review done for Hooked on Books

4 out of 5 stars

Lauren Mitchell’s goal in life is to be the perfect wife and have the perfect family. She thought she was on her way to achieving her goal with her boyfriend Chip. Unfortunately, 4 years have gone by and still no ring.

Chip has been acting strange and his temper is getting out of control. Lauren isn’t sure she wants to be with him any more.

When a friend from the past bumps into her at a restaurant, Lauren is even more confused. Aedyn is absolutely gorgeous now and Lauren can feel the attraction between them.

Aedyn has his heart broken once by Lauren and he is not sure he can survive that again. He left is hometown to get away from the memories. One night stands and the occasional drugs are his life now. He has no need for a serious relationship.

When Aedyn returns home to take care of his father’s affairs, he runs into Lauren. He realizes that he still loves her but doesn’t know how to handle those feelings.

When Lauren is threatened, Aedyn jumps in to the rescue.

This book is a good start to a great sounding series. Aedyn is quite handsome and a pro at sex. Lauren was a little whiny at first but she did grow on me as the book went along.

Eve Carter can sure write smoking hot sex scenes. The book starts out with a fantastic one! I couldn’t wait to read more.

I recommend this book to read and cannot wait to read book 2.

Lauren, was popular, hot and had her pick of any young man in school. Aedyn, was the all time smart, nerdie, geek in school and had a mad crush on Lauren, who always new if she wanted a good grade on a project she would always ask Aedyn to be her partner. By senior year Aedyn's whole world came crashing down around him. He didn't get the girl he wanted and it broke his heart, but the real tragedy came on graduation day when he lost his mother.
Years later, Aedyn returns home to bury his father and runs in to Lauren and discovers she still makes his heart beat. While Lauren discovers that Aedyn, is no longer that geek who had a crush on her... NO. Aedyn, is all grown up and HOT AS HELL!!!
What will they do about the desire they are feeling for each other??? Will Aedyn try again to get the girl he wanted back in high school or will the sting of rejection keep him closed off???

Aedyn hasn’t been back home since the night of high school graduation, and that was years ago. That was also the night his mother died. When the only good thing about the town you grew up in isn’t there anymore what is the point. Now his father has passed away and Aedyn has been called back to the town that pretty much ignored him for the first 18 years of his life. He has since gone onto college and has shed the dorky look that plagued him throughout high school. But the memories and pain of years gone by are a little harder to rid yourself of. When he bumps into his high school crush, all the feelings from those years ago come rushing back. Her humiliating him, by turning him down for the prom, maybe revenge is best served cold.
Wow, this was a really good book. Fast read and I loved it, I am really looking forward to book 2, Flirting with Desire. 4.5 stars

4.5 Stars

WTH this was a really good book that I literally did not put it down until I was finished with it. Aedyn was the nerd who wanted the girl all his life and time never changed that. Lauren was the typical high school cheerleader who only wanted the popular guy over looking the guy next door. Years laters the two see each other again and chemistry is flying all through the air. I loved the fact that Lauren finally realized what sje should have known but was to blind to see and that Aedyn finally got what he wanted. This book was filled with twists and turns and the ending I never saw coming. I am literally sitting on pins and needles waiting on the next installment to this series.

*deep sigh*

I read the entire book. It was a pretty easy read. A predictable read. Ended on a cliffhanger, but not strong enough to rope me into buying the rest of the series. Lauren was in an abusive relationship and her indecisiveness and shallow thoughts of what a good Life is dominated the book. It was a bit exhausting reading her thoughts about how she felt about Aedyn and Chip and getting married and UGH. I gave it three stars because it started off with a bang (literally) but shifted into depression mode after Lauren and Chip were introduced.

It's not that I wouldn't recommend, someone else will probably think this book is great. It's wasn't poorly written, I just wish it had more depth and less predictability.

This book was ok...nothing really good and nothing really bad. I was upset to find out this was not a stand alone and I would have to again, wait for the next book to come out. Normally books with more than a stand along have parenthesis with the series name in it and it at least gives you a clue that you will need to be reading more than one book. But this one didn't and I read it thinking it was a stand alone and was sorely mistaken. There are so many unanswered questions and I'm really not feeling the main character Lauren. She better grow some balls in the next book because there is nothing worse than a spineless heroine.

I have read all of the book this author has written under M.S Parker and loved all of them so I was so excited when I found out there was more just under a different name. I absolutely loved this book!!! I hated Chip from the second I met him, Loved Ayden from the second I met him, and I adore Lauren even though I wanted to smack her throughout most of the book. I love her cause she's human. Sometimes, you just can't fight what you feel!!! I read this book in 1 sitting, that's how enthralled I was. I did not want it to end, but I couldn't stop, I just had to keep reading. Great story, lots of emotion, angst, desire, and sexiness!!! On to the next one ;)

I'm hooked on this series so far.
I want Lauren to wise up and realize what Aedyn could offer her, not money wise but trust, honesty all coming from his heart not some hidden agenda.
Chip scares me a bit, he's hiding something and I'm sure it's something huge. I'm not sure what he had Lauren sign on her way out of the office but I'm certain it's a big part of what we've yet to learn.
I can't wait for the next part of this series, the author did a great job setting up a strong story that hooks the reader and leaves them begging for more with the first quick read.

What an incredible read. I have a few favorite authors, but by far Eve Carter is one of my most favorite. Flirting with Destiny from the very start had me hooked. With Adyen returning to town with the death of his dad. He had to face running into his old high school crush Lauren Mitchell. Feelings can be hidden but never forgotten no matter how hard you try. Lauren is stuck though between facing her abusive finance and what her heart feels for Adyen. When push comes to shove will she face her fears and leave the abuse behind and start fresh with Adyen?
