much better than I expected.

I don’t even know where to begin with this.

This series has been a strong 4 almost 5 for me since book 1.

With this being book 3, it was executed different than I expected.

However, much better than I expected.

I can’t really articulate what I was expecting but I am so glad the author was true to his pen and wrote how he felt the story unfolding.
———————-

-Quick read
-Well paced
-Spice scenes had spice
-I love how we got to see “Lance” in this book. The beauty in how the author writes Lingo/Lance’s love for the FMC, Nella is 🤌🏽.
There is a scene in the book where she text him, “come home”- for me the level of significance to that was great…she is his compass. Always gently guiding him back and away from street life.
——————-
“pen game 🔏✅” moment:

How the author ended the book.
That epilogue was flawless and the duality throughout was amazing.
It was simple yet complex.
Beautiful yet sad.
Hopeful yet despairing.
Satisfying yet Insatiable.

Honestly, I think that encapsulated with the author was trying to write: a true, real and raw depiction of street life.
——————-

“pen game 🔏✅” moment:

The way the author revealed who was working with who and how everything transpired.

If you’ve read the books, you kinda had an understanding of who it might be.

As we read through this book, it became more apparent.

However, I do wanna give a lot of credit for the indirect foreshadowing in this book (the chess game, the deleted text, and the Trap house on Jimmy Carter)

I thought that was very impressive.

I highlighted each moment because it was so methodical and well written.

Especially the chess game!

The speech and the silent movement on the board interrupted by the loud movement outside the “game”. IMPRESSIVE.

Again, he did an amazing job with that. Even though you may know who it is, if you miss those moments-you miss the power of the revelation or the big reveal.
————————-

This is definitely an open ended conclusion. Meaning that, there’s a possibility that the author can build on some story lines for another book.

However, if they don’t, it ends at a perfect spot and that’s kinda hard to do.

Thoroughly enjoyed this series and highly recommend!

I rarely feel moved to leave a review. However, this was a well written series. The writing was clean, clear, and true to the streets. The pacing was perfect. It reads more like a movie than a book. Just the right amount of suspense, the right amount of spice, the right amount of love and loyalty. It’s real. Raw. Authentic.

Books 1 and 2 does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, but book 3 does a great job in tying it together. The ending was perfect. It leaves just enough to make u wonder if a part 4 will be coming out, but if not, it’s perfect as is. I do wonder if Lingo gets out of the streets, if they ever find out about Erica and whether or not Melody steps in to help Lingo with his music. But overall, great series.
