I recommend this to any fellow hockey fans.
As a former 4th sting goalie, some of my favorite quotes were:

"How would you like it if, at your job every time you made the slightest mistake a little red light went on over your head and 18,000 people stood up and screamed at you?" Jacques Plante Hall of Fame Goalie for the Canadiens

or

"I play a position where you make mistakes. The only people who don't mwke them at a hockey game are the ones watching." Patrick Roy Goalie for that team that use to be in Quebec City and is now in Denver and which will NOT be named here.

but the best quote in the book is

"You can always get someone to do your thinking for you." --Mr. Hockey (Gordie Howe Hall Fame Player for the DETROIT REDWINGS and arguably the best ever to play the game) explaining why hockey players always wear a protective cup, but not always a helmet.

This raises my one complaint about this little book--they have whole sections devoted to Bobby Orr, The Great One and Super Mario..Of course they should be included. They do not include Steve Yzerman, which I can understand, while he did great things for the DETROIT REDWINGS, he is just below Gretzky and Mario. But where is the section devoted to Gordie Howe??? They have a section devoted to Jaomir Jagr??! But not Gordie Howe??? He played four decades in the NHL! He still holds records for the most points, goals and assists for his position!!

But I digress. Good book for hockey fans and of course

GO WINGS!!!

A pretty funny book of quotes from players, coaches, and others associated with professional ice hockey. I wanted to give it 4 stars, but the price is a little high for the content. Granted, it's a full color book with a number of pictures, so maybe I just don't know what a book like this costs to produce, but it went a little too fast.

Quick read - mostly material from the 1990s and 2000s. Lacks a sense of history or context.
