This is the fourth book in a series focuisng on Liam and Justin. While they’re still struggling with issues of the past, they also face some difficult career choices. Liam is convinced he’s not a family man, and he feels like he’ll always mess it up somehow. Meanwhile, Justin does his best to prove to Liam that family is important, especially when a person Liam never expected to see agian makes a reappearance.

The book has a few surprises, and more than ever the reader can feel connected to both characters and follow them thorugh their journey closer toward one another. I like both these characters, and I loved reading more about them. It was a nice installment, and I look forward to reading more.

Book four in Liam and Justin's saga and the two of them are stronger than ever as a couple. Well, that is when they're cosied up in their own world together, with just the two of them and their few close knit friends. Still very much in love and at last enjoying a full on, healthy sex life; Liam is finally comfortable with the way most things are going in his life. He's fairly settled at 'Spark' the strip club where he go go dances for women (not the gay men's side of the club) as his alter ego 'Damon', now more at ease with the people he works with. In fact in the twelve months he's been working there, he's become top dancer, is earning good tips, has a following of his own, some signature moves and since the death of the man who's existence haunted him; is far more confident and secure in himself generally. He's made a good friend of the very likable Blue: the musician, gym buddy and martial arts expert, he met in book three Naked Truth, and through that friendship has grown physically stronger too. It's been a hard slog to get to this point in his life but for the most part he's probably more contented and happier than he's ever been.

Unfortunately, because of the heart breaking way he was treated by his cold, unfeeling parents, who chucked him out of the house at fifteen, after surviving on the streets, hustling and ultimately being drawn into the world of porn; the one thing that he can't fully open himself up to is being accepted into Justin's, warm, loving family circle. The closeness they have as a family unit scares him. Never having been the recipient of that type of consummate, touchy feely love, the idea of it pushes him away more than pulls him in, so the thought of finally meeting Justin's affectionate, demonstrative mum and dad has him wanting to do a runner...but he knows for Justin's sake, he has to face them sometime and that's how the story opens, with Justin and a reluctant Liam on their way to his home for thanksgiving. Coming into this story at this point with no prior knowledge, it would be hard to fully understand Liam's thought processes about these lovely people, who he does like but it could also make his actions at this stage look selfish and over the top. To be honest even I wanted to shake him a bit round this part, but to fully understand him you have to have been with him and Justin from the beginning. I don't think this is a book that reads well if you haven't followed it from its outset, so personally I wouldn't advise this as a standalone read.

At this juncture of the series, as established as they've become, Liam and Justin still have some life changing decisions to make. Justin wants them to take what they they have to the next level. He wants to get married but a still slightly skittish Liam just wants things to stay as they are. In his eyes it's a case if it's not broke don't fix it, but of course his fears of making a permanent commitment all stem from his perceptions about his own dysfunctional family and the worry that in time if things were to go wrong between them, Liam would end up being rejected. Something his fragile emotions couldn't take! But once again the gorgeous Justin shows just how thoughtful and loving a partner he is by not pushing his young lover. Gently handling Liam by letting him come around in his own time. One thing I've always loved about the dynamics between these two characters is that the drama and angst never comes from stupid misunderstandings caused by miscommunication, as they discuss and tell each other everything…the reason they have such a strong connection and relationship....

**This book was provided to me by the author/publisher via Pride Promotions in exchange for an hones review**

Let me start by saying, I didn’t read the first 3 books, so I think some things got lost in translation for me. Maybe if I had read the other books, I would have understood the characters better, and my rating may have been higher. You could tell this was a continuation of a story, and sometimes I just felt a little lost. This book deals with some deep issues, but it really isn’t very angsty. I love broken characters and Liam, even though he is healing, seems to have been a very broken character at one time.

This books starts with Liam and Justin spending Thanksgiving with Justin’s parents. Justin has obviously proposed in the past and been turned down by Liam. Liam loves Justin, but refuses to marry him. That was mainly what this story dealt with. Some of Liam’s thoughts about spending time with Justin’s parents, just made me think he was a total ass. Justin’s parents were nothing but polite, nice and welcoming, so I wasn’t sure what the deal was. They even seem to accept that he is a go-go boy. Towards the end when I am told, and I guess other readers are refreshed about what Liam went through with his parents, well I am sorry, but I still don’t see why he has such a strong aversion to spending time with Justin’s family or accepting his marriage proposal.

Liam comes to a sort of cross roads in his career, during this leg of the journey, and really by the end of this book, I still didn’t get closure, but the way the books ends, I get the feeling there will be more.

Justin and Liam have good chemistry, and a strong and loving relationship. They make decisions about their lives and career moves together, and talk to one another before things explode. They seem like a very strong couple. The book was well written and flowed at a good pace. Even though I was missing things it was still a really good read. The sex was kind of alluded to, but not graphic.

This is my first book by this author, but I liked her writing style and am looking forward to going back and reading books one - three, this actually sounds like a really good series. I will also be checking out the other books by this author!

This was the first of the four books in this series, but I do feel like it did fall into the category of a standalone. However, some of what made the book lacking to me could be because I didn't have all of the back story to go with it. I can't really say for sure.

Liam is a go-go boy (whatever that is) and even after reading the book I'm still not entirely sure... he does pretty much what I know a stripper to do except go full nude. He does private dances, floor time and even walks the runway. Besides that part of it confusing me, I actually liked Liam. He had a hard life. He was kicked out by his parents and was used and abused in various ways during his youth. At some point he met Justin, who saved him.

Justin feels that after two years he is ready to marry Liam. However, Liam is against it as is Justin's family.

As much as the synopsis made it seem like this was the main basis of the story, there is much more that goes on. Like finding out that the people who own the company's business aren't who Liam thought they were, which drags up part of his past. Along with a spattering of stories about side characters and their achievements and relationships. And what Liam is going to do when Justin is unexpected moved at his job.

While I actually enjoyed the style of writing, I felt like the story itself left much to be desired. It just didn't captivate me. I didn't find anything particularly exciting about the story line as I saw most of the curves coming before they happened. Well, except the unexpected visitor, but although I'm sure the people who've read along since book one found it interesting, I found not to be as impactful as it was to Liam. I knew from the start he would do what he ended up doing at the end.

However, I would read this author again since I did find her style clean and well thoughtout. Again, it could've been because I jumped in book 4 in the series and lacked the connection that was already established in the previous books, but it was tagged as a standalone so I thought it would be okay.

I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.

Original Blog Post: Blog Tour, Excerpt, eARC Review & #Giveaway: Bare Threads (Saving Liam #4) by D.P. Denman

I read this book as a standalone and it was quite a revelation. I come into a series on the fourth book and the couple are already established and such. There are hints to a darker past and traumatic history for Liam and yet, curiously, the book did not offer much of an information. The hints were quite dark and the reappearance of a long-ago mother did spice things up, but...

In this story, I gather that Liam and Justin had been living together for about two years. The past does not really come into the picture until Liam had to make career choices unexpectedly. He is currently a go-go-dancer boy at a strip club but circumstances made it that he not only has a new boss, he is actually rethinking his role and looking for a new job. In the meanwhile, Justin is given a curve-ball of an offer from his own employers and is also looking for something new. All this in the middle of an argument, or discussion, that refuses to settle down: will Liam finally agree to marrying Justin?

All angst and drama aside, this was a lighter read than I thought it to be. It was also quite a fast read for the plot developed at an amazing pace, seemingly passing over events but really, did not. What struck me was the maturity of the relationship between Liam and Justin and seriously, why go through the marriage if one was not in on it? Then again, why not get married? These questions hangs over Liam all throughout the book, through all the drama and whatnots happening.

As a standalone, yes, its an okay book. What I am going to do now is go and get the first three books for I am sure this would have had a bigger impact on me if I had read them. Then I would see the process of Liam's growth and understand why Justin saw something in him to go out, be the knight in shining armor and save Liam from the life he had led.

...going, going, going...

Four stars!
I haven’t read any of the other books in the series and I was worried I’d be lost or miss things. I’m happy to say there was enough information to keep me from being confused. Watching Liam try to deal with Justin’s family and meeting the parents was heart breaking. He was out of his element but he tried so hard. I thought it was interesting how Liam put on a whole persona at the club. He talked about the persona, Damon, as if it was a different living person. The connection between Liam’s past and the owners of Sparks was fascinating. I didn’t see it coming and was floored right along with Liam. I felt bad for Justin when Liam kept telling him no to marriage. However, I understood Liam’s reluctance. The person from Liam’s past (not going to spoil it with who!) was surprising. They had nothing but bad intentions and was happy with how Justin and Liam handled it. I fell in love with Blue as well and can’t wait to read his story.

Another great installment in the Saving Liam series. Liam continues to grow in confidence, but his life has set his expectations so low, he has trouble believing that Justin's love is forever. With its strong characterizations, gripping plot, and laugh-out-loud moments of humor, this book will keep you rooting for Justin and Liam until the very end.
