With This Woman by Jodi Ellen Malpas is This Man- the story from Jesse #2. His POV gives us a deeper look into the mind of this intense, complex, delicious man. Love=madness for Jesse Ward, and he does everything to the extreme. I just LOVED it! I couldn't get enough of this man and his beautiful, vulnerable heart. I almost felt like I was reading this story for the first time. This couple will always be one of my top favorites. I kept smiling while reading, and there's just nothing like Jesse when he "makes friends." This book was full of emotion, passion and explosive chemistry. It reminded me how much I've missed this world. <333
Love of my life? Jesse Ward, end of!! I savor these books. Learning in detail how Jesse’s mind works has been an adventure. The way he loves and expresses love for Ava is breathtakingly beautiful! I absolutely cannot wait to read This Woman Forever. This whole series is one that I recommend to literally everyone!
Like with the first book - we all know this story already. Ava told it to us years ago. But now it's Jesse's turn to tell his side of everything! And this second book obviously starts after Ava found out what goes on in Jesse's 'Hotel'. LOL. She left him at the end of the first book. And our poor Jesse is completely broken and lost. He has to win her back. Which won't be easy....

Oy! 🔥
Another amazing JEM book. This is basically poor Jesse trying to keep Ava with him, dealing with a bit of Manor and enemies business, lots of sexy scenes. Lots of them. Lots of funny and adorable moments. And some very heartbreaking back-in-time moments. And of course a lot of lying! Or rather lies of omission. He's just not telling Ava everything and that makes me crazy mad! Ugh. That guy needs to see a therapist SO badly! Grrrr. 🤣
And now I'm just quoting from my review for Jesse's first book:
There's not much more I could say without telling you all the secrets. Which is stupid because you might think you already know everything. But you don't .... (insert creepy Halloween laughter!)
This book is a 100% Must Read for all fans of Jesse! I would not recommend this for new reades. Please read Ava's books first. You will get the shock(s) of your life if you start with Jesse's side. LOL!
I loved reading this book and I can't wait to get the third one in Jesse's POV. Like I said before there are some moments where you want to stop reading or where you just want to hit him over the head with your kindle. But the poor guy has a lot of growing up to do - despite his age he's still a young boy. With his horrible parents and his lifestyle and all the deaths he never really had a chance to mature in a normal way. Which does not excuse his horrible behavior but we can understand him at least a little bit. Okay - that's all. READ this book if you love Jesse and if you don't yet know him - get Ava's books and fall in love with them for the very first time. It won't be easy but it'll be worth it!
WITH THIS WOMAN is a Must Read for all fans of Jesse and Ava - and if you haven't read Ava's books yet RUN to your nearest book dealer and buy those books! And then come back for Jesse's side of everything! You'll get Sexy. Crazy. Sweet. Erotic. Insane. Adorable. Hot. Funny. Loco and most importantly you'll get.... the Lord himself: JESSE WARD!! THIS SERIES IS A MUST READ!
Lord have mercy. Jesse Ward is something else. 😂 😂
You know by now that this is the same fic told from Jesse's POV. You guys know what a toxic and frustrating relationship he and Ava have and that doesn't change just because it's Jesse's POV. Plus, this damn book is nearly 700 pages. Jesus Freaking Christ!!! WHY would JEM think this was a good idea??
What I did like about this book was there were a lot of parts that had me laughing so hard. Conversations between him, Sam, and Drew were particularly funny. Also, the way he rationalized so much of his behavior had me laughing because it was just so bonkers!!! It really made me realize that since he had zero "dating" experience, he really did think the way he acted was totally normal. That in and of itself was funny.
I always thought Clive was just a sweet old man - but he's really tricky!!! Shame on Clive! I also saw Sarah in a new way - I still hate her because she's a b!tch, but I do have some sympathy for her now. I also understand why it was so hard for Jesse to turn his back on her. It gave me some clarity on those things and I also understood more why he kept certain things from Ava.
I enjoyed this one much more than I did the first Jesse POV book. I laughed a lot more. I don't know if it was because the audio made it seem funnier or not - but know that it is a possibility that's why I laughed.
AUDIO Either Shane East was better in this one or I just grew accustomed to his shouting. I do quite enjoy his "O" voice.
I will never ever ever get enough of this world. I don't ever want it to end and I thank Jodi for releasing Jesse's POV like she has done because I just NEEDED to be taken back to my favourite land of all time.
What I thought Jesse was thinking, he was, just a thousand times more intense and a little bit more crackers. There will never be a more possessive, infuriating, handsome, caring Alpha in the land of all Alpha's. It's him. He's the ONE. Nobody compares.
Why is it that I have read this trilogy multiple times, yet I feel all the feels like it's the first time? Jodi's writing, that's why.
Anxious for the next insight into the mind of crazy Ward! <3
We was knocked sideways when we got This woman so prepare yourself to be totally blown away by Jodi as she brings us With This Woman, where she peels back the layers and goes deeper than ever and brings us a pro-founding insight to Jesse Ward like never before. When you can highlight every word you know it’s an absolute showstopper !
It starts off with the heaviest of Jesse’s feelings. Deep in his thoughts at such a low point, my stomach was in knots. Your chest tightens, you feel his turmoil and instantly my heart breaks for him. There’s many moments/scenes where Jodi Ellen Malpas hits us in the right spots filled with so much emotion. Everything is just in so much more depth. More nerves, more anger, more anxiety and dread Even more torn but yet much more understanding too.
Jesse is pure heat. He is confident and cocky with it yet he’s vulnerable. He’s protective and possessive and This time he’s more domineering and controlling more so because of his fear. Despite our love for him there’s no denying he’s a frustration at times, a hypocritical man but this time i feel we really get to understand those motives and reasonings clearer, especially with the insights/flashbacks to events of the past some tragic and some bittersweet, you truly sympathise for him. He’s terrified the truths will be the cause of losing the love of his life. This poor man is torn, in a constant state of anguish and he knows she needs the truth but he knows she has a habit to run and he’s not willing to take that risk. She’s his reason for living. She’s his absolute world. He’s Devoted to her and oozes love, he wants to give her all his time and consume all hers, he craves her touch and speaks a love language like no other. His expressions and the words he says to her, his unconditional love is, it all gives me tingles, butterflies and pure content and gratification. He’s dreamy and truly melts me and i want to stay on Central Jesse Cloud 9 in a heaven of bliss forever.
As much as it’s filled with emotion JW has a dry sense of humour and plenty of one liners and witty comebacks to bring those funny moments . Quite often our Mr Ward is rather comical. Ava has a sass and defiance that’s grows and she constantly challenges his ways despite at times easily amenable but it’s hardly surprising with Jesses persuasive ways. One of the best things about this story is the spice Malpas brings because their passion only fuels the energy of their relationship. With this woman is sexier and hotter and it brings an immense pleasure.
Jodi, giving us this version of Jesse , inside his complex mind, how she brings your feelings alive , has you completely spell-binded by this man and his ways, how despite his flaws, she makes you fall harder every single time and Despite knowing this story you’ll be more captivated than ever before, this really showcases her writing as outstanding with Jodi at her very best and really does outdo herself. I am and will forever be irrevocably and incredibly enamoured with Jesse Ward.
With This Woman is an incredible Euphoric Romance with an edge that’s not to be missed! I cannot wait for the finale there’s going to be fireworks!
Nothing short of perfection. Jodi’s words captivated me from start to finish. It was wonderful to be brought back to the world of The Manor with the Lord and his Lady. Getting into the mind of Jesse was painful yet insightful. Through his troubled pasts, we had a better understanding of his fear, over-the-top protectiveness and most of all utter devotion to Ava. He was no doubt crazy about her but I understood and learned to be more accepting of both his behaviour and actions.
The Jesse POV definitely showed readers how things looked when you’re on the other side. It was very interesting to see how Ava was perceived. I loved that we got to see more of Sam and Kate relationship, as well as the interaction between Jesse and other characters like John, Sarah, Cathy and even Clive. There were things we didn’t get to see from Ava’s POV.
At the beginning of With This Woman, Jesse was in a terrible state after Ava found out about his Manor and left. He would do anything to win her back, even if it meant being more vulnerable, giving up power and revealing his ugly truths. The sense of distance, hurt and awkward tension was difficult. They were constantly walking on eggshells around one another. He was desperate to prove his love, his worth and his loyalty to her.
He didn’t think he deserved something so pure and good after the life he’s had. The Manor had been his lifeline but he was getting more detached by the day. All it brought was pain and heartache. Once he found his lifeline, Ava, he wanted to do things right and be the man she deserved.
There were certain scenes I knew I had to see it from Jesse’s POV and I was so glad we finally got to see them. It shed light on why he made some of the worst decisions. I’ll forever be obsessing over this series. These characters have my whole heart and having another chance to experience all over again from the eyes of the Lord himself was absolutely everything.
5 INFINITE ‘You’re My Little Piece of Heaven’ Stars
How is THIS possible?! How could I fall even harder and stronger for this man?! With This Woman just took my ALL my emotions and put them through the workout of a LIFETIME!!! This poor broken and crazy man… I ADORE him, Jesse Ward is the EPITOME of romance book boyfriend, the true definition of it! End of!
Ms. Malpas truly blew my expectations - and they were as high as possible considering this series is one of my all time favorites and branded in my SOUL! - to smithereens with this book. Yes, I already loved the series, and specially this man, yes, it’s a male POV, which is my ultimate fav, and yes, I got more Jesse Cloud Nine, but THIS BOOK… Mind utterly BLOWN! JEM took this story that is stamped in my mind and gave it such a fresh and utterly devastating take that I gulped it down like the thirsty Jesse Ward fan that I am… From start to finish, the level of anguish, obsession and LOVE was unbound, and I cried so much for this crazy shattered man. The sexy moments are as always unparalleled, and the loving ones, even more so, but his desperation?! I felt it deep in my HEART as my own.
Yes, I’ll be forever raving about this, and I make no excuses, one of the TOP READS of the year, of my LIFE! And I’m most definitely making my own countdown for the conclusion of this MIND BRANDINGLY EPIC love story!! 3… 2… 1….
We’re one. A force. She’s a salve to my cracked heart. She’s my soul. My fucking everything.
Over 10 years ago, I met Jesse and Ava and absolutely fell down a rabbit hole. These two were crazy in love, yet so toxic but also their love story worked. Now, a decade later we are getting their journey through Jesse's eyes and it is quite the ride. You think you know the story and while you may, there is so much more to Jesse than meets the eye.
Jesse "the Lord of the Manor" Ward is back and we start right where we left off. He messed up and he's basically hanging by a string, but will do anything to get the reason his heart beats, the reason he breathes, the woman that completely owns him back. He will trample and he will convince Ava that they are meant to be and he will do it by any means necessary.
Oh my goodness! It was crazy to read a story I had read in Ava's POV before and to get it all from Jesse. To hear his inner demons and to understand each of the scenes a little bit better was quite eye opening. Yes, we get answers and see how their story comes together in the This Man series, but this is different. This is Jesse's journey from a past that nearly broke him to finding someone that completes him, even if he went a bit out of his way to get to the outcome he was looking for. I enjoyed seeing John being his voice of reason and Jesse still trampling him. Sarah I still despise as much as I did before. And Sam and Drew have some interesting pieces to the story that I wasn't aware of before. There were so many times I was laughing out loud (the shopping scene at Harrod's lol) and other times I wanted to knock Jesse upside the head and to tell him NO (walking in on Ava's work meeting). But man, Jesse's past is really knocking at the door in book 2 and he wants to hide as much as he can from Ava so she won't run again. Can we say "not healthy, Jesse?"
In With This Woman there are some heavy and emotional moments, there are some outrageous and funny moments and there is of ton of sex in between it all. This is a long book and this journey is bit intense and at times quite toxic. But through it all, there is a strength and connection that these two break through and capture. I quite enjoyed seeing a story that I thought I knew before evolve and morph from Jesse's eyes. That man is still crazy in love with Ava and will trample trample trample anyone that comes between them. I can't wait for the epic conclusion and see how Jesse handles everything that comes to them before they truly get their HEA.
LASTLY....With all that said, I feel like these books are for the original This Man readers, but also believe new readers to this world will enjoy Jesse's journey to an HEA too. But trust me when I say, if you're a new reader to Jesse's out of control mind, you may want to get Ava's POV in there too.
If you’ve read the This man series you know what a complicated man our Jesse is………
He genuinely believes he’s undeserving of love. That he deserves punishment for his history & past indiscretions. With this woman, we see Jesse shows a real vulnerable side.
I don’t have enough words or praise for Jodi Ellen Malpas, She has created anther emotional masterpiece. I fall in love even more with this complicated, secretive, flawed man with every book she gives us ! I was immersed from the very first page, even though we know the story & outcome, I felt like I was reading a completely new story ~ A testament to JEM’s phenomenal talent This series is by far my favourite EVER ~ Total gratification !!
The beauty of this love story between Jesse & Ava is emotionally brilliant. They’re far from conventional but the love, the passion, the connection & incredible chemistry these two share is truly undeniable. Jesse & Ava have my heart in the palm of their hands. Everything about this series makes me fall harder, every single time.
My heart broke, I shed tears reading Jesse’s flashbacks, his thoughts. How his nightmares & guilt are tormenting him. You get to realise all the more why he’s as possessive & craves control over Ava. Why he’s as tortured as he is.
Previously he’d blot his past out by getting so drunk he’d lose conscience. Jesse keeps his secrets & past hidden to protect Ava, protecting their relationship, trying to desperately to hold on to his fiercely independent, stubborn woman. The woman who keeps his heart beating, only doing so is causing him more anguish, fear & of course trampling, countdowns & challenging ways !
They are truly a Romeo and Juliet couple. They completely given themselves to each other. They would literally die for one another, that’s how deep their love grows.
Again, thank you to JEM for giving us more of Jesse & Ava ~ I’m already eager & looking forward to reading This Woman forever ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
With This Woman by Jodi Ellen Malpas is book Two in This Man- The Story From Jesse Series. This continues the story of Jesse Ward and Ava O'Shea. This is the point of view from Jesse. Their story was in the trilogy The man. The previous book 'This Woman' needs to be read before starting this one. This is a bonus if you have read 'The Men' trilogy. I can not stress enough how much I am loving getting into Jesse mind. It so wonderful to see his minds obsession toward Ava. Along with how he is confused with his feelings but knows what he wants. This book ends setting us up for the next installment. I CANNOT WAIT!! Love this author's writing...need more soon.
Book two from Jesse’s POV will dive deeper into all his thoughts and demons. We begin where This Woman left off with Jesse drowning in his sorry state. He needs Ava to breathe, but can he repair the damage he has caused? I love finally seeing certain scenes through Jesse’s eyes especially his flashbacks. Wait until you see the craziness that really went down when Ava was dress shopping…hilarious! Are you ready to get the full picture from this once in a lifetime love story? Come back to The Manor and all the secrets within “the lord of the manors” life! A must read for fans of this series. This is Beneath The Man told in Jesse’s POV.
With This Woman is amazing, this book is raw, this book is off the charts… this book is EPIC!!
The Lord of the Manor is the strongest, most confusing and infuriating character z as t Times but when he loves, he loves hard and there’s no coming back . To read the tale of Ava and Jesse from his point of view made me feel a wave of emotions, it was angsty, emotional and sad… our Lord shared his vulnerability and his insecurity and I felt for him so so much … « Ask me if I love you. If you mean the fucking world to me. If you’re the difference between life and death. I take some »
I love this book with whole my heart, everything about it, the story, the characters, the setting. It drew me in like an addict and had me hook, line and sinker. There is so much I can say but instead I’ll be counting the days till the release of This Woman Forever.
'Watch your mouths and dress only in lace, your Lord of the Manor is back and he's trampling his way to the top. Jodi Ellen Malpas shining at her best and brightest with Jesse and Ava' - The British Bibliophile
Thank you to Valentine PR for sending me an ebook Advanced Readers Copy for me to read and leave an honest review.
With This Woman (This Man - The Story from Jesse) by Jodi Ellen Malpas is the second book in the much-beloved Jesse POV series, based on the original This Man series. Eleven years after the first publication of This Man our love for the Lord and his Lady is still as strong as ever, and this read only fuels our love for these two even more as we once more get back into their whiplash world.
The reception to the introduction to Jesse's POV with This Woman was unlike anything I have ever seen as a reader. Full-length novels in his POV were more than highly-requested and after getting to know him up close and personal more than ever we've read before for a second time, delving deeper into his psyche and int the complexity that is his heart and soul, I feel we'll all be deeper in love with this rampaging bull of a man than we've ever been before. Not that we had a choice, he was going to always make us his one way or another. We wouldn't want it any other way.
Jesse Ward has now been in our lives for the last eleven years, and although personally I was late in actually diving into the world of The Lord and his Lady, it's been simply impossible to turn back and go into another book without them crossing my mind at least once. Jodi has the knack of writing characters that go beyond leaving a long-lasting impression, they're with you somewhere in the back--or front--of your mind permanently. Jesse's POV books have only heightened that sense of prominence they'll forever have in both my mind and in my heart forever.
Book one, This Woman , answered my prayers when it came to delivering a read that swept us right back to Central Jesse Cloud Nine, and this book kept those prayers going. Although we already know where the story is headed thanks to the original series, Jodi has written it so that with the new POV we're seeing it through, we somehow still don't see things coming and feel everything in its raw intensity all over again as if it were the first time. There are very few authors, books and characters that can actually elicit that response out of a reader, and I'm proud to say that Jodi and the worlds with the characters she creates in them, does that every single time.
With This Woman showed that just when you think you're at your most awed, impressed and blown away, you can go even further. Be those things even more and times to the max. Where by this series is not the only definitive thing that defines Jodi as an author, and certainly isn't the most prominent you associate with her, it proves that no matter how far you go or how much you do, home is where the heart is. This is what this book and the series its in feels like. It feels like coming home. This series is home . This book is far from the 'saggy' middle section of Jesse's POV series, it instead gives us all we know and love about this chapter--pun intended--of their story and oh so much more. Jesse and Ava are just 'more', in every sense of the word. More indeed does happen to them in this book, to even describe it in the most simplest of terms. This is Jodi's girthiest book to date and that's evident from just how much was packed into the storyline. But then again, Jesse has always been about the girth, hasn't he? Stretching us to our limits and leaving us fully satisfied.
I said in my review in the November of last year for This Woman , that both Ava and Jesse had become fast-favourites of mine and that thanks to that book, I'd fallen in love with them all over again. A year on? That is still if not even more true. When we finish a book, that's not the end of our time with it before we find something else and move on. After finishing This Woman for the first time, I went back to it between reading other books and fed myself tidbits of Jesse and Ava to tide me over until the second instalment that is With This Woman . This includes the highly-recommended (by myself) audiobook accompaniment of This Woman read by the one and only narrator on this planet that embodies everything in his voice that can be the one and only person to be this character, Mr Shane East. There is no praise on this planet big enough to say how much justice he has done with Jodi's words, and I am very much looking forward to tomorrow when I can begin the audio adventure with him all over again with With This Woman's audio adaptation.
One of the great things about fictional romance books--especially the edgy, romantic kind--is that half of what goes into them we definitely wouldn't like and/or deal with in the real world. We say it about men and their characteristics in romance novels all the time, and I feel it's true with With This Woman , though not in a bad way. Ava's character especially, puts up with so much in this book. She goes through the emotional and physical wringer--Jesse's bulldozer nature included, of course--and if we were her in the real world, or any of the supporting characters--shoutout to dear John who puts up with our beloved Lord--, we definitely would've been done with things a lot sooner than later. But, Jodi's characters are sturdy stuff. They can take what she puts them though and I can't wait to see her put them through it all again in This Woman Forever . This--not unlike the upper rooms of The Manor--is the kind of punishment we are gluttons for and willingly submit ourselves to. All in the name of our Queen.
Earlier on this year, I stated over on my Instagram that there would be two potential books that would co-share the spot of my no.1 top reads of this year. The first was the sensational second instalment int the Mister & Missus series, The Missus by E.L.James, and the second was of course, With This Woman . The first came true and I have since continued to sing its praises since its release, but did the second? I'm confessing here and now that it is in fact...also true! Having two ladies, who I will admire for as long as eternity is, as my top two reads of this year is such a proud honour as a reader. If I had to pick two women to read only for the rest of my life, it would be these two and the worlds they give to us through their words.
Any Jodi Ellen Malpas book is an automatic 5-star read, but With This Woman is truly deserving of that rating for any and all ways you can think of for your own personal tastes, as I have with mine. This is not just for Jodi but for all involved. From the cover design, to the people who helped with the nitty-gritty, everyone. This is a 5-star read for all.
To Jodi, thank you for giving us a deeper insight to someone who is more than a book boyfriend to us, but is a companion when we don't have a real-life counterpart. Jesse Ward will mean to us more than we could ever say, and we'll be eternally grateful to you for giving us a double dose of the man who fell from grace but like the lord himself, was resurrected--along with his heart--and given a second chance.
Jesse, Ava, Kate, Sam, Drew, John & the crew, I'll be seeing you in This Woman Forever . Save the date, May the 14th be with us!
Once again Jodi has outdone herself with the storyline of With This Woman. Yes, we all know it had been told from Ava’s POV in Beneath This Man but, I can tell you that there is so much more to this story from his POV. The complexity, and intricacies that are Jesse Ward have left my mind blown. Honestly, it was genius. I can only imagine how hard it was for JEM to write it because this one was a rough one. From the beginning, we see the roller coaster that is Jesse. He is super raw, and vulnerable. He’s complex, unhinged, all consuming, all encompassing but also struggling with his demons, and the ghosts he runs from. He’s so broken, the pain emanates off the pages and it’s gut wrenching. We see flashbacks and interactions with his loved ones from his past, and some not so loved ones. Some of the truths we learned, wow! The truth and heartbreaking past make him want to protect his future. Making him closed off, and not being his true authentic self with Ava. We continue to see Jesse’s struggles with addiction and co-dependency. But, we also see him trying to be a better man, and his road to redemption. Loved that we got see see more of his relationships with Kathy, John, Drew and Sam. I can’t say that I was his number one fan in this book and much as the first. Ava always seems like the triggering one, but he took the cake in this one. I also give Ava alot of credit. It takes a strong woman to be with a man like Jesse Ward. I see that more so now than in the previous books. Of course, JEM doesn’t leave out the sassiness, the spice or the angst in this one. I will say, I read and listened to the audiobook. Shane East doesn’t disappoint, his devotion to this character came through so hard. Especially in the last 10-12 percent of the book. CP 46-47 were rough to listen to. At the same token I couldn’t stopped getting trampled by Shane, JEM and Jesse MF Ward. Amazing read and listen. Can’t wait to read and listen to This Woman Forever, book 3 in the series. Expected release date 5/14/2024.
11 years ago, JEM opened the doors to The Manor and out walked Jesse "The Lord" Ward. He is the reason for my love of Alpha Males. When I tell you my copies are well-loved, I mean they are well-loved. There are bends, folds, creases, pencil marks (even though Jesse hates pencils). I absolutely love this series and will always find my way back to it. Now getting a chance to see behind the office walls and inside the mind of Our Favorite Lord I have fallen more and more in love with the man. We all know the story. We all love the story. Now we get to enjoy it from His side
We got our first look with This Woman. My heart broke for Jesse. Reading it from Ava's POV, we really didn't get to see much of the real Jesse, so this one was heavy. If you have ever read the This Man series, then you know what a broken, complex man our Jesse truly is.
Now comes With This Woman Here, we get a deeper look "Beneath This Man" with Jesse's POV. I laughed. I cried. I felt all the emotions that Jesse felt. JEM really handled Jesse's side of things with such power. From Ava's side, Jesse can been seen as overbearing and unreasonable (amongst other things). But from Jesse's side, you get so much more
This man truly believes that he is undeserving of love. He truly believes that he is worthless. He punishes himself (physically, mentally & emotionally) for his past faults and his history. There are some heavy moments, from heavy scenes that you really just want to reach inside the pages and hold this man in your arms until he can feel the love that he is worthy of. Until he can see that he is more than what he allows himself to be. I cried during the moments when he was hearing his brother, and having him almost guide him in the right direction.
He keeps his secrets and his past hidden in order to protect his relationship with Ava, as well as Ava herself. He desperately tries anything and everything to keep his hold on this woman. who is fiercely independent and whole-fully stubborn She just so happens to be the one woman who keeps his heart beating, but doing so, causes him to have his fears heightened and causes him more anguish. He cannot stand the thought of ever losing her. Which of course results in him trampling everything and everyone, and creating a countdown to get his way Boy, how I love this challenging man.
Gosh, Jodi Ellen Malpas truly knocked this one way out of the park. I am absolutely looking forward to the conclusion of Jesse's POV with This Woman Forever, if I can ever recover from this one. There aren't enough words to express how much I love Jodi's work. With each and every read or reread, I fall more in love with our complicated, broken, secretive, flawed, and complex man.
Thank you Jodi, for writing such a story about a beautiful broken man and the lady that loves him. I will cherish them forever.
I am so glad I was able to read an ARC to Jesse's point of view. This story was one of the first series I read when started reading back again. Thank you @Jodiellenmalpas & @valentine_pr_ for letting me be part of this great book ARC team✨
Reading this book with Jesse's side of the story is absolutely delightful. Jesse will always have a part in my heart. Ava and Jesse have the kind of love that is intense but also pure. Seeing everything Jesse went through is painful but really interesting to read. Jesse loves Ava so hard he would move the entire earth to have her by his side.
His POV gave us another look on the intense mind of our man Jesse. Jesse and Ava will always be part of my favorite fictional couple. The chaos, the secrets, possessiveness and the intense love will always make this story delightful to read. His way of making friends with her is just really interesting. I cant wait to keep reading his POV. There's so much I can say about this story Im so glad Jodi decided to write his POV so we can see what goes through his mind at all times.
I totally recommend this series showing Jesse POV. If you havent read the This Man story you definitely should add it to your TBR.
Maybe time and experience has made JEM a better writer, but I feel like all of the books from Jesse's POV were just so much smoother than all the installments from Ava's POV. Honestly, whenever I go back to the very beginning and read their story from Ava's POV, the difference in quality is actually a little cringey. Ava's POV is so chaotic that it's hard to get through, but I'll probably keep reading it anyway.
My biggest gripe with this story is that the "cheating" aspect (I'm on the fence because of technicalities, but it was absolutely a betrayal of trust) is never truly talked about and it's pretty much brushed aside. I enjoyed the tiny bit of groveling Jesse did, but he needs to do so much more.
I honestly don't like any of the sex scenes throughout the entire series; they're just too dry, for lack of a better word. They move things along emotionally, but I can never enjoy them for the steam they're supposed to provide. Only other complaint is that Jesse kept saying "boobs" instead of breasts and it kept throwing me off. Am I reading a 38-year-old man's POV or a 15-year-old's?
This book brought so many feelings back of falling in love with Jesse Ward, I was the one that was on 'Jesse-Cloud-Nine' this time and not Ava.
Being inside the 'Lord of the Manor's' head was just a Wonderwall; crazy, obsessive, adoration, toxic, romance and OMG so much love!!! I knew Jesse loved Ava, but I didn't realise the extent of HOW MUCH he adored her until this book. His every breath belonged to her, she owned every one of his heartbeats, it was obsession ALL THE WAY. Jesse has so many thoughts; after 600 pages, my brain was fried with him. He will forever be my number one book boyfriend and I will forever adore him and his crazy ways.
While Beneath This Man had more of a powerful effect on me via Ava's point of view, I couldn't fault this book. Jodi did a brilliant job at making him feel real for me, I swear he's walking around London somewhere with Ava on his arm, living his crazy life.
Loved every bat-shit crazy word and I can't wait to read With This Woman Forever.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review. Ten years ago I fell hard for Jesse and Ava's story. Getting Jesse's point of view is an eye-opener. This book continues from the first book when Ava left Jesse after finding out what the Manor was. After a week of nothing from Jesse and all his friends being worried, Ava helps them get in the penthouse, she is scared of what she finds. We all know the story and how it ends but seeing it through Jesse's eyes is so much more intense and heartbreaking too. He doesn't know what it feels like to love and be loved. He is scared of losing her or someone trying to take her away. His mind is always trying to think of ways to keep her tied to him. I tried to savor this one but I knew I needed to finish it and it was great getting back to visit with the Lord of the Manor. This story is intense, heartbreaking, scary at times, loving, fun, and all-around a great story. I can not wait for more, I will be reading this over and over. Mary @ Wicked Reads
With This Woman (This Man - The Story from Jesse, #2) by Jodi Ellen Malpas 4 stars M/F Romance, BDSM hints I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
This is the perspective of Jesse. It's almost an identical story as Ava's but told from the opposing side.
It's still a good story with the characters weaving their own way through the twisted and messy life. I really like that you can see how Jesse sees Ava through his own eyes. Yes, I know that he still is a possessive and controlling as ever, but you don't get to just see that side. You get to see the why behind it.
I like being the dual perspective. Jesse's friends are still the same, but you get to see them through Jesse's eyes and see him through theirs.
You won't be disappointed to see how Jesse sees the world. But, if you're looking for something different than the original, you might be a little disappointed.
I loved this book. It’s long but I still wanted more. I wish the next was out but -I’ll go back to Ava’s series - This Man and finish the story. This is such a beloved set, I don’t think I have adored any book boyfriend as much as Jessie. Don’t you think Colin Farrell would make a perfect Jessie? Colin in Miami Vice - long blond hair, great body but not a body builder type maybe through Netflix if not, I hope they finally make the movie on PassionFlix - when we met the actor for Jessie, I didn’t get it. I’ve read the series twice but I still enjoyed it from Jessie’s POV. One thing you finally get is his constant need to control and be in charge. We understood some of it but not to the degree you understand from his perspective- you realize this isn’t ego, this is fear - fear of losing someone you love, yet again. More then a few typos, yet they are small and hopefully as I sent them through the kindle app they will be fixed.
The Lord of the Manor is back, and his spiralling out of control, his biggest fear has happened she left him. When he finds Ava there, he will do anything he can to keep her, or as Ava says he will trample anyone that gets in his way. Jesse is still trying to protect Ava from his past, but it’s getting harder and harder for her not to see it, particularly when they have a party at the Manor. Jesse still feels that Ava will run if she knows all his past, and you get to see how that past affects Jesse making him the man he is today. You see that even with his past all Jesse wants is Ava and it shows the struggles of how he really doesn’t cope without her. Three, Two, One – Zero Baby
I loved this series from Ava’s point of view but reading them from Jesse’s point of view is my dream come true. The Lord of the Manor, Jesse Ward, is a very complex character but he is very vulnerable and that truly comes out in these books. Going through this journey again only brings out the emotional ties that Jesse and Ava have and it truly helps to understand Jesse and his crazy ways. I loved everything about this book and I am so invested in this series. To say I have read the original books time and time again is not an understatement and I know that when I read the final book from Jesse’s point of view I will be rereading them many times to come. Cannot get enough of Ava and her Lord Jesse.
I received an arc copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I didn’t think I could possibly love Jesse Ward any more than I already do. He was such a broken soul. And you can slowly see as each book progresses how he is changing. I’ve read This Man series many times but after reading from Jesse’s POV so many things make sense. Jesse really did make it harder on himself. If he could only open up to Ava and be truthful about his life I think a lot of the heartache he caused would be gone. I loved This Man but I think that Jesse’s POV in This Woman is so much better. I am anxiously awaiting for This Woman Forever. I really wonder what was going through Jesse’s mind throughout the wedding and there after.
With This Woman is the second novel in This Man - The Story From Jesse series by Jodi Ellen Malpas. I have been dying to read this story since I finished the first one!
I absolutely love getting Jesse's side of the series. It helps you understand him more and his internal thoughts and struggles. Boy, is that man complicated. If it's not one thing, it's something else!
I cannot wait for the third installment of the series! The This Man series is one of the first series that got me into reading again after college, so it holds a special place in my reading heart!
