At this point in my life, I am on the other side of college. I've been through the experience of choosing a college, a major, and a career. From this perspective, I read the advice given in this little book and think "Yep, that would have been helpful 20 years ago!" I also think "That little bit here or there does a good job of explaining what I was experiencing/thinking/feeling during my college years." I now work with students as they attempt to navigate the college/career decisions and I believe this book has some wisdom for students and families looking for help in making this important decision for their future. I'd recommend this book to students and also to parents. Each chapter could make for some good discussion between the generations. Most important to me is the tone of the book. There is a "you can do this!" encouraging tone throughout the book. A reader can close the back cover and believe that they do have what it takes to thrive in college and that making this decision is not as mystifying or difficult as perhaps they thought prior to reading the book. One other aspect of the book that I appreciate greatly as a grad and "life-long learner" is the included appendix: "Select Reading List for College Students: The Christian Faith and the Liberal Arts." If readers are leaders, this broad list across many disciplines will certainly provide a rich start toward becoming well-read.

This book is really good to read for those who are interested in going to a college or university. Some of the advice is good for anyone who is thinking about wanting to be out there on their own (this can relate to anyone who is fresh out of highschool or anyone who is a twenty or thirty-something. (This book is not good for those who are not interested in futhering their education by being a college or univeristy student, whether it be undergraduate or graduate school)
