Entropy

Rate this book
Endless symptoms. Brush offs from doctors. Pain. Neglect. Survival. A gothic collection of horrific and heartbreaking occurrences detailing a life spent in chronic pain and illness, Entropy is a raw and vulnerable look at medical neglect and invisible illness. Ravven White spares no procedure and allows the reader an inside look at an intimate battle with endometriosis and pregnancy loss, while fighting for answers surrounding chronic, widespread pain and fatigue. Waiting for nearly a decade to be heard and seen, undiagnosed illness and debilitating pain pushes White into an unstable and chaotic future filled with canes, braces, and self advocation. Entropy is a story of health and lack a gradual decline into disorder, decay, and desperation. There is life after diagnosis but it can be hell getting there.

Ravven White is a queer, gothic poet and novelist. She dabbles in mystery and magic and spends most of her nights reading books or scribbling crazed stories from her pen. Another perfect collection. Searing and will stay with readers for their lives. A necessary book for our shelves to return to. Thank you for being vulnerable and creating space for us to open our hearts up.

This intense collection of writing from Ravven White shines a light on the brutal truths of living with chronic illness. It leaves no stone unturned, navigating childhood trauma, medical dismissal, gaslighting, and neglect, and life after diagnosis. The imagery and situations left me nodding along, and occasionally wiping away a tear or two. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.
