The Earth Space Cruiser Lexington is exploring a section of space for the first time in over 100 years. Captain Fred Dickson is surprised to discover that one of the planets is exhibiting a much faster evolution in technology than expected. What concerns him more is the discovery of an alien craft orbiting the planet. Commanded by a man named Levid, the ship is introducing new weapons and technology to the world in the desire to watch as the people of the planet annihilate themselves in a war. To prevent the Earth ship from interfering with his plans, Levid kidnaps two students, Mike Wilkes and Jo Ramey, and holds them hostage on the planet. Dickson must reestablish relation with the governments on the planet below and stop Levid while also rescuing the two students. At the same time, members of a lost civilization are also discovered on the planet and must be brought together. Dickson must defeat Levid's plans without causing further damage.

Good author

4th book by this author I have read and find him particularly skillful. Great character development, interesting situations. looking forward yo the next in the series.
