The Calm Bladder - Freedom From Cystitis offers its readers the ultimate self-help guide to breaking the cycle of chronic bladder infection. It is a book written by an expert urologist with 15 years experience treating men and women with cystitis and touches upon acute infection, chronic cystitis, interstitial cystitis and infections in special groups such as dementia.
I've had this book on my shelf for years but for some ridiculous reason only got round to reading it recently when my bladder issues started flaring up again, affecting my quality of life. I agree with others that it's a shame the grammar/spelling wasn't proof-read but Tim writes so well that it didn't bother me (and usually would). His detailed, yet simple explanations provided great reassurance and comfort. I finally feel like my experience is valid and I am not imagining my symptoms nor overreacting. By pure coincidence, Tim is a urologist in my city and looking back on an old discharge letter of mine, was actually based at the hospital when I last saw a consultant. I highly recommend this book for anyone who has experienced cystitis or any form of bladder issues. Even if you haven't and you've just an interest, it's worth a read for everyone. It's not a long read and is written concisely without making the reader feel spoken down to. I'll certainly be using it as a reference from now on.
Reading this book has given me hope.At the moment I am in dreadful pain unable to sleep unable to eat unable to be comfortable.I have just started my 8th course of antibiotic s.If it goes on much longer s suicide will be a very real option. As the days go on I feel weaker and the fight is leaving me.
This book is easy to read and to understand. A must for anyone who is prone to bladder problems. The suggested plan offers proactive habits to avoid future episodes.
This is a straightforward book for those like myself suffering from recurring bouts of cystitis. It is clear in its explanations and gives useful advice. Will be trying some of the suggestions in the future.
Thank goodness for this book. I understand now about my condition of IC which I have had for two years that stemmed from constant cystitis. I have a new urologist and am moving forward. Hopefully the tips you have given me will help and its good to know I am not alone.
