Who knew having a guy as your best friend would bring so much freaking drama!
I, Jasmine Baptiste, am surrounded by it. I wish my heart wasn't so stubborn. Because it seems to like getting me in trouble, and there's no end in sight. The common denominator of all of this is Dante.
For the sake of my sanity and even his, we probably have to stay as far away from each other as possible.
The plot thickens on this shorter book in the series. More drama from Elizabeth — what an impossible nag and crybaby — the same sweet Jasmine and now conflicted Dante. We learn more about Silas and his history. Big cliffhanger.
Completely ignore these book covers they have nothing to do with what happens in the story.
Jasmine returns home and as she and Dante are saying their final goodbyes, they are confronted by Dante's fiancee and accused of things that aren't completely true. Liz wants to completely destroy the bond between Jasmine and Dante so she tells her about what she did. Jasmine's reply completely surprises her and takes the wind out of her sails.
Liz tells Dante it's over and when they get home separately Dante's in their bedroom packing his suitcase. However, Liz refuses to let him leave which results in a tug of war where she loses and gets hurt. He rushes her to the hospital where they is a vigil around her bed. Jasmine arrives and Dante's guilt won't allow him to interact with her.
When she's asked by Liz's family to give them a moment she realizes she's not wanted and leaves. She reconnects with Silas and tells him everything that's happened but he has his own dark secrets. Jasmine goes to visit Liz in the hospital as a way to say good-bye and they have a heart to heart where Liz tells her to stop being friends with Dante. However, Dante wants to have a proper goodbye but it's late and Jasmine thinks sometime down the road they should have an official goodbye.
Weeks pass with no formal goodbye with Dante. Weeks in which she's been spendng a lot of time with Silas who begins to act strange. Dante tried to warn her about Silas and it appears he was right because Silas has done something that will probably get Jasmine killed. It's another cliffhanger, so on to the next book ...
This book sure took a turn at the end. We find out more about Silas in this one but everything I thought about him wasn’t correct which is good…only some of it. I could never really trust him either. Dante was onto something. Speaking of his instincts are on point. Dante really knows what he’s doing and is great at his job because of his skill and smarts. We learn learned more about him and what he does as well. In the story, I love them multiple Points abuse that we get more than just the two main characters but all four of them I suppose. I’m still super annoyed with Jasmine, but finally just a little bit. She’s starting to figure it out and close herself off and move on with her life. However, after this book her world might be shaking up a bit again and lead her to needing another reset. I really wanted to cry at several spots. This story is determined to make me do so before it’s over I feel it in my bones. I just wish Dante would let go and let Jasmine be!! She deserves so much more, and I’m rooting for her to find her happiness be with Silas Dante or whomever. All in all, I am itching to find out what happens next. I need to finish this series so I can get back to life! I’m still putting everything aside and just gobbling the story up eager to find out what happens next so I’m gonna dive in now.
This black author writers all her Black FMCs as the most desperate, pathetic, and weak romantic interests who are pushed over, denigrated as second choice, and constantly subservient in a one sided romance with the white MMC. All her books, even this one is the same. Black FMC constantly questioning her self worth and having 0 self respect and hero worshipping a disloyal and weak white MMC is this Authors Entire work. At this point, you gotta ask as the Author is Black herself, is she projecting her personal life into these books? Is she writing her own self as these Fmcs, if so that in itself is so pathetically sad. Do Not read any of this authors Wattpad worthy work.
I still don’t like the characters. I’m still hoping Jasmine comes out on top without Dante. I still don’t like any of the other characters but Dante isn’t as bad. He is still trash but slightly redeemed. The plot of this series is like a rabbit hole. I have been gobbling up each book which is surprisingly given I don’t like the characters.
The editing is atrocious. There are time when the wrong characters are referenced, lower case “I”, a whole lot of missing punctuations, etc. The line spacing, paragraph and chapter structure are nonsensical. Because My expectations are low I’m not bothered but there are a lot of errors.
I didn't think that I would make it past the first book, but now I can't put them down!! I was getting sick of the back and forth with Jasmine and Dante. And Liz is no ones friend but her own, she deserves to be alone, Jasmine is too forgiving! I like Silas or whatever his name is but understand he's in a lose/lose situation. I can't wait to find out what happens!
