Journalist, poker player, casino events manager, designer, and SEO specialist, Nero Seal tried it all before committing to the idea of being an M/M fiction writer. Living in one of the most homophobic countries in the world, he has a lot to say. Being an avid traveler, he creates his imaginary worlds from the places he’s been and the people he’s met.
Characters always talk in his head, forcing him to write their stories, using his 49 kinks as the ultimate weapon of allure. When the voices in his head aren’t slaving him around, he is drawing, hiking, and procrastinating important things in favor of momentary gratification.

What. A. Rollercoaster.

I’ve been waiting for this book for years, and it absolutely did not disappoint. Nero Seal has once again delivered a raw, emotionally charged continuation that had me hooked from the first page.

What I loved most is how Yugo feels subtly changed — and yet not changed at all. There’s a shift in him that you can sense, but the intense, consuming obsession he carries for Kuon is still very much alive.Kuon’s emotional journey really stood out as well. You can feel him trying to regain control, trying to find clarity — and failing, in the most human way.

Their dynamic is still as complex and consuming as ever, and that’s what makes this series so addictive. I can’t wait for the next book — though I really hope it doesn’t take a few more years (my emotional stability might not survive the wait).

i’ve never met two mcs more messy and complicated than these dumb mfs🙄🤣🤣 the main conflict was not my fave, it was like a one step forward, two steps back sitch, which for kuon is understandable but for yugo….bro said yk what, why take it too far when i can take it to HELL like sirrrr😭 but i’ll read these two idiots talk circles around each other any day….i was kinda expecting more to happen with the business plot and mio and gray, so hopefully that will kick off in the next book bc ik it’s gonna be good🙏😩 but omg the wait for book 4 might just kill me😭😭

This book was so worth the wait 🥹 Every page pulled me deeper into the story and the fact that we got scenes from both POVs made the experience truly priceless. It added so much depth and immersion—I felt like I was right there in the mansion with them, living every moment of tension.
Normally, I’m not the type of reader who pays much attention to descriptive paragraphs, but in this series, I savor every single one. The way each important room is described makes it so vivid in my mind, a clear proof of what a talented author Nero Seal is.
My only small wish would be to have more happy moments between the protagonists—but at the same time, I trust the path the author is building for them. At the same time, I absolutely loved how beautifully the inner world of the characters was written. You get to feel and understand their struggles, their doubts and the inner turmoil that challenges them both. It all felt so incredibly raw and human, which made their journey even more powerful and unforgettable.

These days, too many books feel rushed, like unpolished first drafts: great ideas but lacking depth. This story is the complete opposite. It’s unforgettable, impossible to confuse with any other and it lingers with you long after you’ve finished.
The characters are so well-written that they almost become part of you. You can truly feel the time, care and dedication poured into this masterpiece. Thank you so, so much—I’m genuinely grateful for it! 💙

Yugo and Kuon is back, and things seem.. manageable. Until it isn't. Until the past kicks down the door and brings a rocket launcher.

Yugo's obsession never vanes, in his soft moments and when he attempts to bring back the control he once had over his partner.
Kuon struggles with with seeing the possibility of a relationship between men that goes beyond the physical.

And is proper Egoist fashion, it all implodes spectacularly.

What has been isn't easily forgotten, but lack of communication, too much pride and Yugo's ego makes it near impossible.

The book left me wanting more, there are secrets still hiding in the dark and I can't wait for them to be brought in to the light next book.

“Welcome home, Kuon,” Yugo whispered, hands gliding over Kuon’s shoulders. The touch was so imperceptible that Kuon had to follow it with a slight turn of his chin to feel it better. “Welcome home.”

I thought I had promised myself to finish the lectures and exercises first. But when it came to Egoist 3 - when it came to Nero Seal- all promises and rules shattered, falling away like glass splintering into sunlight, each shard catching light only to mock me.

Yugo and Kuon, I truly believed this was when you would find each other, when you would finally set down your guns (excuse the pun) and grow softer, kinder and empowered in each other's embrace. I thought this would be your last book, and hell am I glad it isn't! So tell me how it isn’t strange that I was left screaming, crying, undone, when three-quarters of the way through I watched it all fall apart again over that disastrous misunderstanding while the slimy Tobias sauntered away with that unnerving smile of his I'd gladly slap out of him?

Kuon’s heart gets no soft landing. Yugo’s possessiveness is a labyrinth with no exit, love morphing through cycles of obsession, madness, anguish, and the tiniest hint of regret; for Kuon, a relentless volley of hurting and hoping and hurting again. I thought there’d be redemption. No, just a fallout so total it left me staring, unable to turn away.

Now we shall wait.

4.5 stars. What a rollercoaster! It's rare that I'm equally interested in the couple's relationship and the plot, but Nero Seal nailed it. I hope we don't have to wait years for the sequel again.

We waited so long for this series to continue, but it was worth the wait. Yugo and Kuon are still struggling to trust and mend the hurt caused by years of pain both from when they were together and apart. Let's not forget about Mio....the sly nephew I have never liked who continues to stir the pot and cause problems for everyone. I have so many questions about how the rest will pan out and how loyal Yugo's closest men are. But, this book started with emotion and spice and finished with a powerful declaration that I can't wait to see what will come next for this series.

4.5/5 stars! I’ve waited years to read about Kuon and Yugo again. I loved every word because it was about them. However, with as much as I love this story and this world - it felt a bit like a filler book. I wanted some sort of progression - for Gray to be introduced again, for Kuon to unveil some mystery. But that closure never came and I also felt like a lot of the ending relied on the miscommunication trope and reverted back to explore old themes that appeared in book one instead of continuing to grow. All in all I was deeply invested, and absolutely devoured this. My only complaint is that I wanted MORE! Hopefully more will come in book four!

Possibly the best book of this outstanding series

Passion, passion and more passion: of the body, of the heart, of the mind, like only Nero Seal can write.
In this chapter of the Egoist series some secrets unfold and some questions get finally answered. It's a page turner that keeps you longing for more with every page, the book you never wanna put down and keeps you up to the late hours at night. Every page is an avalanche of so many contrasting feelings where the need for rationality crushes with the warmest then angriest emotions.
Self-reflection and deep suspicion bring Kuon and Yugo to a point where getting to know and trust each other becomes a life or death necessity.

Loved it but...

Why was there no mention that this isn't the last book in the series? I was lead to believe it's a trilogy (actually a duet when I read the second book in January...)! So I'm kinda upset about the "to be continued" :(
Hopefully the wait for the next book won't be long! I never read unfinished series, so this waiting is a first for me. I'm sure it's well worth it because waiting for this one was.

Other than that I really liked this book! I feel like this series overall stands out in MM dark romance, cause it's different and feeds my dark and depraved soul 🥰

Back in Austria, with Yugo Santel and Kuon Leiris.

Kuon is still blinded, recovering from his double cornea transplant.

Some welcome communication between the two…yet not nearly enough.

Auspicious beginning, but the novel devolves rapidly. The narrative gaslighting is 🤯 — starting with the Kristina subplot and spiraling into ongoing Sexuality Games. 👎🏻🤢

It’s already been established that these are two gay men in a gay relationship. The author is rewriting his own canon to stir up faux conflict. This is book five. So Kuon suddenly wavering over his sexuality is whiplash-inducing.

One minute he’s ready to confess his love to Yugo; the next he’s wondering if he can “try to be straight.” The backtracking and revisionism are insulting.

Unlike with Yugo, there was no adrenaline-fueled sex to deepen their relationship, no fights or power struggles. Nothing to spark the passive-aggressive dynamics Kuon associated with gay relationships.

Roughness reassured Kuon that Yugo saw him not as a woman, but as a strong man who wouldn’t break easily. This understanding helped him accept the receiving role in sex.

Whether it’s the author’s own internalized homophobia, a need to appease a female audience, or both—these sexuality games are loathsome. A good rule of thumb: if you couldn’t flip it to a straight couple (say, a man “turning” a lesbian “straight for him”), you shouldn’t write it.

Kuon wasn’t ready to admit he was bisexual. Of all the men he’d met, only one attracted him. Even in his mind, he separated Yugo from the rest.

Kuon has never been bi. He’s had feelings for Rick and for other men. The incessant revisionism suggests the author needs a better storyboard. He’s forgetting and rewriting his own character arcs.

Honestly? The non-con scenes were more coherent than this.

Despite branding himself as M&M’s, Seal has delivered genuine gay moments before. Which makes this regression even worse. He’s now trafficking in duplicity. It’s a disservice to Kuon, to Yugo, and to his readers.

Kuon is in love with Yugo but can’t handle that he’s attracted to men—after all these years of them going back and forth?

Okay, buddy.

5 stars!

This was worth the wait. Thank you, Nero Seal, for this gem of a book, for continuing Kuon and Yugo's story. I cried and screamed after seeing book 3 was finally coming. I just couldn't get enough of them! And knowing this isn't the end, I sobbed again. I'd come back for a longer review after getting proper sleep.

I'm back to add more!
The beginning was actually really, really sweet. Their chemistry picked up whey left off. But like always, things between these two went awry. Yugo's insane possessiveness and Kuon's never-back-down attitude are bomb waiting to explode, and then it has. Yugo's cruelty hadn't changed at all! Though his inner monologues would say one thing, his actions would do the opposite. Unrepentant fool. He just couldn't reel his demons in. Poor, poor Kuon. Just when he started to hope that they might have a future, shit hit the fan. And my god did I enjoy every single moment.

Reading Kuon's internal turmoil made cry. I was ugly sobbing when he was watching those videos and just wanna hug him!! He's as obsessed with Yugo as Yugo was with him, he's just having a hard time accepting it.

I don't like Rick. Ever since he showed up in the second book, his persona just don't vibe with me. Just leave Kuon alone ffs!

My fave parts were when they're gentle towards each other, despite those being few and far between. But that ending! The ending gives me so much hope.

Imagine my delight when Nero Seal said this is going to be a 7-book series! Wow that's a lot, in the best way!! I'm afraid I'll be thinking about Kuon and Yugo for 10-20 business days. Book 4 can't come sooner! Can't wait!

It was such a wonderful book. Fascinating. With an intense roller-coaster of emotions that had me on the edge all the time. I was falling in love with the characters, yelling at them in rage or close to tears every few pages. It was stunning how easy it was to get in touch with their emotions. The plot was enthralling, there were moments when I couldn't read fast enough to know what was going on, and some others in which I just wanted to slow down and savor it.
The characters are amazing, with such strong and complex emotions that makes it hard to predict exactly how would they react to some situations. I don't think there was one character who I can honestly say I didn't liked. They all have certain charm and an interesting story to tell. As I always do I have my favorites, Yugo and Mio are the light of my life in this part. Well, Mio has always been. I've never love Kuon that much but this time feels different, I can't help to love him maybe almost as much as I love Yugo.
It is a very dark read so I would recommend anyone who wants to read it to check the warnings, but since it is a part of a series, I think anyone who gets this far already know what they are getting themselves into, so go ahead and enjoy this marvelous beauty.

Heart-throbbing, brilliantly written, and deeply satisfying…
This book is a standout in the series, thanks to its masterful character development.

The writing style is fantastic, effortlessly pulling you into every moment. But what truly elevates here is how the characters have matured. Their interactions are layered, believable, and emotionally gripping, arguably the strongest aspect of the entire series.

This book is perfect.

Given that Egoist 3 was released years after the previous books, readers had plenty of time to imagine what might unfold. Funny enough, the reality far surpassed anything I could have predicted. It was better — much better — than expected.

If there’s a downside, it’s the wait. Will it really be another five years for Book 4? If so, that’s painfully unfair. I’ll wait, of course, but not patiently.

4.5 stars for the return of Yugo and Kuon.
After many years since the last main book of the series where we left with a hopeful future the couple is back with their complicated dynamic, Yugo's secrets and Kuon's recovery seems to not go well with each other even when our mafia boss seems to kiss the ground Kuon walks on.
Not gonna lie, the lack of communication would had me abbandoning this book if the foundation of this relationship was not as screwed, I was going to stop at 50% of the book at 3AM to sleep but of course the book just got me by the balls and I don't even want to know the hour I end up sleeping.
I end up liking Tobias more than what I was expecting, and sorry for Mio but I hate his guts and the twisted relationship the cousins have.
We get yet again a "to be coninued" final but this time it marks the start of a new journey so the wait would be a lot lighter.

I had to do a reread before diving into this because it’s been so long that I forgot a lot… but that was possibly a mistake because I got angry at Yugo all over again after reading book 2.5 and that anger kept a foothold for most of this book…

I’m going to have to reread this again later with a hopefully less angry frame of mind.

I’d recommend if you like these tropes but just be aware that this epic series is far from over.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book actually adds nothing to the series. Which is sad, because we’ve waited so long for it. I’m also confused how a book longer than the previous ones manage to be about everything except the main characters’. They kept regurgitating the same storyline, same fights, without even growing as a couple. I see no growth, no indication that these two might be more than what they were in Love of the Egoist.

What’s worse is that this is not even the last book. We have to wait years again just for crumbs?

I was rooting for the author so much

All the misunderstandings imaginable between the two anguished protagonists lead to the unfortunately regrettable reactions each has to their perceived wrongs at the hands of the other.
This next section of the ongoing drama captures all the apprehensions and misinterpreted actions the two protagonists suffer, with dubious assistance from surrounding characters determined to undermine their desperate attraction.
Definitely a part of a series, not comprehensible without the preceding parts and leaving the reader in anguish for the following one(s).

2.5 stars rounding to 3 because I like Yugo too much💖
The book has a lot of miscommunication between MCs. At one point you might want to just bang there heads😤
Yugo is the only saving grace in this book.🥺
Till now, I have liked only the first part in the book and I might not continue reading this series. 🥱

It’s been a long wait for this instalment of Kuon and Yugo’s story and if I’m honest, I’m a little disappointed.
Slow paced, I just wanted things to happen. When they did they were great but still this book feels a lot like filler. Not to mention the lack of communication between…well, just about everyone.

I have reread this book three times. It's the best of all the series!!! Full of angst, suspense and the usual screaming at the main characters in my head to read the signs☺️😀. I can't wait for what is next for Kuon and Yugo. Nero, please don't keep us waiting for too long.
