In A MURDER OF CROWS, author Mia Moon makes a delightful debut, spinning a witchy tale of magic and romance.
Ember Wildes is a new arrival in Salem, Mass. She’s part of a long line of witches, but she doesn’t know much about this heritage. She’s just looking for a fresh start in a new city. But Salem has its secrets, including the disappearance of several young women. Police Detective Thomas Cole is on the case. But despite his dogged efforts to end the killings, he’s coming up empty.
Circumstances bring Ember and Thomas together and sparks fly! But they can’t enjoy each other’s company for long. The evil supernatural forces behind the killing spree are targeting a certain new arrival in town and her police detective boyfriend. And did I mention that Ember has a crow named Shadow as a pet/familiar? And that he’s an important part of the story?
It all adds up to a fun, page-turning romantasy story. Moon does a nice job with the pacing. The book never feels slow, but we also have room to get to know the main characters. I look forward to seeing what she does next!
